Supernatural - Weekly Poll - Best Gory Death

17 Dec 2010

We are now at over 700 votes in the Best Emotional Death. Voting will continue until tonight for Best Visceral Death and tomorrow night for Best Emotional Death.

Now it's time for Best Gory Death. Let's face it - Supernatural has some of the grossest, goriest deaths around and there are plenty of them. These are the 18 gory deaths as nominated by SpoilerTV viewers. Do you cringe at beheaded vampires? Do spell deaths turn your stomach? Do hell hounds have you fleeing a room? (Might need to call Dean and Sam for that one.) Cast your vote and leave a comment.

Oh and just a reminder, next week's question goes up on Monday night (central USA time) for people to nominate their choices. If you are unhappy with the polls, please make sure you check back on Monday and voice your choice.

  1. This one is the hardest for me simply because there have been so many gory deaths. I loved the wood chipper death, the forked robber image will never leave me. Dean's death by hell hound was not only gory but a key point in the plot and emotional to boot - not just gore for gore's sake. Tinkerbell nuked was the funniest gory death. I'll have to think on this more before casting my vote.

What do you think? What makes a gory death the best - amount of blood, uniqueness of the weapon or death, how much your stomach heaves?

  2. This is a tough one....couldn't we have just chosen our top 5?........uuuummmmmm...........eeny meeny......crap.

    Back soon with a decision.........maybe........

  3. Ok I've narrowed it down to 3.....
    1. Dean ripped to shreds by invisible hellhounds - because.....hell's bells it was DEAN for pete's sake....and those hellhounds sure are vicious little buggers.....
    2. How long does it take to nuke a fairy?....not long at all apparently......DING!
    3. Pureed Okami anyone?.....poor Marcy....but....hahaha.........

Back soon with a decision.......I already said that didn't I? Balls!

  4. I voted for Pedophile drilled to death by dentist. My vote has less to do with gore, and more to do with seeing a pedophile getting killed.

  5. This is a good category! I said the couple eating each other cause I had to fast forward that. My 2nd and 3rd choice are the woman losing her teeth and the razor blades that just makes me feel icky inside.

  6. I have to say I was cheering too. It was another good visceral death for me.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I don't think I've actually seen that whole thing. Far too gross for me to watch.

  8. Death by Buzzsaw in the kids are all right. There's the obvious choices - woodchipper, eating each other to death. One of the reasons I voted the buzzsaw was that I was expecting just an off-screen spurt of blood. Not so much. The reason I didn't vote woodchipper was because I was pretty sure it was going to happen. As for eating each other - not my sort of thing.

Nothing says gore like a buzzsaw through the chest!

  9. Bad Day at Black rock.
I knew it was going to happen. The whole time I was like, no no, they wouldn't do tha---GROSS!

  10. I loved that Rube Goldberg-esque death.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase speak with forked tongue ;P

    ReplyDelete
  12. 'Nothing says gore like a buzzsaw through the chest!'
    Can't argue with that ;P

  13. I should really rewatch this show. I don't remember most of it. Shame it's not on some verified online source.

  14. Pedophiles aside (although I do agree with you there) - I am NOT looking forward to my next visit to the dentist - never been keen on dentists anyway (apologies to all the dentists) - but now I know what those drills are really capable of........

  15. When I first started watching Supernatural (what was life before that?!) I thought it was super gross when Meg slit that guy's throat and collected the blood to talk to her 'master'.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Eeew and I'd forgotten till now about the cop in The Third Man with all the pus-y boils - even in his throat - and the guy in My Bloody Valentine who choked himself shoving twinkies down his throat with a toilet brush......

    ReplyDelete
  17. I stoped reading after the couple that eat each other... this scene has marked me. IT WAS SO GROSS and awesome duh but UH GROSS ahhaah!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Couple eat eachother and Castiel being blasted lol

    ReplyDelete
  19. Okay - I've decided. And it only took me.........hey it only took an hour - that must be some kind of record for me.......
    And the winner is:

    Woodchipper..........
    because woodchipper trumps EVERYTHING........
and even though I was expecting it I was NOT expecting poor Marcy to be WEARING pureed Okami........

    ReplyDelete
  20. I kind of forgot about that one. And then when Dean comes back from the Morgue: "Their stomach's were like, Thanksgiving dinner full" or something like that...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Cas being blown to bits... I mean.. literally.. blown into little tiny chunks of meat suit - well.. really.. shouldn't it just be that Jimmy was? .. Either way... totally burst like aaaa... n explosive pinata. And we got to see it! not like in season 4 where there was just the white light and then a scene change [and in the beginning of s5 a bloody molar was shown] Like.. we saw it .. AS it happened. that seems just about as gory as you can get. xD

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have to get a tooth capped on Tuesday and thinking of this scene just makes it worse. I hope they have those headphones that block out the noise.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Okay this just ain't fair...too many awesome gory deaths to choose from! Damn you Supernatural! lol

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nothing on that show is even remotely close to the couple eating each other. That is the first time SPN has really ever got me to the point I almost changed the channel... Even the fork was a quick thing...

    ReplyDelete
  25. The couple eating each other... I can stomach a lot, but not that. Just...ugh. *gag*

    ReplyDelete
  26. Couple's enjoying Eachother's Taste!! Literally...... well lets just say my stomach did not enjoy it much and leave it at that!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ok...i struggled between COUPLE EATING EACH OTHER and SAM GAROTTING GORDON but stuck with SAM GAROTTING GORDON....I dry heaved/screamed/whooped at the screen...cause i HATE Gordan....and he can't go biting Dean's Neck....Thats my Job :))

I found it disgustingly epic and PROTECIVE SAM for the WIN!!!

I will say The couple eating other made me wanna dry heave too......and remember Guy that owned JAMES DEAN'S car...remember what happened to his face.....YUCK :))

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah total WIN!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I judge it by how repulsed/sick i feel.....But i have to say that the sickest i've felt watching supernatural wasn't a gory death.....

It was the scene with Sam creeping up on the zombie woman in the episode where Bobby gets his zombie wife back.....You just think she's going to attack him.....she does and then GOBS ON HIS FACE......i actually thought i was gonna VOMIT!!!

I was Thinking....WOW....didn't know there could be a Sammy repellant....cause no way do i wanna kiss him after that!!!

    *goes off to vomit*

    ReplyDelete
  30. I voted for couple eating each other, because that right there....flippin' gory as all hell. Even thinking about it gets me all weirded out. lol Someone I live with walked in on the scene and had to physically walk away. All the others are great, but the couples eating each other was just plain wrong and the sounds. EKK! Couldn't stare at couples walking for like weeks, because of that. No joke. lmao!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Couple eat each other (My Bloody Valentine) ewwww this was horrid, still had to watch it :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anybody remember the guy that got chopped in half by the elevator in It's a Terrible Life... The legs kept kicking *gag*... and I love Sam's reaction *I'll get back to you*... Then, "Take the Stairs". hehehehehehehe

But, out of the choices above.... Gordon losing his head and the mouth kept moving a bit... that was just great. and the couple eating each other... with the guy "mostly dead"... He was still chewing hahahahahaha.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bloody Valentine couple for me. Man, that was gross! Difficult choice though, there are just so many disgustingly gory deaths in Supernatural...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah, the James Dean car moment was a really gross one, the guy's face was all smooshed. :(

    ReplyDelete
  35. Waaay too many good choices (or are they bad choices?)

I really hope they destroyed that microwave... imagine cooking food in a microwave filled with invisible gore *eeewwwwww*

I think I'm going to go with Dean being ripped to shreds... the others are spectacularly gory, but, this is Dean were watching get torn up, and it isn't quick... I have to watch through my fingers LOL

    ReplyDelete
  36. I voted for Castiel's explosion, mostly because it was so quick and unexpected and grotesque in that tragic situation.

But my other choices would be:
    2. the wood chipper
    3. the couple eating each other
    4. the dentist
    5. Tinkerbell

Man, gotta love Supernatural for those gore moments, even if you just hate to look at them ;P

  37. How can you not have the being forced to drink cleaning fluid one?! Easily the most unpleasant!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I liked Isaac's death from The Magnificent Seven when he was made to drink the bottle of bleach. I wouldn't call that extremely gory by my standards; but it was cool.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I said Castiel's in Swan Song. When i first saw the episode, it was so unexpected that I, at first, didnt know how to react. Just seeing the blood go all over was so wrong

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dean & hell hounds. I love hell hounds because you can only see what's happening to the victim.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Gross. That's it. I am wiping out every microwave in every hotel room I go to. This thought makes me a bit nauseous.

    ReplyDelete
  42. That was disgusting. I'm surprised no one nominated it on Monday. For a season opener, The Magnificent 7 was gross in parts.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Very true! I just remembered that I couldnt watch that either, it was bleach right? omg so gross every time I think of bleach I think of that scene.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Woodchipper was gross too but at least it was quick. Did feel sorry for Marcy though. After that episode I thought a portable wood chipper would be a good weapon lol.

the worst of all that i have to close my eyes every time i watch it is season 3 christmas episode when that lady pulls sam's finger nail off of him!!! O MY GOD I ALMOST PUKED!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. That episode was epic with all the gore (I don't watch that part either), the violence, and of course the humor. It's one of my all-time favorite episodes!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well I would love to say the woodchipper - seriously, you can't do much better than a woodchipper - I was extremely grossed out by the couple eating each other in My Bloody Valentine, so I have to go with that one. No other death has grossed me out nearly as much. I mean, eww. Just plain nasty.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Have to say that was one cringe-worthy moment.....*shudders*.....and then they were going after Dean's teeth! So relieved they didn't actually go there.......score 2 against going to the dentist.... :(

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love the hellhounds....I know some people find them unscary cause they can't see them, but to me that's exactly what makes them so scary.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I really couldn't handle the dentist-scene..

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm grinning like an idiot right now. You know what's going through my head now? I can imagine all the reactions from people that have never seen this show as they read through this list. I can't help but to laugh at that, lol. We have a film crew that is about as crazy as they come. May they never change.

Btw, nothing tops the cannibalistic lovers. It just screamed Benders.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I was all excited when Castiel exploded because ever since episode 5x01 I wondered when "exploding like a water balloon full of chunky soup" would be like... Now I knew :-) I was just so glad it wasn't Bobby... however when Bobby died and was practically immediately brought back, my trauma from the episode just about disappeared.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Sadly I'm someone who finds them disappointing. Although, I like them when they're attacking people... I just find the usage of them being the demon ace in the hole ("Oh it's just Meg, no biggie. Wait!!! Invisible dogs!") overused as a plot device.

  54. There were alot of good choices but I chose The couple eating each other. I remember watching MBV and thinking that was gross. I considered the robber getting forked. It was gory but actually freaked me out more than anything. Yesterday I watched Fallen Idols and the man that found James Dean's car had his face smashed into the windshield was pretty gory but not on the list.

    ReplyDelete
  55. When Castiel exploded, I opened my mouth very widly and kept it like this for at least a minute lol It was awesome :P poor Jimmy, though...

    ReplyDelete
  56. so many brilliant deaths, it was ahrd to choose!!
in the end i had to go with the couple eating each other because that was just soooooo gross!!!
it also took me completly by surprise which was not something a lot of those options did. i just had no clue that when the episode started that that couple were going to eat each other.
other ones i would have voted for were the police officer exploding into blood, guy being drilled to death by the dentist (i hate the dentist!!) and the guy killed by a fork through his head

    ReplyDelete
  57. i thought that all happened too quickly. cas, then bobby then he moved to dean. i wasn't left ith enough time to feel shocked or sad about anything coz it just kept moving.
then agian, i was crying for the entire 42 minutes so maybe it did have time to affect me

    ReplyDelete
  58. ooh yeah. that episode had abunch of gory deaths. the guy who put his head in the microwave and the guy who shoved a pencil in his neck as well. i tried getting my friend into SPN and that episode was on that night and she went running screaming form the room!!!
    never turned back :(

    ReplyDelete
  59. i wonder what a woodchipper wouldn't kill

    ReplyDelete
  60. box sets!!!
    thats what i do!
and marathons till VERY late at night

    ReplyDelete
  61. i love watching the gory stuff, its awesome! especially trying to think of how they actually did it.
i loved that scene where they ate each other for no other reason other than its a great scene to refrence when talking to people who've never watched it.
"they did this one episode where tow people ate each other to death!!!"
    awesome!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. So. Let me get this right.........Some people are actually put off by the gore?
    I'm shocked ! Shocked I say!
Gore is fun! Especiallly SPN gore! <3

    ReplyDelete
  63. lol, yeah
most people i know can't handle it so thats why they don't watch it.
personally, i love it. the only time i've ever had to shut my eyes during SPN is last episode when the doc gave dean an injection. i hate needles!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think the "Death By Lift" in It's A Terrible Life, 4.17 is the most gruesome. It was the most predictable because you know that in TVland when a character takes that much time to get out of a stuck lift and THEN returns to that precarious and dangerous position they are Red Shirt material.
