The Office - Casting News - Ricky Gervais to Guest

Jan 19, 2011

Sources confirm that Ricky Gervais is poised to reprise his role from the original overseas version of the comedy in an upcoming episode of the U.S. redo. As you’d expect, details are sketchy. But what I’m being told is that Gervais — who not only created the British Office but retains an exec producer title on the American remake — will cross paths (and perhaps swords?) with his Yank counterpart, Steve Carell’s Michael.

  1. Urgh. The English Office is really funny and everything, but everything he has done since then is just not funny. Seriously, I don't like this.

  2. This is cool news.

Big Office fan on both sides of the Atlantic, and I love Gervais. Could be good, if true!

  3. I don't like his new TC shows and movies, but his stand up comedy is awesome.

  4. Yeah, I find him less funny as time goes on.

  5. It would be pure awesomeness if David Brent becomes the new manager of Dundler Mifflin in season 8. I hope he guest-stars in the US version to smoothe that transition. Gervais is so funny, he is probably the only actor I consider to replace Steve Carell.

  6. I've never found him funny unfortunately so I'm not looking forward to this.
