We can reveal the following.

Episode 6.17 will be called "Gallows Pole"
It will be set in 1861
There will be a female angel called Rachel who is loyal to Cass and the cause
It also features a man wrongfully executed by hanging called Elias

We also have the following from the San Francisco Convention

    But where as "The French Mistake" is hilarious-crazy out there, this will be more serious, move the story along, out there. I like it.

    I've been fond of the Western Samuel Colt storyline ever since they wanted to do a spin-off series about it! I was worried they had abandoned the idea but they totally came back to it! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!

    Excited about this one. Wonder if the angel Rachel is the Lieutenant of Castiel's that has been mentioned in several articles? The old west meets the Winchesters....really can't wait!

    Bringing in Samuel Colt is pure brilliance. I really hope they do find him. (But I wonder the reason they'll have to look for him in the first place). Perhaps that Colt spin-off isn't a lost case yet? If they choose the right guy to portay him, they may actually be creating one of the best episodes of the show.
    And Cas will be in it!! yay!!!

    Oh, sounds interesting! We'll likely be seeing Castiel portrayed by a different actor in this one. It would be interesting to see someone else's take on the character. Misha will always be #1, though :)

    This episode sound very-very good. I had a hunch a while back that if the boys ever went back in time it would be because of Samuel Colt.

    I really love the idea, I can't wait for this episode. :D

    oh, that would be interesting, but I don't think so. When Cas travelled in time with Sam and Dean in previous seasons, he was still in Jimmy's body.

    I'm looking forward to seeing the boys reactions to the old west. Dean will love it! He's an outlaw at heart. Sam... probably not so much... do they make horses tall enough?

    Ha, i have actually been waiting for several years for them to use the name of this Led Zeppelin song as an ep title. I used it as a fic title ages ago. The lyrics are perfect:

    But it will have to be 'oddly tall' to accommodate the Moose...

    I agree a bit. The story is about evil things the boys fight, not angels... but I don't see them closing the angels story line anytime soon, seeing as how there's a civil war going on in their version of heaven. I never want them to be rid of Castiel though! He's awesome! (kinda miss humanized Cass though... just sayin'...)

    If my choice is keeping the angel storyline and keeping Cas or ending the angel storyline and writing off Cas, then I choose the latter. I hate the angels that much. However, the SPN writers are very clever. Surely they can find a plausible reason for Cas to stop by without dragging the angels into the midst of it. I'm hoping that the angel civil war ends this season and absolutely no mention whatsoever is made of them in season 7 and beyond. they are played out.

    I'm pretty sure in the movies "Back to the Future" Michael J Fox's character always goes to the past and has to find his way 'back to the future' if you get what I mean...

    Other horses 'make' horses... I still know how that all works, Jilly. I think. :P I'm gonna Google it.... :) Or... maybe not... that could be weird... I'll rephrase just for you: Do they 'produce' horses that oddly tall? Hmmm... not much better... I give up. *sigh* jingle, jangle... (I just saw True Grit and that's what the spurs did...)

    I'm not a big fan of time traveling to the past. Too much could go wrong. I mean what if the boys actions make it so that in the future they can't find the colt and don't kill the YED? I say let the past stay the past! I hope they have a really good reason for going back in time for the colt....Maybe they can find out how the colt was made and make their own. Dean and Bobby have made weapons in the past, it would be cool if they made a new colt or a new weapon altogether.
