CBS: 8.32 million, NBC: 6.00, ABC: 5.52, Fox: 3.71, CW: 2.14

ABC, NBC and Fox: 1.4 rating/5 share each, CBS: 1.3/ 4, CW: 0.9/ 3

-Friday’s Losers (excluding repeats):
The night overall. Friday looks like Saturday more and more each week.

-Ratings Breakdown:
It was a Friday of four-way leadership, but there was nothing to celebrate about. CBS remained the most-watched network with 8.32 million viewers, on average, while ABC, NBC and Fox were tied for first among adults 18-49, each with a mere 1.4 rating/5 share in the demo. Needless to say, Friday remains a troubled evening.
CBS and Fox tied for the top spot at 8 p.m. care of relocated The Defenders and Kitchen Nightmares, but the Gordon Ramsay non-scripted hour only delivered 3.72 million total viewers. Take a look:
Friday 8 p.m.
The Defenders (CBS)
Total Viewers: 7.92 million (#1), A18-49: 1.1/ 4 (#3)
Kitchen Nightmares (Fox)
Total Viewers: 3.72 million (#4), A18-49: 1.5/ 5 (#1)
Given CBS’ overall strength throughout the week, there is every reason to believe it will be back to the drawing board in the Friday 8 p.m. hour next season.
Also airing from 8-9 p.m. was NBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? (Viewers: #2, 6.60 million; A18-49: #2, 1.4/ 5), featuring country western singer Tim McGraw, ABC animated encore holiday specials Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown (Viewers: #3, 4.08 million; A18-49: #4, 1.0/ 4) and A Charlie Brown Valentine (Viewers: #4, 3.64 million; A18-49: #4, 1.0/ 3), and soon-to-conclude Smallville on The CW (Viewers: #5, 2.33 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 3).
CBS was the top draw at 9 p.m. courtesy of CSI: NY, which averaged 9.66 million viewers and a 1.5/ 5 among adults 18-49. For a typically sleepy Friday, consider CSI: NY a “winner.” And that led into an encore telecast of Blue Bloods, which returned to the 10 p.m. hour with 7.38 million viewers (#2) and a 1.2/ 4 in the demo (#3). If Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior performs well out of parent Criminal Minds on Wednesday (and there is every reason to believe it will), chances are Blue Bloods will remain in the Friday 10 p.m. time period.
NBC competed with a two-hour edition of Dateline at 5.70 million viewers and a 1.4/ 5 in the demo from 9-11 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows:
Dateline (NBC)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 5.44 million (#2), A18-49: 1.3/ 4 (#3)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 5.88 million (#2), A18-49: 1.5/ 5 (#2)
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 5.71 million (#3), A18-49: 1.4/ 5 (#2)
10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 5.75 million (#3), A18-49: 1.4/ 5 (#2)
But two-hours of 20/20 on ABC was slightly higher rated at 6.35 million viewers (#2) and a first-place 1.6/ 5 among adults 18-49. Here is the half-hour breakdown:
20/20 (ABC)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 4.92 million (#3), A18-49: 1.2/ 4 (#4)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 5.59 million (#3), A18-49: 1.4/ 5 (#3t)
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 7.14 million (#2), A18-49: 1.8/ 6 (#1)
10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 7.74 million (#1), A18-49: 1.9/ 6 (#1)
Elsewhere, and in the 9 p.m. hour was relocated Fringe on Fox (Viewers: #4, 3.71 million; A18-49: #3t, 1.4/ 4) and Supernatural on The CW (Viewers: #5, 1.96 million; A18-49: #5, 1.9/ 3). Despite the lackluster performances, both scripted hours are expected back next season.

That drop below 4 million is terrible. I'm getting very worried about Fringe now.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural did REALLY well...
ReplyDeleteSmallville has dipped a little, but that doesn't really matter since it's ending so rating can't affect it much.
And both episodes of said programs were awesome, good to see the end of the VRA and the rise of hero supporters; and the ending for Supernatural has me looking forward to next week more then I have done for many a week.
Ouch, Supernatural under 2 Mil. But I guess it's pretty good, considering the general drop. I hope season 7 will be announced this week, so all the fans can relax.
ReplyDeleteIt only was the 2nd time of the season Spn went under the 2M, how is that suppose to be ''well''? it's not good :( Esepcially since the average this season used to be around 2,3-2,4M
ReplyDeleteI misread it, I thought it was 2.9 xD
ReplyDeleteWTH happened with fringe? it really got down! *its only a week its only a week its only a week*
ReplyDelete:DDD and spn did good :D I want both to return next season on a dif night or time :(
This is BAD. But viewership throughout the week has been down...Does anyone know why?
ReplyDeleteEgypt would be my guess.
ReplyDelete'Despite the lackluster performances, both scripted hours are expected back next season.'
ReplyDeleteMakes me hopeful for Fringe.
I saw a really cool looking promo for Fringe on the Superbowl pregame show (it was just during an interview with Obama, but I think those shows usually get a lot of viewers) and then again later in the week. I would have thought Fringe's numbers would have been up because of it.
ReplyDeleteI think they were referring to SV and SPN...
ReplyDelete:(
ReplyDeleteSV's in the final season, so I doubt it will be back :P
ReplyDeleteHate to say it but I think Fringe ratings went down because quite a few people didn't watch this week since it was an "over there" episode and our characters (especially Peter) weren't in it. I hope that doesn't become a trend or Fringe won't make it.
ReplyDeleteWell, that depends how serious those people are who claim to be jumping ship after Alt-Liv got pregnant...
ReplyDeletedislike but I think your right :(
ReplyDeletelol true! I forgot about that part.
ReplyDeleteYeah, seriously...
ReplyDeleteWell, yeah, still, hope is good :L
ReplyDeleteStrangely, the lower the live ratings are for Fringe the higher its dvr ratings are. Last week it was 44% up, the week before it was 42% up. This week, who knows? But its valentines weekend so maybe people were out on fri. night.
ReplyDeleteMe too.. maybe the DVR numbers will pull up the numbers.... I hope.
ReplyDeleteReally bad news for Fringe, and me personally.... I think the more this pregnancy plays out and the more over there episodes without much Peter, the more ratings will stay low or even drop more.... haven't checked ratings and compared dips in numbers to over there episodes, but it would be interesting. MY guess is the Fauxlivia pregnant plot may lost more than a few fans... or at least annoy them so much they aren't so passionate as to watch live anymore.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like the drop helped Supernatural tho either since it was at a near series low... maybe the DVR numbers will bring up both shows. Was there something new on this Friday to subtract from the Friday numbers? Was it just the Valentine's Weekend effect? Smallville didn't seem to feel the same impact as the 8pm shows.... so I just do not get it.....
It's so frustrating that us Fringe viewers in the UK have absolutely no effect on whether or not this show gets cancelled. American TV works in very strange ways. When you guys get it right, it's some of the best TV in the world. But the faffing around with scheduling and hiatuses is ridiculous. Seriously, what happened to Caprica? I'm sure there are people who hated it, but did the network really give people a chance to get to like it? After the pilot there was about a year gap. Then a six month gap halfway through the season DESPITE all the remaining episodes having been completed. Seems like a strange way to treat a show that I assume they wanted to succeed. The Fringe writers have said they have ideas planned out for season 5. I sincerely hope we get to see them.
ReplyDeleteSo Americans, please stay in on Fridays and watch the bastard. I'll be very greatful.
CW hasn't made official announcement but has hinted they would like to S7 for Supernatural
ReplyDeleteHave heard all CW shows dropped this week but SPN dropped less than all others.
ReplyDeleteSmallville dropped less than the others, both SN and Fringe dropped big and proportionally speaking Supernatural lost more. Fringe lost about 15% of its live viewers and Supernatural lost about 16%... but DVR numbers could change all that.
ReplyDeleteHow disappointingly poor. Fringe is back in the crap.
ReplyDeleteFox president Kevin Reilly had said that if “Fringe” delivered around 80% of the ratings it got on a Thursday it would be renewed. We've now fallen below that level.
I'm not going to look into these numbers too much, pretty much everything on this week was down especially the CW shows. Supernatural is no danger of being cancelled and I'm sure if Fringe's numbers go back up to at least around a 1.6/1.7 rating next week Fox wont pay too much attention to this weeks blip? Let's wait and see.
ReplyDeletenot that DVR numbers actually count for anything. Well Live +7 doesn't anyway.
ReplyDeleteOh lord me too Matan. I need that announcement. I am confident, but freaking at the same time. I'm sure it will come, but I want it over with. S6 was renewed on 18th Feb last year, so that would be this week. Come on CW. You know you want to.
ReplyDeleteA rise in temperatures in a snowbound US. Lots of people I know went out just because it was the first time they could in a while.
ReplyDeleteThat is true.
ReplyDeleteFringe fans really need to get the ratings up for the next few episodes, if they continue with this trend FOX really won't have any choice but to cancel it. The fans have to act now before the show is cancelled.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. It's the same for us here in Canada. Good shows are lost and we can't do anything about it but curse. Fringe is one of the best ever produced. It's had a rough ride being bounced from one night to another. I want to see it survive and I know many people from around the world do. The ball's in your court Americans. Please watch Fringe and get the ratings up.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it is absolutely crucial that the ratings rise above 4 mil/1.6 for the next couple of episodes, otherwise we're screwed.
