Fringe - Major Storyline Rumor

Jan 14, 2011

No idea if this is true, I guess we'll find out soon... or not.

I'm a Vancouver Fringe fan, and as often happens in cases like this, I know people who work on the show. I have a MAJOR spoiler for you all that I've been sitting on for about a month now out of respect for the people who shared it with me. Now that I'm getting signs that it's about to start leaking for real, I'm going to let it out myself.

Alt-Livia is pregnant and we'll be finding out about it coming up pretty soon. The episode in which we learn this was in post-production about a month ago so it should be airing in the near future.

What do you guys think about this spoiler and the potential implications it has for the storyline and Peter/Olivia?

  1. oh no! oh no!! omg! ahhh, this is going to be very very crazy!! poor our Olivia!! I wonder how they find out?

  2. NOOOO !!! WTF ?????????????????? THAT CAN'T BE REAL !!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Oh god that's so .. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
    =(

    ReplyDelete
  4. say what? i hope peter is not going to get any ideas in his head, though i'm sure he will, but hey i can still hope i'm wrong. dude....

    ReplyDelete
  5. Holy Crap this crazy this is the end for Peter and our Olivia relacionship

    ReplyDelete
  6. No way this is true.If this happens it will ruin the show.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I thought Fringe was better than this. If this really happens I'm done with this show lol

    ReplyDelete
  8. Seriously? Blah :-/ That's on the same blah scale for me as Lana getting "pregnant" with Lex.

    ReplyDelete
  9. It can't be true! No, it has to be a mistake. Altivia CAN'T be pregnant. Dear God, She is a grown woman! Four weeks from the first time with Peter and get pregnant? What, in over there don't use protections? Or is so important for her win the war against over here? Too high price to pay, I could say.

If this is true, I will be very, very sad, for all of them and the entire show :((

    ReplyDelete
  10. I, for one, am perfectly okay with this happening. The best part, by far, of the entire third season has been the Peter/Olivia/Bolivia drama and if this is how the show decides to extend that drama then I'm all for it.

I feel sorry for Olivia, though. Way to kick someone when they're down, Fringe writers. Yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I know, they are REALLY kicking her when she's down! like I've been thinking... If this doesn't make her catatonic, I don't know what will!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. The most interesting part will be HOW Bolivia shows up again. If she's going to come back and use her pregnancy to manipulate Peter, it could be a shining moment for Olivia to assert herself and protect Peter. If, however, she shows up seeking asylum for herself and her baby then it's going to be an absolute nightmare for Olivia.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Peter and Olivia are done, Peter actually loves Alt-Livia that is why he couldn't tell the difference between the two... Alt-Livia is he Olivia the way Peter would want her to be...

    ReplyDelete
  14. i really hope it puts an end to Olivia/Peter, they should remain best friends

    ReplyDelete
  15. Dear Fringe-- I stuck with you throughout ALL of Seasons 1 and 2. I never missed a live episode of you, and decided to stick with you even through the likes of Molebaby. I witnessed your changes, most of them for the better. But this pregnancy thing? It better not be true. I won't say it would be jumping the shark (I hate that phrase), but as a dedicated viewer, it would be symbolic of you stepping a little too far away from your former self. I never thought I'd see a pregnancy on Fringe, especially not one with Holivia, who has only been a character for about half a season. I hope this rumor is false.

    ReplyDelete
  16. and by the way-- this BETTER not be what they meant when they said they were going to start making the show "appeal to teenage viewers"

    ReplyDelete
  17. OMG...I for one am going to have fate that is story line will turn out OK, on paper half of stuff Fringe does should not work but it does due to good writing, direction, acting etc...If Olivia find out it would be the end of relationship between Peter and Olivia and maybe there friendship

    ReplyDelete
  18. I would love to see an arc of the show where Olivia and Bolivia occupy the same space. If they had to begrudgingly work together that would be even better. Just thinking about those two being in the lab together makes me smile. The tension would be magnificent.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I disagreed with this when I first read it. However, if they do it right and not turn it into a soap drama, it could be very exciting.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Considering Altlivia is on the list posted by Kristin on E! its looking like its more than likely. I love Fringe and usually I don't mind stories like this but NOT on Fringe

    ReplyDelete
  21. what about peter? Peter is the one being punished on this show. They made him dumb, oblivious and couldn't tell the differences and now he knocked up another Olivia and he gets a baby out of it? Sorry but Olivia is not the only person who will suffer from this. Its obvious nobody cares about Peter anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's silly. It's just your reactionary disappointment talking. I've never bought into the whole "Peter is written dumb because he couldn't tell two identical people apart who've lived similar lives" shtick. It's bogus. Besides, it's been known forever that when strong emotions are involved even the smartest person can become a dimwit. Emotions are well known to be able to screw anything up.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah I'm with you on this...While it devastates me (I had come to the conclusion already before this spoiler because of the 4 different places that hinted to it) it's not like these things don't happen when two consenting adults kick up the notch on their relationship...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Exactly. I'm more concerned with how the child will be used, not with the fact that there's a child in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I smell it coming with the spoiler tv post which character on a show is pregnant? Too easy people... this cannot be true... really I HOPE this is NOT true!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I freakin knew it when they had that post here too. Ugh!!!! So predictable. So I am assuming that there will be some kind of super growth and the boy (you know it going to be a boy) will come over into Peter's reality and challenge him. Or he is going to be a clone of Peter and there will be no worries about needed the original Peter to start the war. Oh why would they do this???? I will try to coninue to watch the show, but I have no hope for future viewing. Ugh!!!! I was really really liking this show. Damn it!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'll keep watching and see how it goes, but the whole idea of how it could go gives me a sour taste.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well, all day there's been this eonline contest about "Guess which character gets pregnant" and among other characters' pictures there's Olivia. So I'm a little bit prepared but not happy. Could they possibly have only one of the Olivia's pregnant and the other not? Could they possibly, like, CHANGE THEIR MINDS?!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. No, No Hell No.... It better just be a rumor....

    ReplyDelete
  30. but to her, it wouldn't be asylum, she sees our side as the dangerous or bad side as Walternate told her and the others they were.

    ReplyDelete
  31. So I'm gonna believe that this is someone wanting their 15 minutes of controversy spinning the E! Kristin article in their favour. Maybe I'll put out an anonymous spoiler that Emma on Glee is pregnant. Oh so is Thirteen on House!

    ReplyDelete
  32. She was already beginning to doubt that by the time she went back "over there."

    ReplyDelete
  33. i agree, and it's a VERY stupid way to ruin the show!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. No, I see that Peter is also getting screwed by this situation as well, but it is just the way its been so far the show is practically from Olivia's perspective so we just first think of how it will effect her first. But yes poor peter as well, he's got a dicision to make when the worlds colide, save his backstabbing/lying/single mission minded baby mama Oliva, or our Olivia. Sorry Altlivia, but in this sitch, thats kinda where you stand.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I agree with you there Bruce_F, thats what I thought too.

    ReplyDelete
  36. wouldn't you think though, that they would have a better form of birth control in the alt universe, I mean seriously! everything else is technologically advanced why would that be as well, and why wasn't altlivia using she did have a bf back in that world, technically if she was using it this shouldn't have happened.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree that the birth control issue is the one possible flaw in this supposed plot but there are two things to keep in mind:

    1) Not everything "over there" is better or more advanced than over here and...
    2) Condoms break.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Are you serious?! I can't believe that they would create this ridiculous story line! If this is true...I think they just lost a fan in me! I mean, c'mon! We've been waiting for a Peter and Olivia hook up since day one! And Olivia and Peter have already gone through soooo much and they haven't even been together! And now he's a baby daddy?! Absolutely the worst plot line ever!

    ReplyDelete
  39. no...no...No...No...NO! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I had feared that this would be a possible storyline what with the alternate universe needing Peter's DNA. If it's true, it would make for a super-child now that Walternate is also in possession of cortexiphan. I have faith in the writers, but I have to admit, this would be sort of cliche and disappointing. I've never been a fan of baby storylines, even the William storyline in The X-Files. The Fringe writers always surprise me though. I never liked love triangles either, but I was pleasantly surprised by this season's.

    ReplyDelete
  41. WTF??? Really hope that this rumor is NOT true!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Can't remember the exact article, but it was said by the producers and posted on EW. Something about promoting certain aspects of the show to appeal to the teenage demographic. I'll keep looking for the article.

    ReplyDelete
  43. everybody think that moving to friday nights will mean the end of fringe but I think that THIS will be the death of fringe

    ReplyDelete
  44. everybody think that moving fringe to fridays will be the end but I think that THIS will be the death of fringe

    ReplyDelete
  45. Calm down people, this rumor isn't true.
Someone's trying to get attention, that's all.

    ReplyDelete
  46. ok... so what is your theory then, what do you think altlivia will do?

I also read on another spoiler note that in the episode on the 21st that "there will be a thing with altliv at the end of the episode, that will be big but if you blink you'll miss it" what do you think that is? you think she will find out or something, or try to come back idk?

also, in entrada when altliiva crosses back over she's happy at first but then after she looks around she seems a little reminiscent, i'll admit of the other side.. but idk i think she still likes being back

    ReplyDelete
  47. but jeff, what about ew picking it up to and talking about it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm sorry, EW ? Where?

    ReplyDelete
  49. not EW sorry, I think Kristen from E!, its mentioned in some of the other's reply's to this thread, she's doin a countdown pull on who's gonna be preggers I think. Check out her site or keep looking around on spoiler tv

    ReplyDelete
  50. Wow. People have mixed feelings about this.

I'm not sure how I feel atm :P

    ReplyDelete
  51. The Jasika Nicole quote reads:

"You're going to get your first hint about what it means in the first episode back, at the very end. And if you blink you'll miss it. It's something at the very, very end if the episode — a little trigger — and it [points to] something that happens in the future. It's going to link the universes in a way that they have never been linked before."

Maybe there's a positive pregnancy test in the trash at Olivia's place.

"also, in entrada when altliiva crosses back over she's happy at first but then after she looks around she seems a little reminiscent, i'll admit of the other side.. but idk i think she still likes being back"

Despite whether or not Bolivia's attitude has changed about the "war", "over there" is still her home and it's where here friends and family are so I'm sure she is glad to be home no matter what her situation or state of mind is.

    ReplyDelete
  52. There is absolutely NO WAY that this can be true. Fringe writers wouldnt do this to their fans! Fringe is NOT a soap opera!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. i agree. What then do you make of the previews for next weeks episode, predating thesee issues?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh please no...I really hope this whole pregnancy fiasco is wrong! I mean isn't Olivia had enough?! The poor woman has been abducted, tortured, brainwashed, betrayed, deceived, and now what? Her other self is currying the child of the man she loves?! Hell no! Leave Olivia alone!!
But I do have fate in the writers… they wrote an amazing and brilliant plot so far, so I trust them and keep my fingers cross till next week.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I didn't think the Fringe writers would have gone that far with a romantic triangle plot or with stretching out Olivia's return and an alternating episode format for half a season... I've been really wrong before. But this is such a bad idea. There's no coming back from this if they do it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yeah i'll take 3 season of great writing over one Livejournal troll any day.

    ReplyDelete
  57. my train of thought is leading to Peter & the baby share DNA so now Peter wouldn't be the only one who could control the machine.. maybe she'd return to protect the baby from Walternates plans for it.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It looks like a "bridge" episode. It'll probably be case-of-the-week heavy with a scene here and there about Olivia trying to re-acclimate to being "over here." I'd hazard a guess that the show won't jump back into the personal issues all that much for another episode or two.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh AlexINTJ...i didnt want Olivia and Peter to get together at all......but i do have to say that i have absolutely loved the storylines running through season 3 thus far. It has brought even greater depth to an already BRILLIANT show. Alternating between Over There and Over Here was great also....but i am glad we are back to OUR universe though. I dont know how much more physical abuse my tv could put up with beacuse every time Alt-livia was on screen there was more than just abuse hurled at it. I LOATHE that woman. Anna Torv has done such a great job thus far...but alternating between being pregnant and then not.....well thats one job im sure even she would draw the line at. IT IS NOT going to happen. Curse the twit who started this supposed rumour. They must be laughing so hard at we Fringies and the mayhem they have caused. Curse them!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. but the baby wouldn't be old enough to be used for that until like a year or two for the hand thing i bet

    ReplyDelete
  61. It can't be true.
The show is on risk of being cancelled... They would NOT disappoint the fans this much with this risk. Only a few like Alt-Livia.
It would make me dislike the show, even if just a little.

    ReplyDelete
  62. It wasn't just Peter who didn't notice, EVERYONE thought Alt!Liv was their Liv, there was no reason not to think that. Even her blood family Rachel and Ella didn't realize. Peter isn't to blame for any of this, nor is he dumb.

And as for the knocked up thing, she's with Frank still, so here's what I'm thinking and this is probably so wrong but it could happen; Frank gets Alt!Liv pregnant and she decides to trick Peter into coming over to their side once again. Like I said probably WAY off base, but remember Peter isn't the only one Alt!Liv's been sleeping with.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Just no way.
Fringe has a risk of being cancelled. They would NOT make that to the fans. I'm a *huge* Fringe fan and that would disappoint me a lot. I would no longer like the show as I do now.
Only a few people like Alt-Livia.
Fringe is a smart show. They can do the math well enough not to make her *really* pregnant.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Huh, no wonder Peter gets criticized for not being emotional or is merely a plot device, everything is so one sided, Olivia's side. I guess peter's feelings don't matter right only that annoying blonde with that boyish voice?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Its a picture of Altlivia (she's listed underneath the picture)

    ReplyDelete
  66. i can't believe it!!! i want peter and the REAL olivia together

    ReplyDelete
  67. No, Peter's pov matters, I'm just saying that people are in my opinion following the main character and then the second lead Peter. Everyone choosed different people they can relate too.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I can't believe everyone is taking this spoiler seriously. It's called a spoiler for a reason. It may or may not be true. I won't believe this until I get it from an actual source or actually see it in an episode.

    ReplyDelete
  69. when did altlivia meet her Olivia's immediate fam?

    ReplyDelete
  70. I read this and then read "Source: Livejournal" and thought "thank God, it's bull".

And the "oliviaandpeter" Livejournal no less. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  71. personally if this was true...well it wouldn't be clever to do, especially since the show is on shaky ground at the moment....Fringe is a lot smarter than this than to resort to SOAP OPERA plot lines.....I have faith that this will turn out to be FALSE but if not....i'm not feeling it, and worried about the possibility that this could damage the show....Fingers crossed it's FAKE :))

    ReplyDelete
  72. this was also posted as a possibility by Eonline, they are doing a kind of pregnency pull, having us guess who it is and ALtlivia is one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  73. When I first read this, my first thought was just NO.
But if it does turn out to be true (a big IF there), I would definitely give it a chance: hopefully there would be a purpose to this storyline besides just the soap-opera drama. I have faith in you, Fringe writers.

    ReplyDelete
  74. COME ON GUYS !! ARE YOU SERIOUS ?? BELIEVING THIS SHITS THAT SOME PATHETIC LIVEJOURNAL DUDE JUST SAID !!??? I THOUGHT WE WERE BIGGER THAN THAT !!!

THAT JUST CAN'T BE TRUE !!! SO STOP FREAKING OUT, AND BELIEVE IT WHEN IT'S ALREADY IN THE SHOW, OR IF SOMEONE CONFIRM IT !!

TILL NOW JUST STAY CALM, AND STICK TO THE SHOW !

I'M JUST LOL RIGHT NOW !! (you guys shouldn't believe these shits) !

    ReplyDelete
  75. The reason I doubt it's true is because wouldn't it need to be Olivia's baby to make a link between universes since Peter is from the other one? I don't know. I think this is just someone trying to get our dander up and it's working.

    ReplyDelete
  76. i agree that is what i was thinking he and altlivs baby would technically be of the same world just conceived elsewhere

    ReplyDelete
  77. Given the "pot stirring" that FOX President Kevin Reilly did the other day re: Fringe V Supernatural. Could it be a Supernatural fan .....having fun with we Fringies? I mean, it seems to have caused quite a stir.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I could see Walternate threatening to use Peter Jr. in the machine in order to get Peter to use the machine willingly to keep the kid out of it. Maybe they could have an episode where the Olivia's trade consciences or something, who knows. Then it could be Olivia's kid instead.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Not being able to tell the difference isn't that weird. The Olivias aren't sisters, or even twins. They are the same person in different universes. It's not like they were married for 15 years or something either, Peter and Olivia were just starting to get serious with each other. At least Peter was honest about everything with Olivia. I don't understand why people wanna give him a hard time when does the right thing most of the time and tries to be honest and he seemed sincerely upset with himself.

    ReplyDelete
  80. sitch? really? that's not cool.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I don't think that's off base at all, I was gonna say the same thing actually. I could even see this being Walternate's idea.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I don't like this spoiler ... I hate Alt-livia >.<

    ReplyDelete
  83. I agree wholeheartedly. And I was fine with the story-lines in season 3, I just didn't think they would manifest a lot of what they did, so my 'writer radar' certainly hasn't been as accurate as it has been in the past. I hope someone is laughing. Altlivia made me pull out my hair too, and this is going to make it even worse if it is true. I'm going to try and whistle in a corner until it is negated...

    ReplyDelete
  84. I don't remember specifically either, but I did read something like that too, so I'll back you up on that.

    ReplyDelete
  85. people said similar things about Lost, but most would agree that it turned out great.

    ReplyDelete
  86. or what if Bolivia died and Olivia ended up raising the child or something?

    ReplyDelete
  87. oh this is ridiculous? but alternate universes, walking through walls, mind control, and shape shifting is plausible? yeah...ok. That is a stupid ass reason to stop liking an awesome show.

    ReplyDelete
  88. it says rumor, actually, not spoiler. And it does not say that Peter is the father either. People need to realize Bolivia may have let other men into her vagenda!

    ReplyDelete
  89. wow, the "reading voice" in my head was screaming as I read that!

    ReplyDelete
  90. a) I wouldn't call Kristin Dos Santos the most reliable source and b) Callie from Grey's anatomy was on the list, and guess who was revealed to be pregnant on last night's Grey's Anatomy?

    ReplyDelete
  91. IT WAS REVEALED LAST NIGHT ON GREYS THAT CALLIE IS THE ONE PREGANANT!!! So we can stop worrying. That is a relief!!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Turns out it was neither Olivia. It's someone from Grey's Anatomy. Phew!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. My nerves. My poor nerves.

    ReplyDelete
  94. The writers have won my trust in the last year. As long as it doesn't resemble the ridiculous Rambaldi baby storyline from Alias, I'll stick around.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yeah, totally agreeing with you here. If Altlivia gets pregnant, I don't think it's going to be a "poor Olivia" situation, rather than a "poor Altlivia" situation. Imagine what would've happen if Walternate had that info - she would either be killed or kidnapped, pumped with drugs or even subjected to whatever weird treatment he has... not to mention the poor, defenseless child (I do believe he has some pretty effed up priorities!!). I'm pretty sure she would become disposable as soon as the baby was born! But maybe that could create a plot-wise problem regarding Doomsday Device, since it would no longer require Peter to activate/run it... And then again, it's not clear that Altlivia's pregnant with Peter's baby...

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yeah this is my problem with this is it's true. Highly likely the real father would be Frank and not Peter so not sure if there's an ulterior motive here.

I'm gonna hold off on this one until I see it myself; the show returns this Friday. Let's see if this spoiler turns foiler (guess I'm hoping that's what it is).

    ReplyDelete
  97. Ehh, really wish I hadn't read this. After all those years of trying to avoid Lost spoilers you'd think I would have learned lol

    ReplyDelete
  98. Kinda sad that the pregnancy rumor was absolutely true and we didn't believe this rumor. I owe who ever stated this a big apology.
