i absolutely love anne hathaway and james franco but they are just not bringing it tonight. :( hoping the show's gonna get better before the end of the night!
Only thing I really disliked about this years Academy Awards, was the "Billy Crystal-ripoff" intro at the start. I thought Hathaway and Franco did a decent job as hosts. Thou I do long for the olden days with the FUNNY Steve Martin, or Whoopi Goldberg or even Robin Williams as hosts.
I absolutely wouldn't mind a combination of past hosts in the 84th Academy Awards (next year), that being Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman. I thought Hugh did a great job as host when he had it 2 years ago. Would also be great if the guys queue:ing up the "You've talked too long"-music, would be a bit more sensitive and not queue it up so fast (on some of the winners). The show ended 40 minutes before it's planned ending, so there was plenty of time to allow for a little extra room for speeches.
God, I missed Ricky Gervais! Anne Hathaway tried her best. I don't know what the hell James Franco was doing. I was more than satisfied with the actor/actress wins. But "THE KING'S SPEECH" as Best Picture?? What happened? Did Hollywood, along with the British film industry, lose its guts? I've never come across a Best Picture winner that was so . . . safe. And unoriginal.
I guess this was them trying to make the Oscars more "hip"? Not a bad try I guess. Anne Hathaway was okay but as much as I love James Franco as an actor, wasn't fond of him as a host. Maybe he was nervous about his nomination or something. As far as the winners, I feel like most of them were right on. Only Inception could have won for best Cinematography, Visual Effects and Sound. I had no idea which movie should win for Best Picture (there's been a lot of great movies this year) and I've never seen the King's Speech. But all in all not a bad night for the Oscars. Have to say though weirdest moment of the night definitely goes to James Franco in that bright pink gown.
I think you are righ about him being nervous, but also I think he is just a laid-back "chill" guy naturally. Hosts tend to be more outgoing, energetic and sarcastic types... at least the good ones.
It was OK. The hosts didn't distract from the presentations and acceptances. Which is fine and says something about the need for hosts. I only watched The King's Speech. I'm going to have to go see of the other movies.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
No celebrities were harmed by the comments of the presenters who failed to entertain the now dwindling audience.

ReplyDeleteAll my favorites are winning. That's the only reason I care about these kinds of things anyway. I couldn't care less about the entertainment or hosts.
ReplyDeleteTwo actors I like, but the most boring hosts EVER.
ReplyDeleteAnne Hathaway can come back any time.... No more James Franco please!

ReplyDeleteYou should give the last entry in Ricky Gervais' blog a read:

Hilarious!
His blog entry mocking the hosts was funnier than ANYTHING done in the Oscars last night!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up!
Would it have killed Franco to take that snerr off his face and act like he wanted to be there?
