How I Met Your Mother - Casting News - Katy Perry to Guest

NEW YORK - Pop star Katy Perry will guest star on an episode of CBS hit show How I Met Your Mother later this season as a potential love interest for Josh Radnor's Ted, CBS said Thursday.

The episode, titled Oh Honey, will see her play Zoey's (Jennifer Morrison) cousin, described as "a beautiful, naive girl who the gang resorts to calling 'honey'."

"Katy is a tremendous talent and we are delighted to be able to work with her," said Carter Bays, co-creator and executive producer of the show.

    I think there is a HUGE difference between having guest stars to break up routine in a series and a struggling series having stung cast guest stars in an attempt to revive the series for the long term or save it in the short term. Not every guest star is "stunt cast" just because the are a "hot" pop culture persona. Sometimes the showrunners have the idea for a guest character that a celeb personalty already fits, and of course other times they are fnas of a celeb and create a character around them. Either way, the celeb guest stars on HIMYM have been FABULOUS in the past so I do not see why Katy would be any different....
