“GLEE” SMASHES ANOTHER BILLBOARD RECORD!

THE HIT MUSICAL SERIES NOW HAS MORE HOT 100 CHART ENTRIES THAN ANY OTHER ARTIST, TOPPING ELVIS PRESLEY AND JAMES BROWN

The cast of pop-culture phenomenon GLEE has broken the music record for the most single entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, claiming the title previously held by the “King of Rock and Roll,” Elvis Presley. Having covered hit tracks by chart-topping artists including Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Madonna and Journey, GLEE now holds the record for 113 single entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart – exceeding Elvis’ 108, James Brown’s 91, Ray Charles’ 74, Aretha Franklin’s 73 and The Beatles’ 71 entries.

In the short amount of time since GLEE hit the airwaves, the series has racked up two Platinum and two Gold albums, two Grammy Award nominations, more than 16 million song downloads, the No. 1 soundtrack of 2010 (“The Christmas Album”) and an incredible 19 Emmy and 11 Golden Globe nominations, as well as four Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes, including the award for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical. The critically acclaimed “Glee Live! In Concert!,” starring 13 members of the television show’s cast, will return to North American concert stages this spring.

In the all-new “Blame It on the Alcohol” episode, airing Tuesday, Feb. 22 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX, PRINCIPAL FIGGINS (guest star Iqbal Theba) teaches the student body about the danger of underage drinking, and the glee club is personally touched by the message. Meanwhile, MR. SCHUESTER (Matthew Morrison) and COACH BEISTE (guest star Dot-Marie Jones) ignore Figgins’ warning and get into a bit of trouble.

  1. Dislike :(! Glee should not be included on that kind of a chart. I've ranted about it before so 'nuff said.

  2. Ironic that none of their songs are original, they're just taken from other artists. I don't think that record is deserved. And this is coming from a fan of Glee.

  3. I'm not sure these covers should be counted....

  4. I agree also. The songs are not original and they're not by a singular artist as most of the other chart toppers were. A bit unfair :(
