Stargate Universe to get Another Season After All?
18 Jan 2011
Cancelled ShowsStargate Universe producer Joseph Mallozzi has hinted that the series could still return for a third season despite being cancelled by Syfy. It was announced last year that Syfy was not renewing Universe after ratings fell below 1 million viewers and almost immediately rumours of the franchise once again moving homes began. Now the strongest sign yet that a deal to save Universe is on the cards has been given by producer Joseph Mallozzi.
"There is nothing definite as of yet to report, but a minor hurdle was cleared. Quite a few hurdles still lie ahead and there's always the chance it might all be for naught, but right now, things are looking positive. We spent a couple of hours in the late afternoon discussing the... game plan if it all goes well, and... I can assure you that it'll be very, very exciting for all." - Joseph Mallozzi writing on his blog
Ten episodes of Stargate Universe' second season remain to be aired on Syfy. The final batch of episodes will air on Syfy in the Spring. The third entry in the Stargate franchise launched with over 2 million viewers but towards the end of its first series ratings began to drop. The decline in ratings continued through the first half of its second series until they fell below 1 million at which point Syfy announced it was cancelling the spin-off.

Well that would be great because honestly the show did take a while to pick up but I've REALLY been enjoying it. People calling it Battlegate Galactica are being quite dismissive. But other than that, I would be happy if it somehow came back, if anything to wrap up storylines that are sure to be cliffhangers come the end of s2.
ReplyDeletethey have already said they need at least 5 seasons to wrap everything up properly
ReplyDeleteActually they said ideally it would take 5 seasons to properly layout the hints and the overall story, but if necessary they could wrap it up in one season. Which obviously would be a lot denser in material then if they spread it out over 3 additional seasons. Whatever may come, this is certainly good news! :)
ReplyDeleteThis show is terrible, it is hard to watch, the characters are uninteresting and unattractive. Don't care if the ship blows up and everyone is sucked into the vacuum of deep space. It is the exact opposite of what Atlantis was, a bright interesting set, freaky life sucking monster things, witty funny dialog, cool intersting technology... Universe is dark, depressing, boring broken ship, with terrible dialog and really nothing going on... Yes it will take 5 seasons to conclude since nothing has happened yet.
ReplyDeleteSG1 never bored me. Atlantis worked half the time. SGU did not attract me.
ReplyDeletei deffinetly want SGU to have at least another season to wrap everything up properly. Ideally i think 4 seasons would be the best.. but at least one more would be better than nothing. Despite what everybody says, it is the best stargate show yet. Yes, SG-1 was classic and we loved it but it couldn't go forever. Atlantis was good for like first season.. then the quality dropped significantly. I honestly have no idea how could it live untill season five. SGU has great character chemistry, actors, stories that are not only episodic ..it's more realistic and IMO it has great plot that i simply must see how ends. This is great news and who knows.. maybe stargate franchise will return back to showtime :)
ReplyDeleteWell all I can say is someone has more money than sense!!
