Yes, I know the ep aired 3 days ago. I was busy, and though about not recaping it, but decided to do so anyway. So let's begin!

Sylar? What are you doing here?

And our explaining-the-case-victim this week is...Oh, that's right, Sam was spazzing and all last week, gotta check up on him first. He appears to be dead for a few moments, scaring the sh*t out of Dean, but snaps out of it in no time. And there I was thinking he'd turn into a drooling mess any second now.

Aaaand now we go to our explaining-the-case-victim of th week, who is a janitor in a school lab. He seems to be alone. Wait, did that doll just... Nah, it's a doll. Suddenly, something invisible begins to slice the janitor's forehead. Kinda weird he notices it because of the blood drops and not the pain in his head, but whatever. He starts panicing, and naturally panics even more when he sees the doll isn't where it was. He tries to escape, but runs into the organ doll, which gives him the creepiest half-smile ever.

Scream. Blood splatter. Opening titles.

Don't play with scissors. Unless you're a doll.

Back to the dynamic duo. Dean tries to cheer Sam up with a coffee, a snack, and doubtfully legal pills.

"How do you feel?"

"Like I got hit by a planet."

Sounds painful indeed. Apparently, in the real world Sam was out for a couple of minutes, but felt like he spent a week in hell. Dean tries to distract him by looking into the case of the poor janitor. Dean is thrilled by the organ doll, and makes a valentine joke, this time with a plastic heart (As opposed to the real one he used on the 14th ep of last season, My Bloody Valentine. Coincedence? Mabye).

Dean's phone rings, and it seems to be Lisa. He ignores it. He and Sam check out the security camera footage, and get bupkis. Sam questions the janitor's girlfriend, and they get bupkis again. (While he does it, Dean gets a text from Lisa, which he ignores. Again.)

Time for victim number 2, this time a security guard in a factory. He also gets an invisible head cut. Only this time there's doll action too.

This one creeps me out more than the organ doll. This time, the doll has a partner, which impales the poor guard. Just like the first doll went back on the hook after attacking, these dolls disassemble or something. You gotta hand to them for being smooth.

The boys arrive and start to investigate. Sam realizes the EMF thing is beeping like crazy, like at the last scene. He does the math, and thinks the dolls are going Chucky on people. Only problem is that ghosts aren't known to travel that far. So, as Dean states while being as creeped out as we are:

"We dig....Over there."

Not them again..

So they dig indeed and find out that Rose, a woman who worked at the factory, went missing a while back. They are interrupted when Lisa calls again. This time, Sam insists that Dean answers. He does, and turns out Ben is the one calling. He tells Dean something's wrong with Lisa, and he needs Dean to come help him. Now, I knew that it's a bogus emergency from reading a spoiler, but I doubt a lot of people actually believed Ben there. Dean wants to stay, but Sam insists that he goes check out what's going on, and he reluctantly agrees.

Sam investigates and finds out Rose worked at the factory with both victims. He goes to the factory, and so begins a questioning montage, that ends with Johnny, a very nervous and suspicious employee, who doesn't look so reliable.

Dean arrives at Lisa's to finds
out she's alright. He realizes Ben "Parent Trapped" them, and stays for some small talk.

"When Ben called I dropped everything and I ran."

Uh... No, you didn't. If you try to avoid talking to someone, it's reasonable to ignore one or two of their calls. But if they keep calling and texting, it's probably urgent. Unless they're obsessive psychos, which Lisa isn't. So no, Dean, you didn't drop everything. It took Sam's convining for you to answer the phone, and again to go check on them. That doesn't sound like "dropped everything" to me.

Anyway, Dean and Lisa have that "We can't be together" talk for the I-stopped-counting time. I hope Dean finally gets over her now, and we can say goodbye to the Braedens. I never found them that interesting to begin with.

Blind date gone wrong

Meanwhile, back to the factory. That Johnny guy is talking to someone on the phone, panicked. He also gets cut, and is about to become victim number 3, but Sam saves him. He salts up the room, and tells to Johnny to spill the beans.

Johnny tells him about a prank he and some other guys, including the 2 vics, played on Rose. They made her believe she had a secret admirer, but when she went to meet him, turned out to be a mannequin. The guys jump out surprise-party style and laugh at her. She's hurt and wants to leave, when of the guys grab her. She pushes him off, falls and dies by hitting her head on the table corner. Oops. The guys decide to do the obvious thing when you accidently kill someone- bury the body. Johnny tells Sam where the body is buried, and Sam goes to do some burnin'.

Back at the Braedens, Dean walks into Ben's room while he's playing a game.

"That's ridiculous, plants could never kill a zombie."

The reference is funny by itself, but hearing it come from Dean- Who knows exatcly what kills zombies from experience- is even more amusing. Ben gives Dean the "You probably left because you hate one of us" speech. Then he rants that Dean is full of sh*t, saying that family is very important, yet walking out on his. If this would've come from Sam or Bobby I might have paid more attention, but I really don't care about Ben, so this doesn't really mean anything to me. Dean then leaves the Braedens with a Lisa & Ben flashback (Look at that, each brother got his own montage). I hope this is the last we see of them.

The Killer Inside Me

Sam burns Rose's corpse, and tells Johnny it's safe to leave. He goes to his place, and talks to his...girlfriend? No, it's a doll! Now, here I was sure this was a twist, and Johnny was controlling the dolls somehow. But when this happens:

(Creepy half-smile number 2)

He looks shocked and surprised. Guess he isn't the bad guy either, as he appears to be strangled by a pink scarf (What an embarassing way to go). Sam obviously suspects the doll again, which sits creepily on the couch. Come on, cops, how are you not onto this? Dolls don't sit on couches!

Sam goes to talk to Rose's sister again (Oh yeah, he did that earlier, I just forgot to mention). He realizes that she visited every place a murder was comitted, and she carries something of Rose's with her. Well, INSIDE her. Yes, for the first time ever, the villain is an evil organ. Can't really salt and burn it if it's owner is innocent...

It's alive!

Sam takes Rose and meets with Dean for advice. Dean suggests they use some kind of hoodoo. Just as she discovers they're not really feds (Took you long enough, lady), the Impala's engine starts. But if they're all standing outside, then who...DUN DUN DUNNNNNN. Yes, the evil kidney ghost upgraded from sex dolls to sexy cars. And it's angry.

Poor Dean. Being chased by your own car doesn't look fun. Espicially having to get it to smash into a building in order to stop it. And then the ghost stops attacking. No, it wasn't knocked out, you dummies, it's a ghost! Then what happened? It appears a mgical galss shard found its way into the girl. And right into the kidney. Thank god.

And how can we end an ep without a little bro-talk. Sam realizes he hasn't thanked Dean for everything he's done for him, and decides now is a good time. He also tells Dean he got his back, which is now to hear when he actually means it, as opposed to the ending of Live Free or Twihard, when he had no soul when he said it.

Final Rank- 3/5. The episode's plot didn't really suck me in, and I never really liked Lisa and Ben. But the creepiness of these dolls and the comedy made up for it. Next episode looks funny as hell. Is it Friday yet?

P.S I'm not going cloth-shopping alone any time soon. Or at night.

  1. Everything you said, except that 3/5 seems a bit generous. But anyway great recap. Till next week.

  2. Not one of my all time fave eps either, but it did have its moments.
I kinda like Ben....he has potential to become another Dean...(Not saying I especially want him in the show, but he doesn't let Dean get away with anything, so yeah, I like him)
I found the last dummy very scary - those EYES!

  3. Great recap. I enjoyed the episode and as I've said numerous times the end conversation was awesome. Agree with ranking.

  4. I personally liked this episode more than apparently most ppl did. I thought the case w/ the mannequins was creepy and that the stuff w/ Dean, Ben, and Lisa was a good emotional storyline for the episode. I also liked the random humor that was thrown in too

  5. I don't like how Dean came off as a dead beat dad in the is episdoe, abanding his family. I felt that was harsh. He is trying to protect them. It was weird he wouldn't answer their calls or check his messages. Earlier in the season he was so worried about something happening to one of them and now he doesn't even check to see if their numerous calls were important? OOC for me.

One more thing: What was with all the cheesy porno music?

  6. // I hope Dean finally gets over her now, and we can say goodbye to the Braedens. I never found them that interesting to begin with.//

    Agreed. :)
Under influence of the Veritas curse Lisa already showed her true colors. She wanted a dad for her son, and as long as Dean totally suppressed the most part of his self and played happy suburbia dad she all was good for boring little Lisa.
But then Sam dared to return, and oh,oh Lisa dropped all the pretense and got bitchy. Good riddance, may we never have to deal with this lying bit*** ever again. Dean deserves better.

What I found interesting is how much the Rose / Isabelle situation resembles the Dean/Sam situation.
Rose donated a kidney and saved her sister Isabelle. I lost count how many times Dean saved Sam, already.
I wonder if this means that Sam and Dean will end up like Rose and Isabelle all the sacrifice turned out to lead to the death of both? Hm. Season finale approaches, who will die this time?

Over all a somewhat depressive and creepy episode, but getting rid of Lisa and Ben was definitely a highlight. Great recap.

BTW did anyone catch the comic book reference:

Dean to Sam : Riddle me this Batboy!

In case you don't know this refers to two comic book characters: the Riddler aka Edward Nigma one of Batmans many opponents. Batboy is a nickname for Robin......as in Batman and Robin.

Remember Season 3 "Bad Day at Black Rock" ? Dean to Sam: I'm Batman!

    :)

Now can't it be Friday already? I can't wait to see 6.15.

  7. It would be good episode if there was no Lisa and Ben in it. These two characters are boring and don't fit in this show. I hated how much screen time was wasted on them in this episode. What makes matters worse, is that their appearience didn't resolve this stupid situation with Dean. Is it so hard to kill her and her brat, writers?
