Supernatural - Fan Question - Who Are You?
Feb 26, 2011
Polls SupernaturalI've been interested in the demographics for Supernatural fans for a long time. Mostly because what people say about us don't seem to match the people I meet online or the fans I see in convention pictures. Now we've got the NY Times claiming that we are around 15 years old. However, my friend Jilly posted a link from the Huffington Post saying it's closer to 36 years old. So it begs the question: How old are Supernatural fans? My guess is every age, but skewing around 30-40's. Please help by answering these 2 demographic questions. I in no way will (and am not technologically capable of) linking any information to you personally. I just want to see the overall results in an informal poll. Please pass the link. The more people who take it the more accurate it is likely to be.
Thanks for your input.
My blog

Well, you pose a very philosophical question...30-39, and male.
ReplyDeleteNice!!!
ReplyDelete26 year old female
ReplyDeleteFor some reason the polls won't show up for me. Maybe it's my computer. Anyway, if you can't see the polls, here are the links. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteAge - http://poll.fm/2r0mt
Gender - http://poll.fm/2r0o7
I can see them fine....the results so far on the age one show I'm definitely in a minority...but I knew that :)
ReplyDelete21, male
ReplyDeletemy 54 year old husband, 23 and 20 year old sons and 14 year old daughter also watch and are fans. This show transcends age groups. It has appeal on many levels -- whether it is motw, relationships, drama-- it captures the interest of intelligent, imaginative people.
ReplyDeleteYeah well....I'll come clean... well over 40 .... ok closer to 50.... oh and female....
ReplyDeleteyeah I know, way to old for all that fangirl stuff...
Not as many of us over-40ers as I thought. LOL (At the moment anyway. Pole results could change, I'm sure) I'll just say I'm a 20-29 demographic in my heart.
ReplyDeleteI would guess it falls more in the mid-twenties and female as far as the "average" fan goes... not 15 or 36.
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious about the results...
ReplyDeleteI'm 19 and a female.
I totally agree. One of my favorite person to converse SPN with is heading off to college this year. Doesn't matter about age as much as interest in the characters or story line.
ReplyDeleteI'm 28, and female.
ReplyDeleteyou know, i never expected the majority age range to be 20-29 or even 30-39
ReplyDeletebefore i joined this site i honestly assumed that it was a teen girl show (mainly coz thats what i am and the only people i've ever met who watch it are my age)
i've learnt so much
aye, I'm 16, and female.
ReplyDeleteBut I've met persons from 8-58 who are fans.
My 8yearold cousin drools over the effects, I /love/ the drama and intellectual level of thinking, my Dad loves the music, my mom loves all the references to old horror films, my sister (and myself |D) think both Sam and Dean are hot...
And I've been a HUGE fan of Misha Collins since he was in 24 as Alexis Drazen~
23 Female!
ReplyDelete20 Female. I think I was 14 when the show started and it freaked me out so I didn't watch it even though I wanted to see Dean from Gilmore Girls and Jason from Smallville :D. Mostly it was Jared because at least he was a nice guy on GG whereas Jensen on Smallville went from being Lana's bf to psycho guy with a shot gun! And yes yes i know the actors and the characters they play are totally different but when I was 14 i didnt really care about that :P. I think I appreciate the show a lot more being older (though some scenes still make me uneasy but that couple eating each other was totally gross).
ReplyDelete18, female.
ReplyDeleteBut I do watch it with my mother (45, female) and I know a couple guys (18 and 19) who are alos fans.
My Dad can't stomach "sfi-fi/fantasy" but even he laughed at the Suicidal Teddy Bear and sang along to Styx at the end of Nightshifter.
i love everyone of those things
ReplyDeletei've watched it with my 10 year old sisterr and my 50 year old dad too
its really a show for any age group!
I'm 23 and female. I was introduced to the show by my best friend (25, male). My sister also loves it and she's 38.
ReplyDeleteHey in the forums they are looking for Supernatural Effect stories. Basically how watching Supernatural has caused changes in your life. Check it out here if you want to add:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.spoilertv.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=22292
18 female
ReplyDeleteI was scratching my head at that first sentence in the NYT article too. I'm 23 and female (but I was 18 when the show started).
ReplyDelete27 & female
ReplyDelete21 and Male.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think it's worth noting how the show/target audience has changed over the years. I recently had a Season 1 marathon with some friends (we only got through 6 episodes XD) and we immediately noticed that the show was a lot creepier and a LOT gorier. My girlfriend, a huge fan of horror, really couldn't stand to watch it due to the graphic nature of that first season. It was all about classic/hard rock, cars, and demons. I feel like the target audience may actually have initially been young men.
That doesn't seem to stop you, Jilly! :) But I'm right there with ya. 40-something and female.
ReplyDeleteSame here. My 47 yr old husband watches with me and my 21 yr old daughter watches too. So trying to pigeonhole this show just won't work. 15? Does the NY Times do any research?
ReplyDelete40 and Female.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one that had NO problem with her opening statements in the article? The CW without doubt targets teens more than any other network (excluding cable networks designed for kids)... and girls more than boys. Obviously, that does not mean that everyone that watched is a teen girl, and I would argue (like many in here) that the show has wide range appeal.
ReplyDeleteHer statement used the perception (or even the misconception) that SPN is made for teen girls to show other readers a few reasons why it is not just for girls. I just do not offend as easy as many SPN fans I guess.....
27 year old female
ReplyDeleteOK...i'm going one step further than most :D
ReplyDeleteName = Lisa
Age =26
Gender = Female
Country = Ireland
See...no more secrets......no seriously, i'm not super stalkery or anything...i'm just curious about the Nationality of Our Family....I't's not like i'm gonna hop on a plane.....Or Google Earth you, or Stake out your Houses or anything......You can trust me...Scouts Honour :D
Irish, Rochey? Or should I call you Lisa now? And do you have that gorgeous Irish lilt to your voice? And does being Irish explain your ummmm....incredibly.....ummmm....detailed and.... descriptive comments ? :P
ReplyDeleteIf I start listing my ancestry now, I may get finished by month's end..... but I'm in the US.
ReplyDelete22 year old male.
ReplyDeleteI think the male fanbase is bigger than it seems, Just a lot less vocal, and that's a shame.
I'm running a french SPN forum with 1500+ members, and I'm the ONLY active male member. Are the other guys ashamed or something ?
No, stick to Rochey......Ah screw it, for you Jilyanne...I'll be Gum :D
ReplyDelete"do you have that gorgeous Irish lilt to your voice?"
Ya mean the REALLY COMMON one....like a fish wife :D
"does being Irish explain your ummmm....incredibly.....ummmm....detailed and.... descriptive comments ?"
EXPLAIN......No seriously....i'm that dumb.......WHAT ?
22 male
ReplyDelete"If I start listing my ancestry now, I may get finished by month's end"
ReplyDeleteLOL *hugs*
I'm 31, female. I was 26 when I started watching. The poll seems to show that the majority of the fans are in their 20s, which is what I expected. But I'm guessing that a show like this actually has quite a healthy representation in nearly all age groups. It's the kind of show that tends to appeal to a certain kind of person more than a certain age group, if you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteDo you really expect that fans of all ages visit this very site? You do not think that some age groups use this kind of sites more often than others?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is yes. I've always thought that the male part of the fanbase is probably bigger. I've actually met a couple of guys who watch the show, but do seem almost ashamed to admit it. The reason why seems to have to do with the female part of the fanbase. Because the show is seen as having a heavily female fanbase, that makes some men ashamed of liking it. It's internalized sexism; anything liked or favored by women must be of low quality. Obviously some men aren't informed by such irrational and archaic thought processes and have no trouble admitting they like the show. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm 26 and female and if Supernatural would have any similarities with 'young adult' fiction/TV, I would hate it. I find it offending that they exclude so many people who watch Supernatural. What about our awesome male fans? They make it sound like 'Supernatural' is 'Gossip Girl'. If SPN's entire audience would consist of female teenagers. Our women demo would be gigantic and the CW would be THRILLED. lol But I don't want to say that the younger female SPN fans are anything but awesome! *hug*
ReplyDeleteJudging by the convention I went to last year, the average age is more like mid to late 20s
ReplyDeleteOhkay....the second poll pretty much explained on why all kickass females die in this show and we constantly have a sausage fest going on...
ReplyDeleteMe(female!!) & my bro watch spn together! I'm 23 & he's 26!
ReplyDeleteNice poll, I was somewhat puzzled when I read the NY Times piece, because I've always had a feeling this show had die hard fans in all ages.
ReplyDeleteI've just turned 35 and I'm female. My husband is 37 and ranks Supernatural as his second favourite show. My brothers are 18 and 31 and love it too.
24 female :)
ReplyDelete20 and female :D English too so I don't really count for the US ratings
ReplyDeleteLol I can't even vote in an "adult post" that's not fair hahaha (18) EDIT: oups and I'm female.... Hoped that was clear with my pic but you never know HAHAHA
ReplyDeleteYean at a convention a guy from the Army said season 2 was the most popular dvd in Iraq, they were all fans. (AWESOME i know.)
ReplyDeleteoh yeah army - lots of guys..
ReplyDelete13-19 female
ReplyDelete22 female from India
ReplyDelete43 and female.
ReplyDelete44 year old female
ReplyDelete18, female.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this, Dahne. I've been wanting to know a little more about the people I correspond with, but didn't have the courage to ask. Well, my oldest child is your age, so that should tell you about me. I'm female. I'm so surprised to find out you're a gal, because I thought you were the person in the picture:). You and I have had a conversation before where you encouraged me to get into Supernatural. Not yet, but I will. Right now I'm a fan wannabe.
ReplyDeleteThe Times was sooo off its not funny!!!! we are of all ages (more older than younger) and both men and woman enjoy the show !! 43-female :) and the times SHOULD have done atleast alittle checking BEFORE they printed that! shame on them!
ReplyDeletethe times was so wrong on this its not funny!! we are of all ages (more older than younger) both men and woman enjoy this show !! The Times SHOULD have done SOME checking BEFORE they ever printed that one!!! Shame on them !!! Somthing like this Poll for example would have givin them the info . they needed!!
ReplyDeleteI wanna meet the fan who's over 79. Because that makes me smile :)
ReplyDeleteI fall in the 20-29 category, where I had expected to see the biggest numbers... IDK what these people are talking about.
20 year old female :]
ReplyDelete48 female, but I watch with my Mom 74, and my sister 42... My sons 22 & 26 also like it, but they tend to TiVo it and catch it when they can because they are always out on Fridays (we used to watch together when it was on Thursday)... My daughter (25) and her husband (26) like it and they introduced a couple of their friends to season 1 last night instead of catching the new episode because they want to have parties on Fridays with more of their friends...
ReplyDeleteMy husband's best friend's whole family likes the show... He (49 years old) considered it a "girls" show in the beginning because he has 3 daughters and they and his wife just went "on and on" about the show... but eventually he watched a few episodes, and started watching more because Castiel really caught his attention... Now he has watched the whole thing and wants to tag along with me to the New Jersey convention... Meanwhile, my husband refuses to watch because he thinks it is like a soap opera. He believes his friend has been "sucked in" because there is too much estrogen in his household and we can't even get him to stay in the room when a show is on.... Articles like the NYT article just help perpetuate that myth.
I think that article, while not insulting, will contribute to older fans avoiding the show. I didn't catch it until mid Season 3 because the advertising that I saw made me think that it was a teeny bopper show all about the hot male leads.... I don't watch crap that is all about who is sleeping with whom *gag*.... I like action shows and comedy... Supernatural is the best of both! I was the first person I know to watch the show and I only started watching because I was bored during the writers' strike and the fan comments on Amazon.com and iTunes led me to believe that it might actually have a good plot.
21 male, love the show and watch it since 2006
ReplyDeletebut I'm also a little bit off the US ratings 'cause I live in Russia
Lol. I don't usually get mistaken for Jensen Ackles. :-P Not that I would want his life and the crazy that goes with it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are still thinking about watching Supernatural. It's a great show with something for everyone. Try it and you might be surprised. Today, fan wannabe. Tomorrow, superfan who can't stop talking about the show. The next day, sucked into all things Supernatural and wondering how exactly you ended up with Facebook, Twitter, and Blogger in your life, while debating whether or not you need something called Tumblr to complete your addiction.
We wait here to welcome you to the insanity of Supernatural fandom. We might be passionate but we have a lot of fun doing it with a lot of great people joining along.
Midwest United States here. However, I'm not promising that I won't Google Earth you and stalk you, Rochey, now that I know you are in Ireland. My friend from college and I planned on going to your country since we took an Irish history class. I haven't stopped dreaming. Once my kiddo's college and the car are paid off, I'm heading your way.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could come up with a way to reach the male fanbase to get a more accurate picture of who does watch Supernatural. I'd bet we're closer to equal than most people think although the internet fandom seems to be very heavily female. Just another time I wish I had lots of excess money and could hire a polling company. And buy Supernatural a year's worth of rock music of course.
ReplyDeleteI do expect that the poll will skew a bit younger and female than the Supernatural viewer base as a whole. Mostly because I think the internet fanbase is younger and more female. I know, like I'm sure everyone here does, people who watch Supernatural religiously but never go online to get info on it much less participate in a fan site like this one. However, I can't think of any other way to get information. Anyone have any suggestions? Because we all know that we aren't going to get the most accurate results with this. First off, we only have about 600 people who voted and that's a whole lot less than the number of people who watch it in the US alone. Worldwide, this isn't even a drop in the bucket.
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one, I saw where the author was coming from.
ReplyDeleteStill, this has been an issue of much debate in the fandom for a while now.
21 and female!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that this SITE has a fan over 79.... I mean, my grandma is younger than that and she can barely send an e-mail!
ReplyDeleteI'm 22, female and having been watching the show since I was 17 years old.
ReplyDeleteAnd all three of my sisters who are in their 30s watch Supernatural along with my mother who is in her 40s.
ReplyDeleteI remember Jensen telling a story (I think it was at a convention but I'm not sure, it was vid clip) about how during one of his travels he got his passport stamped by this older man and after the passport check/stamp/filing was over, he quietly told Jensen "I love your show" smiled and moved on to the next person in line, lol. So there are probably quite a few out there that reside in the 50s/60s age bracket. But 79? Hey, it could happen, lol. In fact I know that my Grandmother's sister who is close to 70 would absolutely LOVE this show. She may already be watching it for all I know.
ReplyDelete32, female
ReplyDelete18, female. But you can count in my mom (40) too.
ReplyDeleteDahne, here are the demographics for the site as a whole since we started it in 2007
ReplyDeletehttp://i53.tinypic.com/zx66c8.png
True. We also should consider that the part of the fandom that haunts social media sites tend to lean toward the younger side. But idk, could be wrong... the internet HAS been around for awhile now, and even those in their 40s, and 50s could be sucking the internet teet along with the younger generation. I need to find a comprehensive study on this. Would be interesting.
ReplyDeleteLMAO, I think this just confirms the stereotype that women talk more. XD Ha!!
ReplyDeleteNah, I'm with you. I do think that is what she was trying to do. I'm thinking that her attempt at humor (I actually found it generally amusing) ended up coming off as caustic and jaded. I don't offend too easily either, but I can see how it might have irked others. Written word too easily can be taken the wrong way because it lacks the ability to reflect tone and expression.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap that's awesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteooooo I envy you!!!! I wish I could reformat my brain and watch SPN all over again. Gosh, that would ROCK. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm a teen fan of the show, but saying that most of the fans are teens is completely wrong. Most of the fans I saw on the interent are in their 20s, 30s and 40s.
ReplyDeleteAs a foreign fan, I'm also curious to see which countries have the biggest fanbases outside the US.
18, Male. I think the biggest reason why people assume it's a show for girls is A) The network (that's a given) but also, a lot of guys aren't as active in the fan base. They just seem to watch and love the show but stay out of the fan area. I for one am not like that. xD I love this crazy little fandom.
ReplyDeleteim 20 and female!
ReplyDeleteThere would definitely be older people out there that like it. My grandma would have been in her 70's now and she loved gore. Her favourite movie was Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original).
ReplyDeleteIm 20 (almost 21) and a female, but I started watching when I was 18. The show first started when I was 15 and knowing me, I prob would have been terrified of it (I was a chicken).
ReplyDeleteI'm sure not. =D
ReplyDelete42 and female (representing the cougar demographic)
ReplyDeleteHum, 20, female ... quite a lot of female in fact, no point in asking why...! ^^
ReplyDelete20-29 y/o female
ReplyDelete15? I don't know any 15 year olds that watch this show. If so, kudos to them. It's a good show to be watching, and I'd rather them be watching Supernatural than whatever drivel is aimed towards that age group.
24 female! :)
ReplyDeleteAnyone find it odd that 871 people told us their age, but only 694 their gender? :)
ReplyDeleteApparently there is a lot of hugging in Ireland. :) or glomping... is that right? I can't remember. I trust you Rochey! I'm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA. (yes! the town in the movie does exist!) Right in the middle of nowhere. Lots of cornfields. I bet Google Earth can't find it's way thru the cornfields. :)
ReplyDeleteWell I'm 19 and female but my female and male friends who are the same age watch also :)
ReplyDeleteI'm 21 and female but in my household we also have my sister 16, our brother 14, our mom 40-49, our step-dad 60-69, and our grandma (above 79) who all watch Supernatural. I think it shows that our series defies demographic boundaries. Some groups may out number the others but there is still a show of support for the show across all ages and both genders and of course all over the world. That's the power of the Winchester story that it can speak to so many.
ReplyDeleteI think they are. But the funny thing is, I've never really met many guys that watch it, being a guy myself and all. Or if they are, they're probably too closeted to admit the magnificence of the show :P
ReplyDeleteI know right! It was really touching. J2 got a letter from a general or something (not good with army stuff sorry) saying thank you and they did a good job. I was so close to crying ahhaha.
ReplyDelete19, soon-to-be 20-year old male.
ReplyDeleteStarted it when I was 14. Wow. Time sure does fly...O.O
I don't get "offended" over things like this, but I think that it that it was sloppy writing.
ReplyDeletePeople watch shows, not networks. I couldn't tell you off-hand what network half of the shows I watch are on. I just manage to find them when the time's right. And I agree the CW targets teens, but Supernatural does not.
Second, she didn't say that the show was targeted toward teens (which I don't think it is, but suppose that it was), she suggested that you'd only be watching it if you're a teen. A show can be targeted to a certain demographic but actually reach a different demographic. I have no problem with that. To say that only a teen would watch this comes across as a little condescending to those who are not teens and enjoy it.
24
ReplyDeletefemale
You're not talking about that guy who pretended to be in the army are you? There was a convention that he presented something to them (or maybe he just spoke) and this guy said he was in the army but he apparently was just posing. Please tell me this is a different person, lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've wondered what audience this site normally caters to.
ReplyDeleteLMAO! Good catch! I guess maybe there are 177 very unobservant people that missed the second poll?
ReplyDeleteWhen I originally posted the survey through facebook, I only had the age one on it. Since I always wanted to know the gender breakdown too, I added it before posting this to SpoilerTV. Some of the discrepancy is that the age poll already had well over 100 votes before I posted the age one too.
ReplyDeleteWell, as of tomorrow, I fit into the 20-29 group. I am also a male.
ReplyDeleteThe Male/Female ratio scares me. O.o
It's funny cause while I know 100% you're not JA, having his picture as your avatar seems to make me think sometimes that you're male. XD
ReplyDelete42 year old female. I watch the show every Friday with my niece (21), son (20), and some other friends in their 20's. The youngest fan in the house is 2 months old.
ReplyDeleteI remember that too. I was like "Is it just me, or is WB recycling actors?" As soon as their storylines were wrapped up in their respective shows (which involved a freaky episode of SV where they threw Jensen Ackles off a cliff... XD ) suddenly a new show was coming out. I watched it mainly because it was supposed to be scary...I also had a hard time keeping up with which one was Dean for the first 5 episodes because of Padalecki's character on Gilmore Girls. I didn't watch that show all the time, but the episodes I did see had that Dean character in it, and it confused me for a while.
ReplyDeleteI really dont think so. He was a guess and talked for like 20 minutes next to jensen andjared (not like he was a fan in the crowd)
ReplyDeleteand he gave them army medal.
I just now programmed by DVR for a series recording, so I'll jump in starting this coming Friday. Of course, I'll also have to pick up past seasons from the video store so I can catch up. (This is the part where all of you say to me, "Now you're like me").
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, and think that is the point she meant to make, it just came across wrong... I'm 34, and previously to discovering Supernatural through TNT last year had never heard of it.. precisely because I don't normally watch CW shows... I have loved the show ever since my first episode (the pilot actually)!
ReplyDeleteIs tomorrow your birthday? Have a happy!
ReplyDeleteNo worries :)
ReplyDeletedumbys they are....of course most of us are in the 20-29 !!!!
ReplyDeletei am a 42 yr old female, but my sons, 17 and 19 and hubby 45 also watch this great amazing show!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is! Thanks for the birthday wishes :)
ReplyDelete19, female, france :D
ReplyDeletehappy birthday :D
ReplyDeleteI can't get enough of the fandom (I, too am a male)! It's exciting to see that people (especially men, since they seem to stay away from this fanbase) of all ages and genders band together to form this uber base of obsessiveness!
ReplyDelete18, female:)
ReplyDeleteOk so I'm taking one for the team of 30-39 year olds since there have only been a few mentions from the 178 that voted this age range actually posting on the site. I'm 34 and started watching Supernatural three months after my 34th. Saw my first episode when I was 31.
ReplyDeleteGood question. I've often pondered it myself. I am 33 and Female. Can't wait to see the results!
ReplyDeletelaughed my ass off when i read that we were all 15! Everyone i know who has the sense to like THE BEST SHOW EVER MADE! is older than me and im 28 lol!
ReplyDeleteIm 23 and female and it's not surprising that the majority of the fans are women :))
ReplyDeleteDarn, I was hoping it was my thirst for action and general avoidance of emo that confused people. :-P
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Just know that this week's episode looks to be pretty myth-heavy with a nasty ending. If you have a chance sometime beforehand you may want to watch a standalone episode. I'd recommend A Very Supernatural Christmas from season 3. It has everything Supernatural is known for but fair warning, it is intense and includes a nauseating torture scene and lots of gore for those with a weak stomach. On second thought, if those bother you, watch the Pilot first. It of course gives you the basics of the show and while a good, scary ghost story, it is far less gory.
ReplyDeleteooh yes!!
ReplyDeletei also want to know which country has the biggest fanbase not including US
hopefully it aus (my home) but judging by the shocking way its been treated on tv, i doubt it
wow, thats intersting
ReplyDeletenever expected it to that close to equal b/w male and female
can't believe 13-17 is only 7%!! i thought it would be much higher
that shows what i know :D
ireland? thats awesome!!!
ReplyDeletei'm from melbourne, Australia
pretty far away from everyone else out there
21, female of course the majority is in their late 20's or so, don't know where theose people got this 15 year old crap
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Wilson. I hope it's a great one!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the NY Times article I couldn't help but think that part seemed wrong. I was fifteen when Supernatural started but I didn't really know about the show till i was 18. I'm turning 21 next month.
ReplyDeleteI'm a 17 year-old female, living in France. So I do not exist in matter of ratings, even though I'm up at 5am every Saturday morning to watch new episodes online! (Btw, loved loved LOVED yesterday's episode!!!)
ReplyDeleteMy 49 year-old mom watches it too with me when she has the time (she's now halfway through season 4 and while it's not her all-time favorite show, she loves it).
I also have a couple of friends who watch and love the show and are actually 15, and the oldest person I know who is a fan of spn is in her mid 50's :) But it's true that most of the fans I know are in their 20's, and the big majority of them are females.
And I totally agree with someone above who said that Supernatural is not a series for a defined category of people (as in age and gender), but is for people that can understand the true nature and essence of this amazing show, and love it as a whole.
Sorry if I'm not making much sense and rambling, or if I offended someone with my last statement ^^'
33 year-old female here. I've been watching since the show debuted. My 70 year-old mother loves the show, too.
ReplyDelete21, female AND Canadian :3 lol
ReplyDelete34 Female From South East Asia.
ReplyDelete16 and female. I've been watching this amazing show since it first came out when I was 9 :D
ReplyDeleteThought there'd be more guys who watch this show, but oh well guess I'm in the minority here.
ReplyDeleteG day Mate :D
ReplyDelete*hangs head in shame*
Sorry for the stereotype *kiss*
Here....you can say "top of the morning to ya" :D
Cool....Australia....So far from me.....Don't worry....My *glomps* reach to the end of the universe......LOL....You're right next door to my Bro.....He lives in New Zealand <333
<33
I'm here! LOL
ReplyDeleteAwwww....Door's open for ya Dahne <33
ReplyDeleteYou'd love IRELAND....It's cold...Wet....Miserable...Broke...What's not to love :D
My husband & I both LOVE SPN! And we watch it together every week! He is 45.
ReplyDeleteMy husband & I LOVE SPN! We watch it together every week! He is 45.
ReplyDelete"Right in the middle of nowhere. Lots of cornfields"
ReplyDeleteCool...where's theres cornfields.....there's UFO'S.....
*mulder voice*
DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE EXISISTENCE OF EXTRATERESTRIALS!!! :D
"Apparently there is a lot of hugging in Ireland. :) or glomping... is that right? I can't remember. I trust you Rochey"
From me...def...I'm a rare NEEDY'' Breed....From Ireland...Not so much.....We can be right Miserable Bastards....LOL...only joking.....we're lovely Leprachauns :D
*runs from her own kind*
<33
I know a few that watch and a few more that watched until "they went all emo" as one reminds me whenever I bring the show up. I am sure more than 16% of SPN fans are male.....maybe not more than 25-30%.... bu they are out there!
ReplyDeleteI guess they just haven't discovered the fun (and maddening addiction) that is SpoilerTV yet!
mostly females fans in my age range?
ReplyDeletewell, hello ladies ;)
17,male. :P Best show on Television!!! :D
ReplyDeleteDon't dwell in trivial concern pal, go with the flow... some guys are vocal. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm 22, male and Non-US fan. And I'm sure that I'm definitely vocal.
May be other guys are not so open with the concept being shown (You know guys hate showing emotions. :P) and may be they only like action!
you know, in my almost 17 years of life, not one person has ever said g'day mate to me
ReplyDeletelol
on the other hand, i have often said or had said to me "top of the mornin to ya" so go firgue :D
so far from you yes, but apart form new zealand, we're far from everyone
ireland is pretty close to everyone. i really want to visit some day.
all the european countries
and america of course
I'm 18 (yesterday is my birthday) and female. Wow and here I thought most people who watch Supernatural are teenagers. I stand corrected :)
ReplyDeleteGore and Violence have substantially been mowed down in later seasons. Season 1 according my elder brother WAS really scarier and creepier... excellent piece for hard/classic rock lovers and yeah... definitely young males. I guess the fan base changed dramatically when the show started to focus on emotional scenes... you see, guys never accept their emotional outbreak and show them out (though reality check is that guys are more emotional then girls... just not all tears and cries... much worse :P)
ReplyDeleteI am 19 and male.I've been watching for 4 years!!
ReplyDeleteI thought so,too. But it appears we were mistaken!!
ReplyDeletehah! The bell curve peak on us... the post 20s... This shows how outdated the dated news companies are!
ReplyDeleteSuperNatural is the most exciting and coolest and one of it's own kind of show out there... I've been watching it for 5 years... right from the beginning.
I guess they forgot to add 6 years on the 15 year viewers who might have started watching the show from beginning. Teen lovers... being dedicated and growing with the show!
BTW I'm 22. Male. Indian.
Happy late birthday IceCrash! Hope it was a good one.
ReplyDeleteThank you. That's really nice of you. And yes it is a pretty good one :D
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dahne. So far so good! :)
ReplyDeleteI have to say, it put a bit of a dent into my love for the show, but it usually pays off...
ReplyDelete...usually lol
Actually, we are a small settlement of former extraterrestrials that have adapted and learned to live in your world. Our ship ran out of fuel decades ago and we have assimilated. We now look just like you. :) The cornfields are our cover from discovery. shhhhhh. don't tell anyone.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteThat was quite Dean-ish of you. ;)
cool :)
ReplyDelete36 female
ReplyDeleteHappy late birthday :D
ReplyDelete22 year old female, I indeed was still a teen when got into this show - but the older I get, the more I appreciate it.
ReplyDelete"ireland is pretty close to everyone. i really want to visit some day.
ReplyDeleteall the european countries
and america of course"

Im 23 and female and it's not surprising that the majority of the fans are women :)))
ReplyDeleteI am 41 and female and I absolutely love Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteI am one of a large group on Facebook who are over 50 and never miss it.
ReplyDeleteHey, Sister! I'm also well over 50 and am a big fan. I think there's more of us out there, maybe just not so many on the boards. I seldom post myself...
ReplyDelete13 year old. Female. Born in Malaysia, then moved to Oman in the middle east and two months ago I moved to Singapore :P
ReplyDeleteI got my dad to watch it and he actually does watch it every week!! And my brother too, even though its more of a 'sit down and watch it or I will kill you' sorta thing with him :P
I'm 14 years old and female, and most of my friends and family usually get spooked by Supernatural, and I'm the youngest in the family!! I guess I've been watching it so much that I'm really used to the spookyness of the series, but some parts I jump(; I LOVE Supernatural, and I will keep loving it until I die!! :D TEAM SUPERNATURAL!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to SpoilerTV, Mel. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to SpoilerTV, Anna. Glad to have you here. I think it's awesome that Supernatural appeals to different family members for different reasons.
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for sharing and welcome to SpoilerTV.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan. I think the NYT article threw a lot of people. Welcome to SpoilerTV. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Welcome to SpoilerTV.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to SpoilerTV. Thanks for sharing your opinions. I think season 1 was scarier too - more horror film feel. Perhaps the big change came because season 1 was on the WB, which while skewing female was not completely a female network. However, once it changed to the CW things definitely changed.
ReplyDeleteStill there is no excuse for the lack of classic rock music. Someone needs to demand a special music budget from the CW.
LOL When I saw the post I was gonna say THATS AWESOME I love it, you know promotion for our show YOUPI! But then I saw the bad comments about it and didnt understand so I assumed I was dumb and didnt post LOL!
ReplyDelete!! Your name is Lisa!!! AWESOME :D (no no,... im totaly not a lisa fan *cough* any way)
ReplyDeleteI would freak if any little caracter of the show would be called Chanelle, don't think it will happen ... ever lOL.
Canada, québec :P
I think you are right. We seem to cluster around the 20's but there is a wide variety of people watching Supernatural. I think that is what makes the fandom so appealing to me. We come at it from different life experiences, cultures, and age levels so there is a wide-variety in the fans.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, welcome to SpoilerTV. Thanks for sharing with us.
I think not a lot goes on the fansite that's all. :D Let's try and drag every one into the madness :D
ReplyDeleteLucky! I'm jealous. I've never been to a convention. Hopefully I'll get to one before the show ends. Welcome to SpoilerTV. Glad to have you.
ReplyDeletehum.. what r you talking about !
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky your whole family watches it. I can't get anyone in my family to watch it with me because it's too gory for them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting and welcome to SpoilerTV.
Welcome to SpoilerTV. We're glad to have you. Thanks for the stats.
ReplyDeleteHi scarefreak. Like your name. Welcome to SpoilerTV. I agree that the Times should have done some fact checking before posting the article. It seems like they had some space leftover and used the piece to fill the white space. In many ways, it seems like a first draft instead of a polished article.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Welcome to SpoilerTV.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to SpoilerTV. We're glad to have you. We need all the Russian fans we can get on this site because I firmly believe that it was the Russian SPN fans that helped us win the Best Show contest over the summer. It might not count in the US ratings, but I want Supernatural to win again this summer on this site. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda! Welcome to SpoilerTV. I love that your family is watching. I wish I could convince mine to. By the way, I can see you are a fan of Metallicar too. She's one beautiful ride.
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for the stats. Welcome to SpoilerTV!
ReplyDeleteHi Sunny. That's a great idea to ask about the country too. Maybe we can make that a poll question over the summer hiatus. We are always looking for ways to make that seem shorter.
ReplyDeleteAnyone out there have any stats on Supernatural's international sales? Maybe we could track DVD sales or something.
We love having you in "this crazy little fandom": too. We do make some noise! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi! Welcome to SpoilerTV. We're glad to have you.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to SpoilerTV. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteTwo months? Now that's training them early. I love it! You must have one fun viewing party every Friday night. Welcome to SpoilerTV. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool that you all watch it. Thanks for sharing and welcome to SpoilerTV.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Welcome to SpoilerTV.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to SpoilerTV. It's nice to meet another fan who likes both Supernatural and White Collar. You've got good taste. :-) Do you watch Burn Notice too?
ReplyDeleteHi! Welcome to SpoilerTV. I hope to post the results later this week, probably at the beginning of my recap. However, if you know anyone who hasn't voted, please pass the word. We'd love to get as many people represented as possible.
