Torchwood - New Season Snippets
Jan 7, 2011
TorchwoodThe storyline is genius. Really.
First, the title. Gone is Torchwood: The New World. Now it’s Torchwood: Miracle Day.
I know. Sort of like the first time you heard “The Phantom Menace,” isn’t it?
But wait ’til you hear what it’s about…
“The premise is a miracle happens in the world,” Davies says. “One day, on Earth, no one dies. The next day, no one dies. The day after that, no one dies. The [people who are] dying, keep dying … but don’t actually die. The possibility of death ceases to exist. Which is great for some people. But it’s an instant overnight population boom. The earth relies on people dying … What is society going to do now? Some of the answers are beautiful and brave. Some of the reactions are terrifying.”
Naturally, the Torchwood team is called in to try and tackle this very unusual problem (btw, if you haven’t seen Children of Earth yet, rent it ASAP). The series will air on Starz in July.
What’s your take on the plot?

Big deal. The Twilight Zone did it already.
ReplyDeleteSeen it done before, but as with most shows... it is not the plot that makes the show it's the execution and writing. It sounds like something Torchwood and Davies could do very well, but with so many new aspects this season/series (cast and location) I will have to wait and see how it goes before expecting it to be good or bed.
ReplyDeleteHate the new title, sounds so pretentious :P And, where's the aliens? :s
ReplyDeleteI really, really wanna like S4 but the more I hear the less I'm liking the sound of it. I have no doubt that it can be great under this premise, but it doesn't sound like it's TW to me atm :(
I don't really like the new title. The plot sounds a bit stupid to me 'people don't die'. I'm disappointed to be honest.
