Weekly Poll - Favorite Object
Here's the poll I never expected when starting this week's question - favorite object. Let's face it, some of these objects keep the Winchesters alive and some of them made certain deaths cooler. One is a symbol of the brother's bond while Sam's hair means something different to everyone. Regardless, all these objects have made an impact in a single episode or over the years. My only regret in this poll is that I forgot to mention the truly spectacular hotel rooms they have been in over the years. My favorite is the porn hotel room in the picture above, but the armadillo was awesome too. Alas! I forgot to nominate them.

I'm the first person to vote and I voted 'Sam's Hair' basically because it's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, it cracked me up and I doubt any other person in their right mind is going to vote for it.
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness I do actually love Sam's hair, it kinda has a life of it's own and personally I think it's an important part of the show.

Don't even have to think about this.
It symbolises the brother bond.
The moment when Sam gave it to his brother instead of his Dad ......even as a child Sam knew he could count on Dean in ways he could never count on John.............
The way Dean so reluctantly handed it over to Cas: 'don't lose it.'
The moment Dean tossed it into the trash.....that sure brought a lump to my throat...
I live in hope that it's not in a landfill somewhere.....that Sammy retrieved it and managed to keep it safe somehow....and that we will see it again soon now that Sammy has his soul back....
Ok I'm off to have a little cry now......
Dean's amulet - not question. For me it is the most powerful symbol in the show. I miss it and I truly hope that now that Sam is Sam again, we will find that he took it out of the trash and saved it. I know most are waiting for a big emo reunion scene, but I prefer something smaller. I want Sam to hand Dean back the amulet and for Dean to put it on, with great reaction faces from both of them. For me that is the most powerful way to stay true to the characters and still show that their relationship is back on track. Sera, please bring back the amulet.

it is the show. its the bond between the borthers. it took 3 seasons to discover where it came from and the answer was adorable!!
my heart broke and i cried my eyes out when dean trashed it. never have i been so sad that someone threw out a necklace.
initially i loved the twist that it could help find god but when that amounted to nothing it was kinda stupid.
also loved the rabbits foot. made for one awesome episode and was pretty awesome itself!!

In completely unrelated news, we now have 1,001 votes in the favorite demon poll. The angel poll had 995. Doesn't compare to the what's wrong with Sam poll in October but it's the best participation we've had since hiatus. :-)

yay I went with the popular choice FINALLY! :P that did not happen too often before.
ReplyDeleteOf course I voted Dean's amulet. It symbolizes the essence of this show - bond between the brothers. As long as Dean wore it, it was always visible enough to remind you what this show was all about in the first place. And that is not hunting supernatural.I really hope to see it again. I don't care if Jensen likes wearing it or not, it has to come back!
The Colt, John's journal and the exorcisms are great symbols of this show as well. The rabbit's foot delivered the best comedy episode ever and was hilariously powerful in its tinyness.

ReplyDeleteI voted for Dean's Amulet. Just b/c of the sentimental value of it, but honestly John's journal would be the most important. Just b/c it was there from the beginning connecting the boys to their missing dad. Also it has saved the boys many times by what they have learned in it. I just keep going back to the Wendigo epi and how that book was the boys bible in their time of crisis :) The rabbit foot was hilarious, but one epi was just not enough for me to vote for it. And while I love Ruby's knife -- ehhh not enough sentimental value for me. Will not comment on the others.

Oh by the way, Given what we heard about what the Chuck fans did..... You will never believe what I just found out. Lauren Cohan (Bella) is going to have a major recurring role on ......wait for it......CHUCK! They want to hate on us, but they don't mind using our actors. ha ha ha ha
Dean's leather jacket, how could I forget it? love it to pieces. Seriously, there are three visible things that define Dean: the Impala, the amulet and the jacket. His gun comes right after that - love it too!

The amulet. At first it was just a part of Dean, unexplained but always there. Then they gave it meaning, which made it absolutely a part of not only Dean, but Sam. Then they made it something that could lead them (or Cas) to their goal. And then they tossed it away when the brother's relationship was in a desolate place. And now...? Who knows if we'll ever see it again, or even have it mentioned. I hope so, only to show that the brothers are back on track -- if they ever get there again. Fingers crossed.

ReplyDeleteI had to chose Dean's amulet. It is so important showing the intense bond between Sam and Dean. Sam gave that to this big brother and Dean never took it off until Cas said it would help him find God. Well we know how that turned out but I am so hoping that Sam picked that amulet up and will be giving it back to Dean sometime this second half of the season now that Sam has his soul back. This will be one very important moment if this happens which I hope it does.

ReplyDeleteDean's amulet...though it was tough between the Colt and John's journal. But in the end the bottle of wine (kinda joking) and the fact that the amulet (which we better see again) symbolizing the brotherly bond won out.

ReplyDeleteHad to go with Dean's amulet, though I was sorely tempted by Sam's hair (one of my favourite things about the show, as my long-suffering family will attest to). Seriously though, that amulet is so symbolic of the boys relationship, I actually cried when Dean threw it away, and I will be seriously p*ssed if it does not make a reappearance sometime in the near future.

ReplyDeleteThat episode was genius. Jared played that very well its like Sam went back to being a little kid getting in trouble but in a gigantic body :P. Also "I'm Batman!" best line haha.

ReplyDeleteI voted for John's journal because while it obviously changes to fit whatever needs to be dug up on a certain case (c'mon sometimes it's a little too specific, like the Charmed Book of Shadows or something) it always looked really cool...great prop.

ReplyDeleteI struggled with JOHN'S JOURNAL and DEAN'S AMULET cause...ya know......both very important in their own right...but in the end i chose DEAN'S AMULET <3
JOHN'S JOURNAL was cool, but it kinda got fazed out in the later seasons, but it had a nice diary in it, and you got to learn more about him and the boys life in the earlier days, which i loved.....also a handy encyclopedia of nasty monsters....Very educational :))
But it's DEAN'S AMULET......and that thing symbolises the bond between the brothers <33
He treasured it for so long, and when he died sammy wore it.....How cool and sweet is that.....Getting all warm and fuzzy thinking about it <3
Now back to reality......He THREW it in the freakin bin.....That was really SAD to see......But i'm a glass half full kinda girl, and i refuse to believe it's gone for good......SAMMY has it......or.......Dean will find it out of the blue in the future, cause DESTINY and the FANS want it back around his neck <33

It's like their encyclopedia when the internet research doesnt cut it :P I guess for a supernatural show you need a kind of 'go to guide' so the journal was necessary or they wouldnt know what to do.
