Grey's Anatomy - James Tupper to Return

14 Feb 2011

Guess who’s coming back to Seattle Grace?

James Tupper will return for a multi-episodic arc on Grey’s Anatomy.
The former Men in Trees and Mercy star turned heads at the start of this season during his guest run on the show as Dr. Andrew Perkins, a psychologist who was brought in to perform evaluations on the residents after last season’s mass shooting (and who hooked up with Kim Raver’s Dr. Teddy).

Tupper will be appear for three episodes toward the end of this season.

And if her once again receives a strong reaction from fans … who knows?

Grey’s has a history of picking up actors as series regulars after trying them out in guest roles (Eric Bane famously was only supposed to appear in one episode). And when Tupper was on Trees, ABC fans gave the actor a Grey’s nickname, “McTreemy,” so maybe it’s fate? In any case, two guest arcs in one season is certainly a good sign.

  1. I'll bet it's gonna add more drama to Teddy's arc involving her sick husband and now her former lover... which is a good thing, because I really like her character. Both Scott Foley and James Tupper are awesome.

But I confess if they drag the storyline towards this it's gonna be hard to decide who she should be with, since I like both characters and shippers. I guess Henry is my favorite so far.

  2. This isn't going to end well, especially since Teddy's married now!

  3. Teddy has a significant track record of bad relationship choices at this point, so this is par for the course. She went for Owen when he was already taken, she fell for Dr. Perkins when she knew it was a temporary situation at best, and she married a patient for insurance purposes and develops feelings. A dysfunctional triangle sounds about right for her. Her personal life is an emotional dirty-bomb.
