Weekly Poll - Favorite Episode (Season 3)

Season 1 voting is almost over with Devil's Trap currently leading. No surprise that the three most nominated are the top 3, although it should be noted that Faith had 12 nominations while Devil's Trap only had 9.

Now we enter season 3 where the individual nomination numbers are higher than any other season. This one's going to be tough folks and it may be a nail-biter at the end. Vote and comment, because comments are the prize at the bottom of the Cracker Jack box.

Season One poll
Season Two poll
My recaps and old polls

32 comments:

  1. Why it's hard to choose in the season 3 poll? - Part 1

    1. The Magnificent Seven - drinking bleach death was gruesome; showed Dean's reckless, I'm going to die anyone attitude of the season, had my favorite Bobby line: "Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son" Bwah!. But mostly, for a season premiere, it was pretty standard MotW. A little disappointing.

    2. The Kids Are Alright - I love Lisa and Ben so this episode rocks! I love how Ben was a mini Dean and Dean's reaction when he thinks Ben might be his kid. Lisa was a strong PiP and mother. I also loved Ben's courage in getting the kids out and how he made sure everyone was safe before getting himself out. Plus, Katie may be the most creepy kid in the whole SPN verse. When she came back after the drowning and asked for ice cream, I think I was as freaked as her mother. Great all the way around. The end where Dean knows he can't stay but you can see how much he wants to just kills me.

    3. Bad Day at Black Rock - Awesome! On e of the best funny episodes of them all. It, like TKAA is made stronger by the great guest stars. From Gordon's "Sam Winchester must die" to Kubrick's "Don't play with my Jesus" to the thief who is really not a killer, the guest stars helped make this one. I loved the Rube Goldberg-esque way that people died and were knocked out and the fork death has forever made an impression on me. Plus, it has Bobby calling them idjits. Still, it's the lines and reactions that make this episode a win. We all know the classic "I lost my shoe" and "I'm Batman, but the small lines sink it. I love Gordon Walker's "Ooooh kay!" when Kubrick says God called him to kill Sam and the many little reactions, like when Sam just has to scratch his nose after Dean says not to. Love it!

    5. Bedtime Stories - Gets points for being original and I'm a sucker for fractured fairytales. What I really like is that Callie wasn't really a vengeful person, she just couldn't get other s to hear her. Still, this one doesn't have enough punch for my favorite of the season.

    6. Red Sky at Morning - well, it has the brothers in tuxes so that was different and a couple good brother moments. It has lines like "Can I shoot her?" "Not in public." and "Don't objectify me" but Kripke apologized for this one so there's not much more to say.

    7. Fresh Blood - Again, the episode is made by Gordon. Nice twist to turn him into a vampire although I bemoaned the death of him and Kubrick. Plus, Dean was awesome threatening Bella and Sam was awesome calling Dean on his fear of hell. But the real moment has to be when Dean teaches Sam how to fix the car. Aww - so poignant, so sad.

    8. A Very Supernatural Christmas - It's a perfect SPN episode and the best one to show someone who has never seen the show. It has the gore in spades, the humor "You fudgin' touch me again, I'll fudgin' kill you", phenomenal guest stars, the drama of Dean's impending death and wish for a Christmas, and of course the flashbacks. I would have been happy just finding out about the amulet, but it was so much more. The perfect newbie intro.

    9. Malleus Maleficarum - I loved how the witch demon nailed Ruby - such visceral pleassure, and Dean's bunny line. But, while witches are gross spilling their bodily fluids everywhere, they don't make for the best episode.

  2. great reasons
very excited for part 2 because it will include 2 of my all time favourite episodes (and my overall fave)
apart from the extremely funny stuff it contained, i also liked bad day at black rock because it introduced bela. i liked her mainly because of how much the boys hated her. i thought she was a great rival for them because she was not a monster or demon or even a hunter.

    AVSC is also great

  3. not as hard as the last 2, mystery spot is my all time fave.
i remember watching the very first time and just sitting in shock with my mouth wide open when dean died in the first few minutes. i think i've watched this episode more times than any of the others put together. and thats saying something!!
its also the first time i've truly wished we could vote for 2 so that i could vote for jus in bello. another brialliant episode which for some weird reason happened to be the last episode i saw form the first 5 seasons. no idea how that happened

  4. Season 3? Really? I haven't even chosen a season 2 favorite yet.....

    ReplyDelete
  5. I've got a hard 3.

Mystery Spot (our first glimpse of how far off the rails a Deanless Sam could go)
Jus in Bello (Finals Special Agent Jerkface gets a clue. IMHO one of the tighter eps of the series.)
Ghostfacers (just....just....I laughed so hard I was crying)

  6. There are some truly awesome episodes in this season, but I've decided I'm not gonna think too much about this one.....it hurts too much :P
so I've already narrowed it down to 6:
    The Kids Are Alright
    Bad Day at Black Rock
    Fresh Blood
    A Very Supernatural Christmas
    Mystery Spot
    Jus In Bello

I'm gonna sleep on it because these important decisions just can't be rushed...

  7. While I always love Mystery Spot and Jus in Bello, No Rest for the Wicked is my number 1 favorite episode so that get my vote. Season 3 is by far my favorite season too.

  8. It's always tough to decide between 'A very Supernatural Christmas' and 'Mystery Spot'.
Season 3 is over-all storyline is not that impressive but there are so many great indvididual epsiodes like AVSC, MS, JIB and GS. I love Christmas episodes and watch AVSC at least once during Christmas time, I love the story, the childhood flashback and the Pagan Gods but 'MS' manages to be funny and heart-breaking at the same time.

  9. Oh, decisions, decisions. I'm torn between 'A Very Supernatural Christmas' and 'Mystery Spot'. I love some of the others (for example, 'Bad Day at Black Rock' and 'Jus in Bello'), but those two stand out for me. I think I'll wait a while. Can't rush important decisions after all. :)

  10. This was quite easy. As much as I love Mystery Spot and NRFTW, I had to choose A Very SPN Christmas. It's something that I can watch every christmas (and every other day of the year too) without ever getting tired of it.

Everything about this episode is awesome... the drunk Santa, the pagan gods, young Sam & Dean, and the end scene (the boys drinking eggnog and watching the game)... <3

And I'm not even a christmas person. :)

  11. For me this was actually the easiest to vote for. As much as I loved season 3 (probably my favorite season), Jus in Bello is just the top for me.

  12. Why it's hard to choose in the season 3 poll - Part 2

    10. Dream a Little Dream of Me - The first episode that really focused on Bobby. This one had Dean giving Bobby a shot of reality "I'm not gonna let you die. You're like a father to me." but getting his own version from Demon Dean "You're gonna die and this, this is what you're gonna become." The beginning with Sam in the bar bemoaning the fact that Dean is going to die, the brothers racing to save Bobby, and Dean finally screaming to himself that John was an obsessed jerk who had no business raising kids put this way up there. Dean finally realizing that he didn't deserve to go to hell was awesome. Plus, Sammy saved the day with lingering questions of how. The Lisa dream was just a bonus.

    11. Mystery Spot - An example of an episode that sounded horrible in the synopsis, but turned it and Heat of the Moment into instant classics. (Let's hope the meta one does the same.) This may be the funniest episode of them all. I choked with laughter at the bad tacos and even now when I hear Asia I get the urge to straight arm dance. It had its drama too with Sam losing it once he thought Dean died for good. But the shining star is the Trickster - my favorite villain - returns. This one is made of win.

    12. Jus in Bello - The best of the mytharc episodes this season, we got a returning Agent Henrickson, another favorite. Add the "I shoot the sheriff" line and the awesome "When this is over, I am going to have so much sex….but not with you." I about fell over at that one. Throw in Lilith, a freaking nightmare in angel child's body, with the clever plan to win the day and you've got one of the best episodes Supernatural has ever done. I love how Henrickson switched sides after being possessed. Then to know that everything was for nada because everyone died anyway. Tragic but so memorable.

    13. Ghostfacers - Sorry, but I hate this one. I thought Corbett was okay and would rather either Harry or Ed had died. Then maybe they wouldn't take up any more screen time.

    16. No Rest for the Wicked - It all came down to the big question - Would they really send Dean to hell? With the writer's strike cancelling a good portion of the season, the question was on us too quickly. The pursuit of Lilith, finally trusting Ruby (that was a bad one), and the futility of it all made this a heart straining finale. The hell hounds tearing apart Dean's chest and Sam's reaction to it was stunning. But Sam's victory over Lilith was the most shocking and the biggest question for the hiatus, except of course, how Dean was going to come back.

  13. Ghostfacers - Just coz I find it hilarious!!!
Mystery spot and NRFTW is awesome But for me Ghostfacer won out!
(plus I've been voting for majorly angst-y episodes before so I thought I would for a humourous one!!)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Lauging at Mystery Spot feels so wrong, But it gets me everytime!

    ReplyDelete
  15. NRFTW. But I would vote for almost all of this, if I could:) I'm also surprised that nobody nominated Sin City... I almost did, but that 12 was hard enough to choose...

    ReplyDelete
  16. do not feel alone punkimunki. I laugh everytime I see it too. Getting shocked, the funny tasting taco, Oh the cute doggy :) Then Sam at the end hunting for the Trickster. Really good episode.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Maginificent Seven - really? Outside of meeting Ruby for the first time and understanding how all the other hunters are pissed that the boys opened the gate. That episode did not really hold much for me.

Bad Day Black Rock --- hands down one of the funniest episodes of all the seasons. Sam was just soo cute with the "come on" looks when the fire started. Or the puppy dog "I lost my shoe." I am torn between this one and Mystery Spot.

Mystery Spot --- Great episode!!! I think the reason why it is soo funny is b/c you knew for a while that Dean would not actual die....so watching the multiple silly ways he did was hilarious...with the dog, funny tasing taco, getting shocked, slipping in the shower, and come on the piano being dropped on him. Like the nod towards slapstick b&w comedies :) Then it got dark at the end when Sam was hunting the Trickster.

Myster Spot. Bad Day. Mystery Spot. Bad Day. Ohhh I can't decide!!!! Ugh :( Inny Minny Minney Moe....Bad Day won. voting for Bad Day :)

  18. Stupid Disquis! Can't.......get........it...there!
Yeah it really is a good episode! How Sam acts when he's holding Dean while he's dying gets me everytime!!, and whenever I watch this epsode again all I can think of is DODGY TACOS!

    ReplyDelete
  19. This is probably going to be the hardest poll for me. I nominated 3 episodes - Mystery Spot, Jus in Bello and No Rest For the Wicked.

No Rest for the Wicked: The main reason I love it so much is that Dean went to hell. So many other shows have considered doing something like this and not many have followed through. It was a lot like killing Azazel - a very brave thing. Also, it had the brothers SINGING WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE.

Jus in Bello: Action. Action. Action. Drama. Victor Henrikson. I shot the sheriff. Dean protects a virgin. Need I say more?

Mystery Spot: The best Jared performance ever. It had a perfect mix of comedy and drama. After the surprising car hit and shotgun, things fell into ridiculousity(Is that a word?) when he died 100 more times. It showed us what Sam would become - a very, very, dark person. It had the trickster in it. It had Heat of The Moment. It had some of the funniest lines ever. "Do these tacos taste funny to you?"

So my vote goes to Mystery Spot.

  20. The kid are alright!!!!!!!!!! I feel weird it's my favorite but at the same time its not. HAAHA. Because a very supernatural christmass and mystery spot are just too awesome for it to be BUT IT IS. lol I could watch this ep on repeat for hours. The little girl is creepy as hell, I'm in love with Ben and Lisa. Dean is HILARIOUS when he thinks that Ben is his son. And I still believe he is! damn it, a girl can dream.

I also have to say hoe mch I LOVED dream a little dream of me, for lisa but also cause the ep was just awesome and I loved Demon!Dean :D

-100 for the ghostfacers. to this day I havnt watch this episode without fastforwarding or stoping or not watching it all. I HATE IT! And I love the actors and usualy this is enough to make me like an episode BUT I CANT watch it, its crap. (Sorry, I believe it is crap better :D) I like the idea though, just didnt work out.

  21. Definitely: Mistery Spot. Do I really have to elaborate? OK,...
Dean´s funny ways of beeing killed.
Sam getting more and more impatient with each killing.
How it reminded me of Bill Murray´s "Groundhog day"
    The brotherly love
The classic Dean lines (Of course I peed myself...)
    The Trickster
    Asia
    Bobby

and everything else. This episode had drama and funny moments...so perfect for me :)

  22. For such a short season, this one had a lot of great standalone episodes. For my vote, it comes down to six.

The Kids Are Alright - for Lisa and Ben
Bad Day at Black Rock - for the one-liners
A Very Supernatural Christmas - for the guest stars
Mystery Spot - for all the Dean deaths
Jus in Bello - for the mytharc
No Rest for the Wicked - for actually sending Dean to hell

    ReplyDelete
  23. i don't get it either. its short but epic!!
i love this season, it has some of the best episodes ever!!
its also the first season i ever watched

    ReplyDelete
  24. I voted for Mystery Spot, everytime i see that desk fall on Dean, i die from laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hmmm.... little harder. I have quite a few that I absolutely loved; Jus In Bello, Mystery Spot, A Very Sup Christmas... the list goes on, but I have to go with the one that went where most 'normal' shows fear to tread: No Rest for the Wicked. What show in their right mind would kill off one of their two main characters and send him to Hell... as a season finale... with 4 months of no answers! All through season 3, even with the turmoil of the writer's strike and the relief of the eventual return of the tv season, I was convinced they would find a way to save Dean. I mean, the show can't survive without one of the Winchesters, right? And can a person go to Hell and come back a normal, walking talking functional human being? Seeing as Dean was basically the selfless hero of the story, to have him changed would have been devastating and completely screwed with the dynamics. It was obvious he would be back, but wondering whether he would be the same Dean I'd come to know and love was pure torture. I don't think I was ever as glad to watch a tv show as I was to watch the season 4 premiere (and the ratings said I wasn't alone!) and see the brothers reunited. So, yeah. I'm going with NRFtW, simply because it caught me off guard, then haunted me for months. Darn show.

  26. Ok so I've decided on a strategy....

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of an episode.......

    The Kids Are Alright.......miniDean
Bad Day At Black Rock........Sam: 'I lost my shoe'
Fresh Blood......... Gordon Walker: 'Sam Winchester's the antichrist'
    A Very Supernatural Christmas.......amulet
    Mystery Spot............Trickster
Jus in Bello.....OMG they killed them all

    So.
Based on this I'm tempted to vote for AVSC because I think of the amulet as representing everything that's awesome about the brother relationship - that's the basis of the whole show.....
    But......
Jus in Bello was the first episode I ever saw (actually I walked into the room just as a little girl walked in and nuked a police station and everyone in it - and promptly had to watch the whole episode) and I was gobsmacked that a show would do that......that the heroes don't always win.....
    So....
    Jus in Bello

    ReplyDelete
  27. I finally came to a decision: it had to be 'Mystery Spot'. Much as I love 'A Very Supernatural Christmas', MS is just such a fantastic episode. The time loop with Sam practically going through the 5 stages of grief, Dean's various (often amusing) deaths, that great scene in the diner where they talk in unison, a scary look at what Sam's going to become without Dean, and last but not least, the Trickster...this one is definitely in my top 5 episodes of all time.

    ReplyDelete
  28. great choice :D

    ReplyDelete
  29. interesting strategy.
when i think of bad day at black rock though i think of "i'm batman!"

its funny that jus in bello was the first one you saw because it was the last one i saw
great choice though, deffiantely one of the most awesome episodes ever!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hard to chose:
I love Bad day at Black Rock and A Very Supernatural Christmas, but I love Myster Spot and No Rest for the Wicked more...
I'm going to have to go with No Rest for the Wicked. Probably my all time favourite season finale.

    ReplyDelete
  31. easiest decision ever-Mystery Spot-my most favourite episode of the entire series
