I did not expect an episode of this show to end on such a sad note...i just watched it and now I feel super depressed. Everything up until the depressing part rocked though
Not even close, by far the best episode this season. I caught the countdown right away and didn't have a clue what it was counting down to until the like number 3. The entire episode was amazing, that last scene was possibly the best acting by an HIMYM actors in the entire series, bravo to Jason and Allyson! Im not afraid to say i had a little bit of a silent cry at the end of the episode!
All the way through the episode there were numbers "hidden" (well not hidden exactly) in every scene, from 50 on leaflets in the first Dr's office, to 0001 on the cab and it counted down throughout the ep. "Motility Five!" being the best one. :D
For me, and I'm guessing for those of us who noticed, it was kinda fun to look for them all (I only missed #38) and wonder what it was about. I realised it would be something terrible when it got to #2 (Marshall's dad's clock in his workshop).
I think it was very very well done as a storytelling gimmick.
I have to agree one of the best episodes of the season and the series.
Aly's hubby back - Alexis Denisof as Sandy Rivers was hilarious. I just hope he comes back for another episode and that Robin pays him back for what he did to her.
I kind of figured at the end when Marshall was walking out and Lily had tears in her eyes that I knew that his father passed away from the #2 on the clock and figured that the countdown was leading up to Mr. Eriksons death. The promo pretty much gave away of me figuring out in the last scene that Mr. Erikson has passed away.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
lol spoiler alert, i am 2 mins in the episode and the numbers are counting down???
ReplyDeleteAwesome, amazing episode.
ReplyDeleteI had no clue what was up with the countdown and the end surprised me so much. Jason and Aly knocked that scene out of the freaking park.
It was such a hilarious episode and now I'm depressed. Best episode in a long time!
Why exactly are people giving it bad ratings?
There is no option for "OMG HORRIBLE CRUELNESS". That was...I'm quite depressed now.

ReplyDeleteMy god that was a brilliant episode. The acting in the final scene gave me shivers.
ReplyDeleteDont judge me for crying... I know you all did.

I really shouldn't have looked at the Facebook comments.... to paraphrase: "How dare you write the first episode back to be sad?!!!
ReplyDeleteSaw those idiotic comments too. A bunch of whiners.

ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on last night's episode.

I was nearly crying myself very sad.
Oh, not to mention Jason Segels reaction in the end and the look on his face of him looking lost was a scene stealing moment great acting from Jason
