  1. I guess there's a Blazing Saddles reference heading our way!!!
Awesome title! As long as they don't actually do the French Mistake, i'm all for it, and even if they do it, i won't care because it'll be HILARIOUS!!

  8. Thanks to Claudia : "When an otherwise straight male is persuaded to, or on a whim in the heat of the moment, engages in a homosexual act of which he later regrets and is ashamed.
Alluded to in the musical number of the same name in Mel Brooks' film "Blazing Saddles"."

alright writers... HOW can I NOT think of Castiel and Dean SERIOUSLY! SERIOUSLY! HA damn it

    ReplyDelete
  9. How can you think about that!
I don't even want to know what goes on in that head of yours :P
    Just kidding ,mate!
I really hope this does not involve Deanchester and Cas, that'll be jumping the dolphin (gay shark lol)

  10. I'm grinning like an idiot because I can't wait to find out to who the french mistake will refer to. ;D Castiel and Dean interesting theory...I like!

    ReplyDelete
  11. "mate" I love you :DDDD AW

*cough* LOL gay shark. Yeah I want to... but I dont at the same time... It would just pissed to many fans off lol.

    ReplyDelete
  12. :DDDD And to any one that says "EW GROSS" well think about DEAN AND SAM yeah I said it.. so suck it up lol Destiel is way less traumatising hehehehe

    ReplyDelete
  13. ....I don't find Dean and Sam gross....;D I'm an anime/manga fan and I love BL stuff, so Wincest or Destiel is not a biggy for me. I found Castiel/Meg making out gross but I don't think I would mind any gay pairings on Supernatural. Castiel/Balthazar would be interesting...

    ReplyDelete
  14. EHHEHE I'm just saying its less weird cas and dean then dean and sam. IMO.
Cas and any one else is a NO NO NO for me... I LOVE Destiel way to much ehhehe. and yeah Meg and cas...

Sue me I love gay couple hehehe, my fav on every show :DDD

  15. Too bad Brady had to die. Brady/Crowely would have been awesome! Lovers in League against Satan..

  16. Ok, when you've been in the fandom for the entire run of the series, you get used to the Wincest and Destiel stuff, that's fine. Them taking the piss out of it on the show is good too.... but please dear god don't make it Canon xD It would be the downfall of the show (In no way do I mean having a gay character would be, I mean, all of a sudden going "And here is a gay scene between Cas and Dean" or something would be COMPLETELY jumping the shark in a bad way.)

But I have faith in the writers, the name could change anyway. It's probably them just trying to mess with us. xD

    ReplyDelete
  17. OMG that just CAN'T BE
maybe it won't be either Dean or Sam or even Cas, maybe it will be somebody else like a new case or something *i hope so*

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh Jesus. O.o
I really hope the title is a joke...that'd please the demented Wincest/Destiel fans WAY too much. Sammy likes the demon chicks and Dean likes the bar girls...hopefully their tastes don't sway too far in this episode...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh wow...a monster or something that causes changes in sexual orientation?
That's unsettling, and totally something SPN writers would do.

    ReplyDelete
  20. "The French Mistake", God, that could mean a lot of things.... I hope that means "a girl will appears in Dean's life". Just to make him forget Lisa cause I really don't like her.
And another thing, would be awesome to see Dean and Sam away from US!!!! I mean, put them in other situations in other countries. xD

    ReplyDelete
  21. Could be. It's very plausible that the reference could be about the case and has nothing to do with the main characters. You know like in 'Sex and Violence' when the siren influenced the guys to kill, maybe it's some demon/creature that things it's funny to make straight guys make a 'french mistake'.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, you're so polite, just because you don't like something, to call other fans demented! Very nice!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Uhhh. Hey, no one is attacking you for your pairing choice so why are you attacking people who like Wincest ? I'm a little offended by this cause no one said anything about Destiel but you jump right on "Ew Sam and Dean".

    ReplyDelete
  24. I was just joking around. :P And I read Sam and Dean :DDD Don't worry I'm not judging any one. I think it's gross cause they are brothers but I do enjoy it... I'm weird i know. Sorry you took that the wrong way.

    ReplyDelete
  25. :DDD I'M DEMENTED hahaha! You have NO idea how much I'm happy with that titled :D....

But I really dont think they will go there :P. Maybe they go in gay town hehheeh, and its magic. Any way, writers need to be careful there are some offensive gay jokes sometimes in there. :S

    ReplyDelete
  26. I try. ;)
Honestly, by now, Claudia, don't you realize how brazenly opinionated I am?

I guess I should elaborate on my "demented" adjective: It's demented because it takes an important aspect of Supernatural (the brotherly love in case of Wincest) and turns it into a perceived sexual desire that would negate all the ground the show has covered throughout the series. Same goes for Destiel, to a slightly lesser extent, only because it's less established. Obviously the show pokes at those fans sometimes and throw them a bone as a joke, but honestly, if you were to actually want that as part of the storyline or something, you'd be ruining the whole series...

I don't actually have issues with wincest 'shippers as long as it's just for the individual's...um...pleasure or entertainment, but do you see what I mean now?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lisa FTW...
And I wonder if there's another way to interpret The French Mistake...I doubt it, but I guess we will see.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Why does it automatically have to referenced to Dean and Castiel or Sam and Dean? I mean, Sam and Dean was already disgusted by the whole Wincest thing in Monster at the End of this Book. It's funny to watch people jump to all these conclusions before they even get an episode synopsis, and I doubt very much that the writers are stupid enough to put incest on the show. It may have something to do with a monster or some kind spell or something causing straight people to engage in homosexual acts or it could have an entirely different meaning and the title is just the title to throw people off.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I totally watched Sex & Violence yesterday, and it was the first thing I thought about when reading this post. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. If you open your mind and think about it, there are other ways to interpret this. It doesn't have to entail the exact meaning. Such as, the monsters are acting crazy all over the world, what if the boys have to travel to France? Or perhaps there is a french monster they're dealing with. Maybe even a french human being. People with closed minds and slash fans are the ones who only going to look at this as automatically being something homosexual between Dean and Castiel or *shudders* Sam and Dean. x___x

    ReplyDelete
  31. Everyone is trying to find a hidden message in the title.... You could just take it at face value and it could be a French guy who made a mistake!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  32. I believe that everyone (at least in their right mind) smells a trick regarding the title, as it very well could be a French Man making a mistake,(Which would be hilarious) but honestly, if you don't expect the whole Wincest/Destiel concept to come up after thinking about the implications of "the french mistake" then you're just kidding yourself...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well if it turns out to be in some sort of homosexual relation, then that's different and yeah, they might bring up the whole Wincest/Destiel as a joke like they did with Dean back in Point of No Return to Cas or the joke they made during Monster at the End of this Book by freaking the boys out with slash fics, but I can't see them going any further than that. Or like I said, it may not even be in regards to ANY of that in this title, or perhaps it's a monster screwing with the straight folk and making them have homosexual tendencies or it could even be something as simple as a french person screwing something up. I mean who knows.

    ReplyDelete
  34. There are also two other definitions I just saw on supernatural.tv forums.

1/ 1. the french mistake is basicly the biggest mistake ever and now that country sucks. The mistake would be Napoleon a good strategist but also f***ing retarded for sending 400,000 troops to russia to freeze their asses of while France was left unprotected.
Napoleon: I've done pretty well so why not send 400,000 people to Russia anyways I'm doing pretty good right now so nothing could go wrong. In the future this decision will be called the french mistake.

or maybe this from a Mel Brooks film called The French Mistake

2/ The film ends with an absurd brawl between the good guys and the bad guys. The film parodies itself when the camera pulls back to show that the film is being shot on a present-day Hollywood set in the middle of Los Angeles. In an adjoining soundstage on the lot, a pseudo-Busby Berkeley musical number ("The French Mistake") with an all-gay cast of men in black tuxedos and top hats is being directed by an effeminate choreographer named Buddy Bizarre

Why does it automatically have to be referred to as anything homosexual? I just don't understand how people's minds work I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  35. More recently, Sammy likes the pretty hippie chicks too. ;D

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh my goodness. Just read the definition online and... wow. This season is so full of crack and I love it! I don't ship Dean/Castiel romantically but it would be funny if the title were referring to the two of them.

Sounds like an interesting and hilarious episode!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. YES exactly that's what i mean cos they can't do this to a main character or even the guys can't do that willingly

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can just see Sera, Robert et al, sitting in their offices and peeing themselves laughing at all the speculation. This is what they do folks ......this is how they get their kicks......messing with our heads.....bas***ds.....

Obviously you guys have had some time to discuss the possibilities this title presents.....
I wonder if it could be simply a matter of Dean getting (metaphorically) screwed by something Cas has done ......those 'regrettable things' from back in The Third Man maybe......

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think the slash fans are already expecting too much. "Caged Heat" wasn't actually an homage to women's prison films, it' was just a play on words. Don't expect anything different from "The French Mistake."

    ReplyDelete
  40. One of the (many) things I love about SPN is the willingness to go to places no other show would .....BUT.... (and I'm sorry if this upsets anyone) I for one cannot get remotely excited about the possibility of a Dean/Cas (or any other slash) hook up.

    Joking about it - yes
Giving a nod to it (as in some of the references in earlier episodes) - yes
But absolutely no to anything more explicit.
As Wilson said earlier: 'that would negate all the ground the show has covered throughout the series.'

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks once again Bruce - you just said what I was trying to say - only in way fewer words (and probably less annoying too)

    ReplyDelete
  42. It wasn't annoying and I, for one, agree with your post.

    ReplyDelete
  43. As much as I love fanfic, I don't think it would be good for the show to actually have Wincest or Destiel in it. I mean, Wincest is waaaay out of question (it is incest after all), and Destiel would suggest that Dean has secretly been bisexual all this time. It's just not going to happen.

But the writers sure love to fuck with our heads. xD

    ReplyDelete
  44. Just my opinion, but I think they are both (Destiel and Wincest) equally disturbing. They're family. It's squicky.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I agree. It would be completely out-of-character and that would ruin the show. If they started with one of the brothers being gay that's a different story but nothing has pointed in that direction. For me, the only thing I can think of that would make me stop watching the show would be making Winchester incest canon. Incest is not something I can look at as entertainment no matter how they spin it.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I like the first one because it implies action and leaves me wondering who made such a big mistake and what the consequences will be.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh come on they share a profound bound or what ever heheheh! What can I say, after 10-15 fanfiction you get over it :DDD My friends think I'm crazy :P knew I shouldnt have told them about my destielmania HEHHEE *cough*

    ReplyDelete
  48. Honestly, the first thing I thought of was a spy caper like the French Connection. I sincerely doubt the show would ever go where only fan fiction dares to tread. Come on people, this is still a horror show, not 90210.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sounds like more fanfiction territory which is all this season has really been doing. I mean first Sam and Dean taking care of a baby, then Dean being turned into a vampire, and fairies and dragons, then the tv guide announcement about the meta reversal episode and now an episode with this kind of title. If this season hadn't already been so full of fanfiction cliches I would have been more inclined to think that the title is going to turn out to be some sort of joke or misleading fans. But with all the cliches this season I wouldn't put it past Sera and co. to throw in something like sex pollen or a monster that makes people gay and have it backfire on our boys just for the delight of fans. It doesn't turn the pairing canon and the guys will probably be highly disgusted by any "mistakes" made while under whatever kind of influence. Even as a Wincest and Destiel fan I wouldn't see the show ever actually showing the guys doing something even remotely sexual together (if we're just a little lucky there might be a kiss with a follow up joke akin to Bobby/Crowley). But I can definitely see the show, especially in the hands of Mrs. Gamble making a remark or allusion to the boys doing something they're definitely going to regret, even when it might have been out of their control.

Regardless, for now all we can do is toss around theories and speculate. With how revealing episode titles have been this season to the plot of the episodes I do think some serious consideration needs to be taken with a title like "The French Mistake"

    ReplyDelete
  50. I wonder if it could refer to the regrettable things Cas said he's done? oAo;;

    ReplyDelete
  51. The supernatural French Mistake is about sam and dean going to an alternate universe were they find out that they are 2 actors playing brothers in a show called Supernatural. We can imagine what is going to happen when sam finds out that the actor married Genevieve Cortes Padalecki (Ruby). So is nothing about them being gay.
