SpoilerTV Visitors - Share Your Work in Film & TV
15 Dec 2010
SpoilerTV ArticleHey Guys,
Seeing as it's a bit quiet over the few weeks of the Christmas Holidays, I though it would be quite cool to see if any regular visitors or anyone else out there has actually done any work on any TV or Film in any capicity, (professional or for fun) in front of cameras or behind it that they fancy showing off or are man enough to show to people. Getting involved in Television or Movies, regardless of quality or skill is a huge amount of fun, and it's lways great to push the boundaries and see what you can do. 'Monsters', which I watched yesterday on the way back from America was a great little movie made for 15,000 dollars and it's beautifully done.
I am owning up to being in a Student film a few years ago, which you can see below, and we unfortunately had to shot an awful lot of it in about two days as either the director or the cameraman (I don't think I'll ever know) lost our footage, so it was very rushed and we had to ditch large bits of the script, which led to what you can now watch:
(The funniest thing about the movie to me is that I was told that the 'War' Scene would be incredibly realistic as we had someone who was really good at the effects.)
If you have anything that's better, worse or plain stupid that you would like to show off then post below and I'll check back and stick it in the main post when I get the chance. Whatever you have made, acted in, shot, photographed that's TV or Film related then let me know so we can share and laugh or admire. I'm looking forward to seeing what any of you have got up to.
Obviously, we don't want any insulting, as even though I don't mind my acting being insulted, It's not my movie and I don't want to upset the friends I helped make it with.
It was a lot of fun and if he asked again I would do it in a second :P

I'm a screenwriter.
ReplyDeleteI've never had anything produced but I have had some interest, from independant filmmakers, to established directors. I also had a TV pilot advance to the top ten of about 3000 in an international screenwriting contest.
But that's about it.
That's cool. I just did an 8 week Screen-writing course at the NYFA and so I have a completed script too as of last month.
ReplyDeleteI loved it.
Sounds like you've done some good stuff, top ten is very impressive! :)
I think I'm much better at writing than acting, this movie did nothing to disprove that, hahah. :P
I'm a screenwriter (and film analyst and communication scientist) by study, but due to circumstances I haven't been able to do much with that. I did get classes with very interesting people, such as double Golden Palm winner Luc Dardenne, so I'll always be thankful for that.
ReplyDeleteI also did an internship in a big film production company (on Belgian scale), for which I spent three weeks on the filming of a pilot - that's incredibly enriching, because you realise how not glamorous all this work is, and I've never loved a job more in my life. I ended up doing summer work there too.
Currently I work as a translator for a film fund.

wow that so cool .... all the best for ur career ;D
ReplyDeleteI've been involved with animation production, in Canada, for 15 years. Whenever I get the chance, I dabble in stopmotion. I was already into drawing and painting, but never pursued it professionally. Working in the field has inspired me to play around with different ideas. I was planning to making something while I am between contracts. The feedback I get from my peers has kept me interested in what I do.
ReplyDeleteAwesome video!! Your acting isn't bad either :P And yes, I have done student films before for school projects. One where I acted like a moody then hyper person for a chocolate ad and another as a news reporter :P I know that isn't exactly amazing or anything but me and my friends had some great fun planning and filming it :)
ReplyDeleteI'm just starting out not having done anything film related education wise (apart from script supervising courses recently) but having had an interest in how films and television shows are made since we got a tv at home for the first time when I was about 16. I eventually want to be a script supervisor and have done it twice so far on a short and an indie. Nothing to show for it really though as I haven't seen either of the finished pieces even though they are complete (I was travelling). I've shadowed script supervisors on set and it's always been fun. I'm currently doing/looking for PA work and unpaid script supervising, if anyone in Vancouver needs one of either let me know! When ever I've been on set I always start wondering why anyone would ever want a job outside the film industry, to me other jobs seem dull! Even with the long hours, cold and lack of sleep I am always happy to be on set and love it even if I am just watching the camera truck for 15 hours.
ReplyDeleteWow that's awesome. It's a lot of fun writing a screenplay! Good luck with all that stuff! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat does translating for a film fund consist of?
Ahhh, awesome. You have an animations online that we could see! It sounds exciting :)
ReplyDeleteHaha. Thanks for the kind words :P I've done better, it was the only time I've really acted on camera barring a couple of stupid skits I did with some friends, I've done stage stuff mainly before that.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about having loads of fun which is the main thing
Wow. How'd you get into that? Sounds awesome. What does a Script Supervisor do?
ReplyDeleteI'm currently studying television production in the UK and i'm loving it!
ReplyDeleteI went to NYFA for a 3 week filmmaking course 2 summers ago n that was just amazing! i dont mind getting one of my shorts on here but not sure how i'll be able to do that as they are not really on youtube or anything. And Adam, one thing i learned just from this first semester at uni is that you can never rely on anyone no matter who they are.. u just have to double check that everyone knows what they r doing n to make sure they do it!
i see there are a lot of screenwriters who have commented. I'm not a really strong screenwriter so it's hard for me to come u with projects and shorts to do, so if anyone is interested in helping or giving me a few tips on screenwriting, that would be greatly appreciated! :D
Nothing yet. I hope to have something soon.
ReplyDeleteI was an extra in my pre-teen years in two films, receiving a total of two seconds of screen time. I have a few completed screenplays, two of which have received varying levels of interest. A film student is shooting a short film now based on something that I wrote. It started as a relaxation technique and has grown into a passion. Hopefully the right circumstance will arise and I will be able to see something that I put on paper, after I improve a bit.
