Supernatural - Weekly Poll - Favorite Weapon

3 Dec 2010

I took all the nominations and put weapons mentioned at least 4 times into the poll. If your favorite isn't in here, don't worry. Just click other and let us know what you think in the comments section. Since there are so many good choices, feel free to vote for 2 weapons.

Thanks for all your support of this idea. We will be back the first week of winter hiatus with "Favorite Death". Voting ends Friday at 9:00 pm St. Louis (USA) time, which is when the new episode will air here. Happy voting!

  1. Here's the weapon poll as promised. Thanks for all your suggestions. There have been a lot of good weapons over the years!

Don't forget to vote for 2 choices.

Edited to add that voting ends approximately 26 1/2 hours from when this comment was posted.

    EDIT: WOODCHIPPER TRUMPS ALL.

  3. OOOHH and "Sam's Hand of Ipecac" needs to be changed to something more people understand, because I'm not sure everyone in the world understands that the lingo = Sam's demon-blood infused ability to expell and vanquish demons with his mind.

I get the joke and all, but maybe for practical reasoning change it to something else? I mean, you don't HAVE to, but I just thought I'd mention that.

  4. The Colt, of course, and I still think the injection of holy water was awesome too

  5. I voted for Sam's demon vanquishing hand aka Hand of Ipecac - cause they never would have got Famine's ring without it. No ring no cage for Luci and Mike.
And Dean's snark - I seriously believe no other weapon has been used so regularly, or so effectively, to cut villains down to size ;P

  6. The Colt is the best of all!

Then salt because it's so useful against almost everything!

Microwave made me laugh hard... hahahaha!

    Awesome poll, thanks for this!

  7. Maybe slightly unfair to vote, but I went for the Colt, as it's the only one I've really seen thus far :P

  8. The curved swordish thing from episode 1. :P

  9. Curved Swordish thing?! Episode 1?! Maybe I just have Fringe on the brain, but I don't remember that thing. What did it do? Episode 1 was the White Woman? Lady in White? Thing... haha

Wow, Edited from Swordfish to Swordish :P

  10. Salt!

Lol, and the Impala's too funny a choice to deny...
    -votes-

    SHHII-! DEAN'S SNARK! ;A;
How could I have not seen that option? DX
    Man... I'd vote for that one, too if I could. ; 3;

  11. Glad to have you Adam. The Curved Knife/Sword/Who Knows is wickedly cool looking which is why I love it. Unfortunately, the only time we've seen it is when Sam puts it in his bag at the beginning of the pilot and in some promo pictures. They've never actually used it to kill anything. It definitely wins in the Most Neglected Weapon poll though. :-)

  12. No worries - I voted Dean snark for you, but it was hard not to vote for the Impala. She's the only character on any show that has never ticked me off. :-) Gotta love the Impala!

  13. Love Sam's hand...and everything else about him :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hey but what about his hair? No one except me seems to like Sam's long hair this season.......tell me you like his hair?

    ReplyDelete
  15. haha. Most Neglected Weapon. That's next weeks poll :P

I'll have another look at it next time I am on my ipod, think I still have the pilot on there. I'd guess it's done for good if it's not been used in six seasons. Would be a bit weird if Sam pulls it out, then:
Sam: Remember this, from I put it into my bag around the time Jess died?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hmmm.......I think I should have voted Impala instead of Sam's hand.......Luci and Mike would never have gone into the cage without it.......dammit.........how can I possibly have only two choices?
Now I'm gonna be second guessing myself .........never thought it would be this difficult........
Next time I have a brilliant idea just tell me to shut up.........

  17. Demon Killing knife or the name of it on here, Ruby's Knife! Think it's awesome how they use it!

  18. 194 votes so far and how many comments? 19? Aww come on people - tell us why you voted how you did. Please?

  19. Demon blood for the supernatural awesomeness, shotgun for the gritty awesomeness.

Put together, I think those sum up why the show is so great.

  20. Sam's Demon-Vanquishing Hand has been referred to as the Hand of Ipacac actually. Jared liked that name for it at the convention when the fan asking him a question referred to it as that.

That being said, I chose the Impala, for her wonderful versatility as weapon, weapon holding area, and house for the boys. And shotguns, because those boys with shotguns were what brought a lot of in in the first place.

But Hand of Ipacac, Microwave, Wood Chipper and Dean's snark deserve much mention =)

EDIT: Okay so I read the comments after I posted this. I have noticed the Hand of Ipecac being mentioned before me -acknowledges-

  21. The Impala was one of my suggestions. I think of the times it has been there, especially Swan Song. Since were allowed two votes, I voted wood chipper and the Metallicar. I did mention the hand of ipecac. I remember poor Jared and Jensen not even knowing what ipecac was. What sheltered childhoods they had. roflol

  22. It was originally called Sam's Hand of Ipecac in the poll but it was brought to my attention that many people would not know it by this name so I changed it. I agree about the Impala. She's amazing in her versatility. It was hard to narrow down my vote to 2 choices.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I voted for the wood chipper because that was just awesome. It made one of my favorite episodes even more amazing. I also voted for Dean's snark because that was one of the first things that drew me into the series. It has seen me through hard times and lean times, but it has also triumphed over snotty art dealers, asinine angels, legions of the otherworldly, and a demon or two. In short, everything.

However, if I could vote for more I would have chosen the Impala who at times is my favorite character. She has been home to two homeless, practically orphaned kids. She was the prized possession of a teen who had nothing. She has never betrayed any Winchester (try to find anyone or anything else that can say that). She's been refuge, weapon, bait and protector of the Colt. She's been touchstone and altar. She's so much more than a car.

The angel sword would get a vote because it produced the most satisfying death on Supernatural. When Dean looked at a broken Sam and winked right before plunging it through Zachariah's throat, I got goosebumps. Then I cheered. It was the best way to take out a character that I loved to hate - or just hated, depending on the situation.

The microwave was one of the most inventive weapons and I still chuckle whenever I think, "Dean nuked Tinkerbell." I always picture someone putting a Peep in the microwave until it explodes. Fabulously funny!

Shotguns, salt, holy water, and exorcism spells are part of the traditional goodness of Supernatural. I wish they would revisit those more often. Shotguns are the sexiest weapons (and the sniper rifle and the pearl-handled gun), salt is the good lore, while holy water and exorcisms brought in the God element before they ruined God. These are weapons I look back on with fondness. The may not have the exotic cool of the Colt and Ruby's knife, but they are the stand-bys you know you can always count on. They are solid.

While I was okay with the mystical tree branch in 99 Problems, I really loved the Christmas tree branch as stake in A Very Supernatural Christmas. It might be because I love that episode to death. It might be because they pretty much killed them pagan gods with Christmas. Probably though it's because it was another example of the Winchester ability to think on their feet and use what's on hand to get the job done. They are resourceful.

The other ones are great too and have been explained by others better. Plus this post is getting too long as it is. In short there are far too many great weapons to choose only 2. And here I thought I was being generous.

  24. You know it's interesting......some people will always find something to whine about when it comes to SPN - they hate the writing or the plot or a character - but when you ask a simple question like this, it brings out all the stuff everyone loves about SPN.........
Let's do more of this - I love it. :)

I thought you were being generous too - till after I voted ;P

  25. Good point! Consider it changed.

  26. I think the Colt is king. There are only 5 things that it can't kill after all. I think another one that should be up there is when Cas does that thing where he knocks people out with two fingers or Cas in general could be up there because he can get rid of demons too.

What would you call that two finger thing anyway?

  27. I run over demons in Impala while shooting them from the window with the Colt. Awesome duo

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have to admit, I do like the little boy shag from season 1. But I do like this look too. Except is it only me, or is his hair looking really red this season?

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's probably all that demon blood he chugged in Swan Song making it look red :P

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sorry folks but I can't get all that excited about the Colt (please don't shoot me with it)
    - yes it killed YED (yaaay for that) :)
but it let the boys down badly when it came to Luci. :(

Yes I know - things are never that simple in Winchesterland - but if the Colt was so wonderful it should have done the job.

  31. Voted microwave and Sam's demon killing hand.

Microwave - purely for comic releif, and a very well done scene. The ding at the end was awesome!

Hand - Well, with the colt gone they needed something to kill Lilith with. It also killed Alaistair and Famine - pretty noteworthy?

  32. I went with the Impala and the Colt because my real favorite didn't make the list. (Dean's shiny, pearl handled Colt 1911!) What can I say? I'm a girl. I like shiny things. :)

  33. It is a truly beautiful gun. If the poll hadn't been so long already, it would have definitely been on it. I secretly adore that gun as much as the sawed off.

  34. *pouts cause none of hers is on the list*

    Dean's Gun
    Sam's Garotte
Michael's burn the Grace out of Anna/Angel Sword
    Death's Scythe
    Lucifer's fist
