The doctor is out… or at least she will be by the end of the season. House creator David Shore confirms to TVLine exclusively that Amber Tamblyn’s stint on the show will conclude this spring.
Although her deal with the show was only for one year — she was brought in to full the temporary void left by Olivia Wilde’s Thirteen — the boss was hoping the Joan of Arcadia actress would extend her stay. “I wish she was sticking around, because she’s wonderful,” he says. “But she’s not going to be with us for [much longer].”
Tamblyn’s whip-smart MD-in-training Martha Masters will depart right around the time Wilde’s ailing Thirteen is slated to check back in (I hear the two will briefly cross paths). Shore says he’s “literally working” on the script for her final episode right now. “We’re going to give her a good sendoff. I’m not at liberty to discuss any details,” he insists, “but she’s getting a good sendoff.”

I will miss her and her interaction with House :(
ReplyDeleteHopefully she will get "a good sendoff", I'm curious what that will be.
This really blows. Tamblyn's character was the best cast addition since Amber "cutthroat bitch" Volakis and they didn't keep her either.
ReplyDeleteDisappointed is the Word.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you all, she was a good character. Probably one the best new characters added to the steady cast and her influence on Greg's behavior.
ReplyDeleteGuess, I'm alone in thinking good riddance. No offense to the actress, but Martha Masters is a really weak character and deserves to go. Maybe House writers aren't skilled at creating female characters, but MM is like a watered down version Cam. If she'd been more original/had more depth then keeping her around would make sense.
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone. I really didn't care much for Cam, and while I disagree with you on the watered down part (personally I think she has Cam's most aggrevating "don't break this moral code, wah, don't break that moral code" and unlike Cam, not a whole lot else. Gah. I don't dislike Amber Tamblyn, but as for Martha, good riddance. The whole pinning someone with a strong moral compass against House thing has been done and I for one am tired of it.
ReplyDeleteAlso why can't any of the female characters on House actually go along with, or share House's moral ambiguity? I'm not suggesting we as females should follow his sometimes immoral reasoning- only that it might be fun to watch.
