"It was a decision from AMC that they wanted to position us in July... They want to attract as many eyeballs as possible, away from the heavy competition of the September, November [or] January start," he said, before going on to throw a bone to fans of AMC's top drama, The Walking Dead.
"I believe they're going to put Walking Dead in July as well."
Now, of course there's the fact that Cranston is just an actor, and isn't involved much at all in the scheduling process for shows. For him to volunteer that, though, makes that statement that much more true. How great would it be for us to get our dose of zombies three months earlier than expected?

Nice idea, but I don't think it'll happen. They would have to start shooting really soon and so far there are no signs hinting towards that. And I'll rather wait a few months longer and have those awesome AMC shows a bit apart from each other. Plus the Halloween setting is just perfect for a TWD season to start.
ReplyDeletewhy not Chaos only recently started filming and is premiering in April so if TWD start filming in April they should be ok
ReplyDeleteI think it's possible that The Walking Dead starts in July : they can't have the season 2 premiere on Halloween, there are 13 episodes this time, not 6, and usually AMC don't cut seasons of their shows with a 3 week Christmas holiday break, most cable channels with 13 episode seasons don't do that (FX, Showtime, HBO).
ReplyDeleteIf I had to guess, I'd say : Breaking Bad season 4 + The Walking Dead season 2 throughout the summer and the Series Premiere of Hell on Wheels in late september (it's a 10 episode season I think, so it would fit).
I can't wait to see the new season of Breaking Bad anyway, and I'm not that impatient to see more of The Walking Dead considering the 1st season was a huge disappointment, but I'll tune in to see if the writers finally got back on the comic-books path.
Didn't we already hear that it was going to be a full year until season 2 of The Walking Dead would air? things can always chang but that is a DRASTIC CHANGE!
ReplyDeleteMost of the cable series often seem to finish their filming (or be most of the way through the season) before the first episode of the season even airs. I think thy would need much more lead time to get a 12/13 episode season completed.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have heard TWD is really one of those series where it pays off to not be familiar with the books/comics before watching the TV series. EVERY person I know that had not read the comics LOVED the TV series, but a few fans o the comics had issues with the changes. Although, honestly, most of the comic fans still enjoyed the series from what I heard. I am glad I am not a comic book fan even more now! lol
ReplyDeleteWas it just the discrepancies between TV and comic you did not like or something more Bunky? I thought it was incredibly well directed and acted and written(although as stated I cannot compare it to the comics).
Haven't read the comics before the show started and loved the show, but I recently read some of the comics after hearing that they were published by Image Comics and I'm a huge Spawn/Todd McFarlane fan. Having read the comics I have to say some casting choices were a bit odd and the detour with CDC in Atlanta was huge, but nevertheless I really like the adaption.
ReplyDeleteThe Dixon brothers are a great addition (especially since Norman Reedus is playing Daryl and I never get tired of seeing this actor) and the big confrontation between Rick and Shane is just delayed in my opinion. I won't say anything more, because I don't want to spoil/ruin anything for those reading the comments.
It just was a short 6 episode season and with the stories I read that came up in the comics after leaving the camp they have great material for a second season.
Yes, we did. But Cranston mentioned it in an interview 2 or 3 weeks ago. So far it's only a rumour and as already mentioned I don't think it'll happen, but I thought it's worth mentioning.
ReplyDeleteIf they took on a formula like many network TV shows and were only a few episodes in the can before airing the season two premiere I guess it could work, and I would enjoy not having to wait as long. It would certainly be a nice addition to my Summer TV schedule! It was certainly worth mentioning ... any words from Cranston's mouth are ok to mention by me! Seems to be a good guy as well as a good actor from what I have read on this site... always a plus.
ReplyDeleteTWD had a huge presence at SDCC '10. To me, it would make sense to do that again, and maybe start airing immediately after so it's fresh in newcomers' heads.
ReplyDeleteI wish!
ReplyDeleteFrom BC's lips to God's ears!
ReplyDeleteI did read the first 6 comic-books before I started watching the show (I read the next 6 afterwards).
ReplyDeleteBut still, I loved the pilot (but at that point, there were not much changes except some (great) scenes, for instance with Morgan (shooting his wife)) . The 5th episode was great too, I thought it had a great tension, great scenes and it promised a great finale (it turns out it was not the case). I'm not a fan of the other 4 episodes.
And of course, I did not like the changes, especially the 2 redneck brothers. These are pointless additions to the mix imo, except if the one who cut his arm off will become a sadistic, mean character the readers of the comic know very well, but he is the complete physical opposite of him and doesn't have the same name though, that's the only reason I can think of why they introduced this stupid character to us on the roof.
I did not like what they did with Shane either, and the love triangle between him, Lori and Rick is just useless (maybe the writers had to add some 'romance' into the story to not make a portion of the audience look away because it would have been too oppressive and dark otherwise).
The great thing is the 1st season is useless, the 2nd season can start with a clean slate. There are no stakes, we have no idea where the characters are going now the CDC has melted down (about that, all the CGI budget went into making the zombies I guess), so the writers can pretty much go back of the track of the comic book now (there already is a perfect story on paper).
This is new info to me, I just read a different interview with Cranston that put production for Breaking Bad starting this month and the season to start airing in March, though I suppose July is a much more realistic time frame. I hope it's March though, as the sooner I can get my Season Four fix the better. As an employee and customer at DISH I recently made the switch to HD and have been re-watching all my old eps of Breaking Bad...HD makes a huge difference!
