John Goodman is joining the cast of Glenn Close's legal thriller Damages in the season's key season-long guest role. He'll play the CEO of a shadowy military contractor who becomes a defendant in a wrongful death suit over an incident in a war zone, producer Todd Kessler tells USA TODAY's Gary Levin.
"John Goodman's phenomenal body of work speaks for itself. And we've been huge fans of his for years," says Kessler. "It's a real thrill to be adding an actor of John's extensive range and talent to the cast of Damages. We can't wait to pit him against Glenn Close and Rose Byrne in our fourth season."
The former FX series' fourth season will air this summer exclusively on DirecTV. Goodman is best known for his role on ABC comedy Roseanne and recently co-starred in HBO's Treme. Previous Damages guest stars included Ted Danson, William Hurt, Martin Short and Lily Tomlin.

It will be nice to see Goodman in a more dramatic role and not the goofy fat guy. He is too often underestimated as an actor.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you are talking about Treme, but that was a dramatic role after all. Plus, he also co-star You Don't Know Jack (with Al Pacino) and he was amazing in that too.
ReplyDeleteLoved him in You Don't Know Jack! I have not watched Treme yet. I did not mean he is type cast or does not do drama much, more that I prefer him in his dramatic roles to the more comedic roles he does sometimes. He has been doing more of them lately and I am liking him more and more.
ReplyDeleteHe was fantastic in O Brother Where Art Thou.
ReplyDeleteDamages will be even better than ever this season! :)
The casting director of Damages really needs a raise. They never get it wrong.
ReplyDeleteTHIS.
ReplyDeletePerfect casting ALLLLL around.
