Over at E!Online, they quote CW head Dawn Ostroff as predicting a season 7 for Supernatural. Great news for Winchester fans. Of course Dawn is reportedly leaving the CW this year so her successor may have to approve all renewals. In short, lots of optimism for a new season. Read below or go here.
Ostroff told us exclusively, "We haven't officially picked anything up yet, but [Supernatural] is creatively doing so well—and it's doing better on Friday night than it was on Thursday night—so I can't imagine we won't pick it up."
The network boss praised season-six show runner Sera Gamble, noting, "Sera's done a fantastic job this year. She's done an excellent job creatively."
"Our network team works with the Supernatural team very closely," says Ostroff, but the two sides have not yet engaged in any talks about a season-seven myth arc. "No, it's too far out. We haven't started talking about next year, but I'd be shocked if we didn't pick it up."
It sounds like the CW are starting to support Supernatural. We've had new promo pictures, congratulations on fan support, and I even saw Supernatural mentioned on a night that isn't Friday. Perhaps we might even get some music back! Here's to good things in 2011 for the show and its fans!

Things are looking up for the Winchester clan. If the current network head says she would be shocked if there were NOT a season seven, I'd say it's close to a done deal. My guess is that the numbers coming back after the hiatus will be the factor for locking down an early renewal.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, according to Jim Beaver, they have Bobby, Castiel, Rufus, and Grandpa Creepy all together for filming. Good news - that's a lot of excitement to look forward to. Bad news - they are all sick and shooting half the night in freezing temps. Send warm thoughts their way.
Ratings are gonna rock after hiatus... Sam's soul is back and it's back to hunting monsters and riding in the impala :) I truly cannot wait!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, they're all sick? :( I didn't know that part...
ReplyDeleteIf I had to put money on it, I'd bet the farm yes. And we can't forget the TV guide magazine, which should give the ratings a boost, though either late this season or early next.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Jim Beaver tweeted "Mitch is sick, Jensen may be, and my throat's tickling. I hope we're all getting better, not worse." So hopefully they all get better soon, there's nothing worse than trying to work while sick. Particularly in the cold. At night. *beams warm thoughts in the direction of the SPN set*
ReplyDeleteI am very favourably disposed to this news! :D
ReplyDeleteGetting the music back would be great! Keeps fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see more of Supernatural. it's the best show on tv. I'd watch for s7 8 9 whatever. As long as Jensen and Jared are in it.
ReplyDeletei have a feeling GG, 90210, Supernatural,ANTM and Vampire Diaries will be renewed next month
ReplyDeleteIf she thinks we're getting a 7th season, then we are DEFINITELY getting a 7th season. Supernatural season 7, here we come!! WOOHOOO!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI have a really good feeling that the second half of the sixth season will have a great upswing in terms of ratings and reception. I'm one of those people who's already been so very satisfied with how season six is going so far. I loved the twists and turns, all the shady kind of sideplots, and even Soulless Sam was very appealing to me. But I'm glad we have Sammy back now. That will probably add up to a lot of interesting plots in the future. There's the search for Purgatory, the monster armies building up, the civil war in Heaven, and the wall inside Sam's head (slowly crumbling). I cannot wait to see how it all turns out. :)
ReplyDeleteA lot of people forget that the CW is run by Warner Brothers and CBS. And as you remember Smallville,Supernatural and One Tree Hill were all WB shows. As long as the ratings are steady and the actors and producers want to continue Supernatural it will be on the CW. It does make money for the Warner Brothers/CBS as it is syndicated on TNT, DVD/Merchandise/Episode DL sales, Broadcast Rights in other Countries. And as far as I know Supernatural is the biggest syndicated show CW has going right now. If Warner Brothers wasn't happy with it, Season 5 would have been it. I mean Warner Brothers/CBS (that who the CW is) did extended Ackles and Padalecki's contracts to Season 7 this past Summer, why would they do that? It's because the figured more then likley depending on just a ratings failure on Friday they would renew it.
ReplyDelete"Our network team works with the Supernatural team very closely," What b.s., I have noooo faith in anything she says. She kind of reminds me of that coach from the movie "Rudy." He promised Rudy that he can play in the football game....knowing that he was leaving the team. And then the new coach came in and said no. I think that she is trying to make herself to be the better person. I usually don't hate people, but she keeps pushing me to that point.
ReplyDeleteThere are just way to many spoilers out there. I heard from a friend that the Family was at a Con and Misha was quoted that they may be smited by the CW. And personally it is NOT to soon for them to be in talks about a season 7. See, I call b.s. on her part. Ugh!!!!
Why can't the stupid CW just get on the ball with what shows they are keeping and canceling. It is not rocket science!!!!
So agree with there. And there has to be a season 7 b/c Sera has started new storylines and they will not be able to fully satisfy me with the answers in 11 episodes. They need to be smart and keep the show.
ReplyDeleteBiggest thing in our favor is that they don't have a lot to replace their shows and what they have added this year hasn't taken off like they wanted it to. I'd say that a lot of CW fans are safe for whatever show they watch. Of course, this could all change when the new CW head is chosen and begins making changes.
ReplyDeleteI really really want our show to stay. I just have NO FAITH in anything CW execs say. But I truly like what you say. Just one little problem. They brought on that new show "Shedding for the Wedding." I would say that they don't have QUALITY SHOWS to replace the shows they have now, but that does not stop them from adding bad shows. I am sorry but I just think it is crazy this obession has become because not only do you have Biggest Loser on NBC, now CW has their own show, and Oxygen Channel is coming out with a version for themselves. I hate it when Hollywood jumps onto others band wagon.
ReplyDeleteOh noo :O We better use our powers and like you guys said, beam warm thoughts towards them *BEAMS WARM THOUGHTS* :P
ReplyDeleteThank goodness they finally realize that Supernatural is an awesome show! Now if they move Nikita next season to Friday I bet that show would be awesome that time too.
ReplyDeleteSeason 7 is a done deal as far as I'm concerned....
ReplyDeleteNo question.
Because I always get what I want.....well in my head I do......
HOPE HOPE HOPE! (talkin about the music btw HAHHA)
ReplyDeleteLol and Jensen is sick to. Stupid weather
ReplyDelete:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
ReplyDeleteIt's Misha... He was probably lying, like always. LOVE HIM pwaahaha
ReplyDeleteIt's about time CW starts promoting #Supernatural more! Now that Smallville is ending they need to keep Supernatural on. As poplar as TVD is right now, one show can't cover entirely sci-fi/fantasy.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that Supernatural is the best show the network has... period... sorry not a vampire fan :P
