Thanks to Jaime and tvmonkey for the heads up.

Supernatural fans, have you been dying to know what a Ben Edlund directed episode of the show would look like? If you’re nodding eagerly, then mark your calendars down for May 6th. That’s when Edlund will be making his Supernatural directing debut, a rep for the show confirms.

The episode, titled “The Man Who Would Be King,” will also be written by Edlund. No details about the plot are available yet, but judging by Edlund’s writing credits on the CW series, which include this week’s hilarious meta episode “The French Mistake”, the possibilities are endless.

  2. Looking forward to this. It can't be a crack episode because it is so close to the season finale (well unless the Mother is really the big bad for next season). I expect it to be more in the vein of On the Head of a Pin than Clap Your Hands if You Believe.

  5. Ben Edlund is such a huge asset to the Supernatural writing team. His episodes are some of the most twisted, bizarre and gut-wrenching of the entire series, Nightshifter, The End, On the Head of A Pin are some of my favorites. (We won't talk about The Third Man - I'm pretending someone else wrote that)......
which leads me to believe that an episode written and directed by him could possibly be one of hte most awesome of all time.

  8. I am so looking forward to this. Edlund can write great angst and great comedy. Either is acceptable to me.
