  1. I think this is the easiest season for me. It definitely has to be Lazarus Rising. Its one of my favorite episodes of the series. & I just love everything about it.

  2. I loved When The Levee Breaks. It had so much going on and really helped people to uderstand what was going on in Sam's head.

  3. Ok ....narrowing this down.....
Once again going with the first thing that pops into my head......

Lazarus Rising....Dean's hand coming out of the ground
Monster Movie....Dean in lederhosen ....loved MM the first couple of times, now.....yeah it has it's moments
Yellow Fever....Sam looking out for Dean
On The Head Of A Pin......Alastair taunting Dean about breaking the first seal
    When The Levee Breaks......Sam detoxing
Lucifer Rising....Sam and Dean ganking Ruby with her own knife

Of course all these (and the others) have lots of other brilliant moments - but it's been driving me nuts trying to analyse every episode - so this is my strategy (for now anyway)......

  4. Wow, I haven't posted here in a while, have I? This is rather perfect, then :)

I loved all of these episodes... okay, most of them (wasn't incredibly keen on Heaven and Hell, but that may mostly be because of my dislike for Anna), but for me, my absolute favorite of Season 4 HAD to be Lazarus Rising.

Maybe I just have a thing for watching people dig themselves out of their own graves (BtVS's Season 6: Bargaining 1 & 2) but this episode hit all the right notes for me. It felt fresh, somehow, in a way that the other season openers didn't, possibly because Season 3 ended so.... finally. I mean, Dean was dead. We knew he would be coming back, because of all the promos and spoilers, etc., etc. But it kind of marked the end of the first half of the series by actually KILLING one of the two main characters off.

And then we have Lazarus Rising:
    - Dean being tortured...
    - suddenly he's in his grave again...
    - the camera pans over the top of this peaceful, empty field with a single wooden cross planted in the ground, when suddenly that peace is completely shattered as we see Dean's hand punch straight through the earth
    - he stumbles his way into a gas station, and his first instinct when confronted with that frightening, high pitched noise is to salt the doorways and windows
    - the call to Bobby, and his reunion with Bobby -- Bobby attacking him with the silver knife, and the holy water in the face, god it was enough to get me laughing my ass off and crying my eyes out at the same time
    - AND THE REUNION WITH SAM <---- mustn't ever forget that. Every time those two hug, I fall apart.

My personal favorite moment from Season 4 -- the official, physical introduction of Castiel. The entire episode, we kept hearing those shrill, whining noises, every time Dean was alone -- glass would start breaking, the room would glow white, the earth would start to shake, and all of it -- ALL OF IT -- was just Cas trying to speak to Dean. This powerful being (who thanks to Season 6, we now know is actually the size of the Chrysler Building) is summoned by Bobby and Dean -- and he's a tax accountant. But he goes about it all badass, because when he enters, the ground still moves, the earth still shakes, SPARKS ACTUALLY FLY as the lights explode, because the room cannot physically contain his presence, suppressed as it is in a human body. And then, that line, that one line that freaking MADE the season opener -- "I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition," -- followed by the pronouncement that he's an "angel of the Lord," and the appearance of those ginormous black wings. I think my heart may have stopped a couple of times during that scene, and I'm fairly sure I had a slack-jawed yokel look on my face, because OH MY GOD. Every time I watch it, I still get shivers.

  5. wooo... I REFUSE! I REFUSE TO CHOSE !!! NO NO NO! Lazarus Rising, On the Head of a Pin, It's a terrible life, The monster at the end of this book and Rapture. It's already a MIRACLE that I can pick 5 HOW CAN I PICK 1..

OH who AM I kidding? I'm a devoted minion OF COURSE ITS THE RAPTURE!!! I don't really like getting to know any thing about other caracter except dean and sam, dont care for mary, john even Bobby ( though I enjoy it in a small dose) but this ep was awesome. Loved Jimmy, love Cas LOVE MISHA what can i say.

  6. LOL FORGOT TO VOTE haahhaah. and to mention Yellow fever :DDD One of my only non angel episode favorite of this season (though a lot were about them so yeah... any way. awesome EYE OF THE TIGER!!!!)

  7. This is easier than the season 3 poll. 'On the head of a pin' and 'The monster at the end of the book' are both great episodes and I love to watch them over and over again. Alastair mind-torturing Dean while Dean tortures him his just awesome or the editor testing Sam and Dean about Supernatural never fails to crack me up. But there is still 'Lazarus rising'.
It's my absolute favorite episode of 'Supernatural'.
Dean coming back from the dead, the introduction of angels, the ipod in the Impala, Sam using his demon powers, Sam giving Dean the amulet back *wink* Sera Gamble *wink* etc. etc. It's my perfect 'Supernatural' episode.

  8. I'm torn between 'On the Head of a Pin', 'Monster Movie' and 'When the Levee Breaks'. Each episode encapsulates an aspect of the show that I really love, it's so hard to choose! But I think the reasoning (and the decision) shall have to wait until I'm more than 35% awake.

  9. This is an easy pick for me, although I love many episodes from this season (favourite season, after all). But my love for On the Head of a Pin is unbeatable.

What I love so much about this episode? Well, it's all drama and very intense. Dean forced to face his hell nightmare again, torturing again. And I tell you what, the torturing, playing evil Dean is hot as hell. I just love his expression when he approaches Alastair and says "you're lying". Just wow. But then again, who was being tortured here anyway? Alastair really was the darkest, the scariest, the most brutal demon of them all and this episode proved it as he managed to torture Dean mentally. Yeah, black belt in torture definitely. And then THE BIG REVEAL, probably the biggest of all from this season, together with Lilith being the final seal. Honestly, to know what Dean did in hell was heartbreaking and shocking enough, but to actually find out he broke the first seal was almost unbearable. Yeah, it's Dean who started the Apocalypse, not Sam, really. And suddenly the words from Heaven and Hell seem more understandable:
Dean: I don't break that easily.
    Uriel: Oh yes, you do.
Aww, poor Dean. And then Alastair beats him almost to death. And I'm a sucker for vulnerable Dean, so...

but then, there is more than this in this episode:
I think it's the first time we see Sam drinking demon blood. It's huge. And how creepy he gets when says to Alastair "now I can kill"...
This is also the episode that made me fall for Castiel. I liked him before, but since OtHoaP I just loved him. It's also when I first understood his bond with Dean. The "I was becoming too close to the humans in my charge... you" and "I would give anything not to have you do this" get me everytime. This is friendship, pal! I also love how he finally admitted his doubts.

So yeah, a pretty easy choice for me. But I also really loved Lazarus Rising (the big, kick-ass entrance for Cas), Death Takes a Holiday (Pamela's awesome spell and sad death, Tessa - I just love her - and the first time we see tha creepier version of Alastair), The Monster at the End of This Book (Chuck!!! and sitting in he laudromat :D) and Lucifer Rising (the big Lilith-is-the-last-seal reveal, great Dean-Cas conversations, rebelling Cas and of course the rising of Lucifer).

well, actually I loved most of the episodes in this poll, yes, including Family Remains ;)

  10. It's Lazarus Rising vs. On the Head of a Pin for me... Will decide.. someday.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think Cas got to have the best first appearance of all characters in this show. It was truly kick-ass. And I looooved the whole conversation with Dean.
    - Who are you?
    - Castiel.
    - Yeah, I figured that much, I mean, what are you?
    - I'm an angel of the Lord.
grrrr :) and then the wings and the look on his face - WOW

hehe and remember the next episode and Bobby's way to say "raise you from perdition"?:
"airlift your ass out of the hot box" lmao at the difference between these two :D

  12. On the Head of a Pin. I nominated 2 others but that is probably my third most watched episode. My reasons are:

    1. We found out the reason behind Sam's powers.
    2. Alistair. Some of his best lines too.
    3. Dean torturing Alistair.
    4. We found out Dean broke the first seal.
    5. Sam killng Alistair.
    6. The hospital scene.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Lazarus rising... that episode was totally awesome!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. On the Head of a Pin - Coz we finally found out about what Dean did in Hell, and not those rather annoying flases of red

    ReplyDelete
  15. to try and make this hurt less, i'm gonna put down the ones i want to vote for

    yellow fever
on the head of a pin
monster at the end of this book
    when the levee breaks
    lucifer rising

and now i'm stuck. anything past that i just can't pick. i never expected this season to be so difficult!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. We're just opposites. I love Bobby but I don't feel anything special about Cas. I feel that sometimes he's great but others he's just filler.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I feel bad coz every one always writes te elaborate messages on their choices and I never do
This is mainly due to the fact that once I start I will not stop!!
    Sorry
    Maybe next poll I will
Meanwhile I'll get back to the ever pressing dilemma of what to vote for

    ReplyDelete
  18. Nah I love cas. Hes just so funny (Bobby is too though)
I just love the hilarious bro moments between him and dean

    ReplyDelete
  19. I liked Lazurus rising. I mean Dean crawling out of the grave.... But we knew he was coming back, just not how. To me it would have to be "On the Head of a Pin." For all reasons everyone else has listed here. Happy voting and yeah the hellaitus is almost over with. Jan 28th is like my own personal Christmas Day :)

  20. Sounds like a movie! :D

  21. Come on! Do it! Haven't you noticed that we all love people who write novel-comments! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not now. It's kinda 1:40 In the morning. But I will Definately try to do one for the next poll
I do love reading what everyone else writes

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's probably among my most watched episodes too. I just can't get enough of it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. My least favourite season... Hated what happened between the boys...
So, i would go for WTLB (Jared was outstanding in that episode), but I chose sth lighter: Yellow Fever

    ReplyDelete
  25. Heheh, but I think I like bobby more then you like cas :(
POOR CAS *HUGS* hehehe. But I don't know how I would feel about him if it wasnt Jim Beaver cause I was already in love with him from Harper's Island :P

  26. Wow, Season 4 had so many great episodes! My top ones:
Lazarus Rising: Just awesome. Just so..so awesome.
    Monster Movie: Hilarious
On The Head of a Pin: my favourite mythology episode of the season (aside from the premiere)
The Monster at the End of this Book: Funny and gutsy, bonus points for Chuck

(Although I also loved Yellow Fever, Lucifer Rising, Wishful Thinking, It's the Great Pumpkin and In the Beginning...)
Wow this is going to be hard...
OK, well I'll go with Lazarus Rising..just because. Definitely my favourite season opener. Ever.

  27. Ok so I'm not sweating about this any more ....if Pigeon666 (aka Yoda) can be decisive so can I.....

On The Head Of A Pin

And because Yoda is not only decisive but also succinct.......

    1. We found out the reason behind Sam's powers.
    2. Alistair. Some of his best lines too.
    3. Dean torturing Alistair.
    4. We found out Dean broke the first seal.
    5. Sam killng Alistair.
    6. The hospital scene.

    So I pinched Yoda's reasons.....sue me...:P

  28. best season so far the only bad thing was ruby i hated her so much but omg castiel was in it and thats what gives it 10 so many episodes i like the rapture lazarus rising on head of a pin and more love season 4 xxx

    ReplyDelete
  29. The episodes at the end of season 4 were all spectacular. I think this was my favorite season altogether, but I have never anticipated an episode of a tv show like I did the premiere. Waiting for all those months, knowing Dean was in Hell, knowing Sam was going nuts, wondering how they were going to fix things and handle the emotional fallout as well as the physical had me giddy with worry and anticipation the entire summer! It was cruel, yet oh so satisfying when Dean and Bobby showed up at the scuzzy motel and Sam saw his 'dead' brother for the first time. Everybody together now... "Awwwwwwwww." So Lazarus Rising gets my vote.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I hate having to choose just one because there are so many excellent episodes in season 4 but I'm going to have to go with 'When The Levee Breaks' it was brilliant, one of my favourite episodes ever.

    ReplyDelete
  31. This was one of my faves, but the thing that knocked it down a notch for me is it spent too much time with the angels. Dean gets wrecked and then we see a moment of Sam in the hospital confronting Cas then 15 minutes of Cas and Co. I was more interested in the Winchesters at the moment than the angel showdown. We find out Dean broke the first seal, then Sam has the juice to gank a high-ranking demon, then Dean's on life-support then.... Cas and Uriel and Anna. Huh. When I rewatch this ep, I still FF thru most of that 15 minutes to get to the last scene in the hospital. I mean it was a big reveal that Uriel was behind the angel deaths, but the BIG reveal was finding out Dean jump-started the apocalypse. Just seemed like too much angels.

    ReplyDelete
  32. This one, not so easy anymore....

Narrowing down, narrowing down, narrowing down,...

OK: Head of a pin! (feeling slightly bad about all the other good episodes).

So many secrets revealed. Alistair was a creepy (in a good sense) villain. Dean´s transition from Padawan to Master torturer. Learning that Dean was also responsible for the apocalypse in a way and what that did to him (I wanted to hug him). Sam´s frightening appearance and his "...now I can kill!" (I went: Holy ****, yes!) - and Castiel looking freaked out.

And I loved the "get in there and heal! Miracle, now!" (could´ve been a classic Dean line).

    ReplyDelete
  33. Darn, they all are.

    ReplyDelete
  34. after a lot of internal debate, i decided to vote for the monster at the end of this book.
even though yellow fever always makes me laugh (eye of the tiger anyone?) and on the head of the pin and lucifer rising were so intense, i just loved the whole concept of Monster at the end of this book.
i know i've watched it the most out of any other episode from sesaon four.
i loved when the publisher questioned sam and dean about 'the books' and "lady, i'm crying inside right now."
it introduced chuck who i think is awesome and the new lillith, even though she was not as awesome as the numerous little girls she possesed.
it also had dean wearing pink flower band aids.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's actually about 8 minutes, but I get your point. I kind of feel the same way - love watching the first part of the episode, then it gets a bit too angel-heavy. Perhaps it's the reason why this episode is among my favourites, but not the favourite one.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Teach you the ways of deciding, I can...

    ReplyDelete
  37. I eventually went with 'When the Levee Breaks'. Not because I thought it was any better that 'On the Head of a Pin' or 'Monster Movie' (my other contenders), but because I did eeny meenie miny mo and this is what I came up with. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. def. yellow fever.
it was hilarious how dean freaked out!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I chose When the Levee Breaks because we were able to see what was going on in Sam's mind. Sam having the hallicunations and to except he was addicted to the Demon Blood was a very powerful episode. The scene where he was talking to Dean when Dean was not there was great. Having Sam hear Dean call him a monster was just heartbreaking. Also, Dean talking to Bobby telling him he would not let Sam become a monster was just so pivotal.
