Right, here we are for the first day of Voting. Each day we will be posting polls from 3 Categories in our Annual SpoilerTV Awards. The polls will run Monday through to Friday and then over the weekend. Next Monday the polls will be closed at 9am GMT and winners and runners up announced shortly after.
The poll results will be hidden but we will be dropping hints in the comments about who the top runners currently are.
So lets get started. Vote and sound off in the comments who you voted for and why. And let us know your predictions for the Top 3 in each category.
Today's 3 Categories are
1) Best New Show of 2010
2) Best Returning Show of 2010
3) Best Lead Actor in a Drama

In Today's Categories I went with
ReplyDeleteRubicon, Lost and Arliss Howard (Rubicon)
I voted for Supernatural, and Jared Padalecki (great work as Sam, Lucifer Sam, and Soulless Sam)
ReplyDeleteI went with: Justified, Fringe and Michael C. Hall
ReplyDeleteI went with Boardwalk Empire, Fringe, and John Noble.
ReplyDeleteI voted for The Walking Dead, Fringe and John Noble. No one comes close to the awesomeness of John Noble.......and nothing can match the creativity and brilliance of Fringe
ReplyDeletei went with
ReplyDeleteThe Defenders,Criminal Minds and ❤❤ Adam Rodriguez ❤❤
Walking Dead, Supernatural and Jared Padalecki for me.
ReplyDeleteRaising Hope is the funniest show I've seen recently and my favorite new show. Supernatural is my favorite returning show in part because of Jensen Ackles, whom I think is very talented.
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead, Fringe and John Noble :)
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead, Lost, Bryan Cranston
ReplyDeleteI Voted 4 Supernatural & Jensen Ackles
ReplyDeleteLost Girl , Being Erica and Michael Riley though i was tempted to vote for Vampire Diaries and Walking Dead too
ReplyDeleteI voted for Raising Hope (b/c it's the only new show i watch), Fringe, and John Noble ( b/c he is awesome on such a great show).
ReplyDeleteWent for Terriers, Dexter and Donal Logue. Terriers was a big fave for me. Was split between Terriers and Rubicon for most of those categories.
ReplyDeleteWe now have over 250 votes in each category. Here are the 5 top runners so far in each category. The names are in no particular order, they are just in the top 5 currently
ReplyDeleteBest Lead Actor in a Drama
Jared Padalecki (Supernatural)
John Noble - (Fringe)
Matthew Fox (Lost)
Jensen Ackles (Supernatural)
Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries)
Best Returning Show of 2010
The Vampire Diaries
Fringe
LOST
Supernatural
Smallville
Best New Show of 2010
Hawaii Five-0
The Walking Dead
Nikita
Raising Hope
Pretty Little Liars
Couldn't agree with you more Elizabeth Madsen! Supernaturals has been amazing thus far and Sam's portrayal of three distinct characters has been awesome! Truly look forward to having good ole Sam back for the remainder of season 6 hopefully. Loved the mid-season finale and look with great anticipation for more come Jan 28...
ReplyDeleteRaising Hope, In Treatment, Eric Stoltz (Caprica)
ReplyDeleteI voted Nikita, LOST, and Matthew Fox XD
ReplyDeleteJust like me!
ReplyDeleteRubicon, Fringe, Michael C Hall.
ReplyDeleteRRRUUUUBBBBIIIICCCCCCOOOOOOONNNNNNNNN
Boardwalk Empire, LOST and Terry O'Quinn.
ReplyDeleteFor me:
ReplyDeleteWalking Dead
Lost
Michael C. Hall
So how will this work, you take the top 5 of each and we narrow it down from there?
Hellcats, The vampire diaries, Ian Somerhalder <3
ReplyDeleteBest new show: Terriers
ReplyDeleteBest returning show: LOST (Loved LOST, but I can't believe Mad Men wasn't on the list!)
Best lead actor in a drama: Jon Hamm
The Walking Dead, Supernatural, Jared Padalecki
ReplyDeleteMy votes go to The Walking Dead, Glee (no chances for win, I know, but it's truly very very cool show) and Jensen Ackles.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Walking Dead will win first poll.
Supernatural, Smallville, Fringe, LOST and Vampire Diaries are favourites in the second poll, and one of actors from these shows will be winner in the 3rd poll.
I went with Hawaii 5-0, Fringe and John Noble
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead / Criminal Minds / John Noble
ReplyDeleteNo discussion.
I went with : Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries and Ian Somerhalder =)
ReplyDeleteFringe and John Nobel
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead - The Vampire Diaries - Ian Somerhalder
ReplyDeleteRubican, Dexter and Michael C. Hall.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I see the results after I've voted???
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead / LOST / Terry O'Quinn
ReplyDeleteThough Michael Emerson is such a great actor but I assumed he wasn't a lead actor there, and besides Terry O'Quinn had the entire 6 seasons to display his outstanding qualities.
Broadway Empire, The Good Wife and Ed Westwick
ReplyDeleteThe Event, FRINGE and John Noble, of course
ReplyDeleteWalking dead, Supernatural and Jared Padalecki. I agree with Elizabeth anyone who essentailly plays 3 different characters and plays them incredably well deserves the award. :)
ReplyDeleteAlright that's a cool system, looking forward to what everyone thinks of the year 2010 of television. Personally I found it one of the best years in recent memory.
ReplyDeleteAfter 500+ votes in the various polls the following are showing strongly in various categories
ReplyDeleteFringe, Vampire Diaries, Lost, Walking Dead, Hawaii Five-0 and Nikita
My voting exactly. xD
ReplyDeleteI wish there was Criminal Minds!
ReplyDeleteJensen Ackles and Supernatural. I would have voted for Jared but I just love Jensen a tad too much.
ReplyDeleteThe Big C, Dexter and Michael C. Hall for me.
ReplyDeleteFringe and John Noble.
ReplyDeleteBut that last one was harsh...
John Noble X Joshua Jackson X Lance Reddick X Simon Baker X David Boreanaz :@
The Walking Dead / Fringe / John Noble
ReplyDeletesupernatural n jensen :)
ReplyDeleteI went with the Event, Greys Anatomy & Patrick Dempsey
ReplyDeleteSince "Castle" is not included in the list of The Best Returning Show of 2010, I'm not voting in this category.
ReplyDeleteSame here!! :)
ReplyDeleteAlthough Michael C. Hall (Dexter) will be getting my votes from now on. He keeps getting better and better.. ..at least until O'Quinn and Emerson are on-screen again (then we'll see).
1.-
ReplyDelete2. lost
3. michael emerson
I went with The Walking Dead, Lost , and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad).
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead may not just be the best new show... it may be the best show on TV PERIOD! Very tough to not put LOST in the best returning show. Cranston is AMAZING in every action or inaction he takes on Breaking Bad.
I could have voted for all 3 of those choices easily. Loved Rubicon, but just felt something was missing. I never put my finger on it. Arliss was very good in Rubicon (could express powerful thoughts with very subtle looks and never over did any scene he had to be more "on")...but Cranston often leaves me in awe of how good he is after I watch a scene or an episode.
ReplyDeleteIt disturbs me to no end that a urinal turd and I came to the same list. It can't be a good thing can it?
ReplyDeleteI loved Terriers too! IT was a three horse race in that category for me and Terriers and Rubicon were just not quite as polished as The Walking Dead. All that said... I think I could picture myself watching either Rubicon or Terriers for years and enjoying them... assuming the had years on TV. *grumbles under breath at TV viewers*
ReplyDeleteMaybe the poll should have "favorite" instead of "best" like they do on reality TV shows? Seems like many are voting for shows or actors that are not "best" by any standard, but easily fan favorites. Critic in me is irked every time I see polls or TV shows with results like this. LOL. Oh well... personal tastes vary and your mileage may vary...
ReplyDeleteGabriel Byrne is incredible on In Treatment too!
ReplyDeleteI think there are more of us than we imagine... we just do not shout it as stronger as he did! LOL
ReplyDeleteI think the cable series saved it from being one of the worst NEW seasons of TV ever. If not for Rubicon, Terriers, Justified, The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, The Glades and The Big C.... it was rather lackluster on major networks for new series. Overall though with the cable series added in it was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteDarq, regarding this, it strikes me that any one person cannot possibly be well acquainted with every offering in every category. I have about 6 "won't miss" shows that I watch regularly, about 10 others that I have at least peeked at, and a lot of shows/actors I've never seen or even heard of. To top it off, I don't have a subscription to premium channels so that shuts out a few shows. (Good thing I'm not an Emmy voter! LOL).
ReplyDeleteVoted for The Walking Dead, Matthew Fox, and The Good Wife.
ReplyDeleteThere should be a "best new show" and a "best guilty pleasure" show. I recognize that some shows are superior to others in quality etc, but nevertheless some other shows, while not being "best", aren't to be missed because they're so delightful etc. Can SpoilerTV keep that in mind for next year please?
ReplyDeleteI agree completely. Are you sure others can separate the two?
ReplyDeleteOh no doubt about it! Many people are not watching some of the best shows on TV, due to disliking them, never being interested in them to begin watching, being busy on that given night and not having a DVR, or simply not having cable or premium cable channels. I respect the last group most because if they do not have cable and do not watch the premium shows.... well, it means they are not downloading them like so many online. Not that I know anyone on here that would ever download a show!!
ReplyDeleteAfter a 1000+ votes we have a runaway leader in the Best Lead Actor in a Drama and Best Returning Show of 2010 categories. 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Best Returning Show of 2010 are very close currently and we have a 2 horse race for the Best New Show of 2010
ReplyDeleteSome of the categories are messed up. Why is there no option for NCIS LA in either category and why is Glee returning if Lost is still listed. Confused
ReplyDeleteI went with The Event,Lost, and Matthew Fox
ReplyDeleteHmmm... might it be Jensen Ackles and Supernatural in the lead? LOL. Maybe LOST but I doubt I would be surprised a little. Best new show 2 dog race has to be The Walking dead.. but which other.... I cannot guess the second honestly. Ok if I have to I will say Raising Hope, because I cannot stand it and many if not most people on here have different taste than I do in TV shows. :)
ReplyDeleteI voted for Jensen Ackles. Speaking of actors who can do different personalities, Jensen's done them all and even on Supernatural he's been a shapeshifter, a vampire, futureDean, notDean and double Dean. None of these characters were even similar to the greatest, Dean Winchester. Man, the man has more personalities than Sybil. Jensen is fantastic and definitely deserves an award for being so versatile and just plain awesome.
ReplyDeleteAt least you picked the stronger of the two lead actors by far!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLost. Only LOST!!!
ReplyDeleteSince Sherlock didn't get nominated *sigh* I went with Walking Dead, Jensen Ackles and Supernatural
ReplyDeleteHellcats, supernatural, jared padalecki! Great actor!!
ReplyDeleteWalking Dead, Doctor Who (though it was hard to passover Supernatural), and Jensen Ackles - loving the emotional turmoil overload he's portraying this year.
ReplyDeleteI had a tough time for the New Show poll, but then I chose Fringe and Jensen Ackles. I think Ackles has been doing some fantastic work this season, very subtle and understated in his portrayal.
ReplyDeleteWell, I did ask Santa for an upgrade to premium, so we'll see what happens on Christmas:-).
ReplyDeleteThe Defenders
ReplyDeleteFringe
Matt Smith
THE EVENT is totally the best! so FRINGE and in the 3rd category i was so confused... chose a Fringe actor, simple vote...
ReplyDeleteMy best returning show, of course SPN, and best lead actor, Jared, Sammifer and no-soul Sam is amazing... sorry for Jensen because I love him too but his best performance was in 2009 not 2010 :)
ReplyDeleteFringe and John Noble of course. Didn't vote in the first category 'cause I don't watch any of them.
ReplyDeleteI voted the same first two, but while I usually prefer Jensen, Jared has had a more demanding role this season and is doing remarkably at it so I voted for him.
ReplyDeleteFor the Best Actor i kept going back and forth from the Supernatural boys, Terry O'Quinn, Michael C. Hall, and finally decided on Kyle Chandler because you know what? That man deserves to win something after Friday Night Lights being seriously one of the best show on TV for five years now.
ReplyDeleteAlso, some of us live in countries other than America. Much as I like to have a deciding vote in what gets bought for TV here, I don't. I didn't nominate my favourite actors, I nominated the ones I actually thought acted the best out of the ones I'd had the opportunities to watch.
ReplyDeleteI like your style :)
ReplyDeleteSupernatural always does good with the polls! (Which is not a bad thing). I'm really surprised at the positivity for Hawaii Five-O, I was expecting people to not like it, and it kinda went and did the opposite. Especially because I actually really like Pretty Little Liars (guilty pleasure!). :) <3
ReplyDeleteI voted for Lost Girl, Supernatural ( without hesitation ;P ) and Jensen Ackles! There are a few actors I really like too, but in a poll with Jensen in it, they don`t stand a chance!
ReplyDeleteI'm agree because Jensen is an awesome character but I think Jared have the same good things that you said about Jensen too:
ReplyDeleteNo-soul-Sam
Sam-Lucifer (he play doble Sam in Swan Song in front of the mirror and if we back to 1 season, in Bloody Mary too)
Possesed by demons
Adicted to demon Blood
As crazy in Sam Interrupted (Jensen too)
Like an idiot in Swapt Meat jejejejeje
The sweet-badass little brother
I think the reason why people love more Jensen/Dean is because mostly fans are too emotional and don't like evil sides like Sam side, because Dean is always "the poor guy in the story" jajaja sorry but I enjoy the dark side of the good characters :) lol
It was a hard decision for the first one. In the end I chose the Big C because I think it deserves more recognition. However, Raising Hope, Rizzoli & Isles as well as The Walking Dead have all been amazing.
ReplyDeleteFRINGE and John Noble <3
Voted for Fringe. Duh.
ReplyDeleteYAYAAAYYY FRINGE :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like in Spoilertv people love the Sci-Fi show's jejeje...Love to see both, Jensen and Jared in that top 5....SPN is always in the race, yeah can lose, but is not easy for the others never jajajaja
ReplyDeleteI voted for Hawaii Five-0 and - of course - LOST and Michael Emerson.
ReplyDeleteNo Ordinary Family, Supernatural & Jensen Ackles.
ReplyDeleteI went with:
ReplyDeleteNo Ordinary Family
Smallville
Tom Welling
Does it just seem to me or does nobody here watch Breaking Bad? Well, to fans of the great shows like Dexter, Supernatural, Fringe... watch it, you won't be dissapointed. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy voted were:
Dexter and Bryan Cranston. I didn't vote for new shows, since I don't like any of them.
Hawaii 5-0, Lost and Jensen Ackles. Hawaii 5-0 because I love a good "buddy cop show" and it's just enjoyable to watch.
ReplyDeleteLost because I thought the final season managed despite a few bumps to be compelling and the finale powerful. I can think of almost nothing that has touched me as much as the part from where Jack and Kate killed FauxLocke to where Jack died(with Vincent by his side).
Jensen Ackles because considering how the writing has been so incredibly inconsistent for his character on Supernatural this season(where Dean appears to have no reason for even being around except that they have to keep the character because he's one of the 2 leads) he's still managed to portray the consistency the writers won't write, with a subtlety and depth most actors would kill to have. Now that is the sign of a great actor, he doesn't just shine when he has the writing behind him, he also shines when the writers have pretty much left his character in free fall.
SUPERNATURAL ALL THE WAY!
ReplyDeleteNikita. Chuck. Michael Weatherly - NCIS!
ReplyDeleteYay! :D
I forgot about Justified in the nominating phase, but they received my vote for best new show. The other votes, well none of them will matter. It looks as though its going to be another Supernatural contest. Matthew Fox deserves some type of an award, and he will get my vote every time for best actor for this past season
ReplyDeleteITA about Fox, it was his season and he got an Emmy nomination for it. But once again SPN fans will ruin this poll because they're too obsessed to see that their fan favorites are not exactly the best actors around.
ReplyDeleteVoted Lost, Matthew Fox and TWD.
Voted for Terriers, LOST (although I regret not typing in Breaking Bad in the initial nomination post, as it seems no one else did either), and Jon Hamm. I meant to vote for Donal Logue though...Just skimmed the list and missed his name assuming he wasn't on there, even though I nominated him just days ago, haha. Crap.
ReplyDeleteLost and Supernatural are the two shows i definitely vote for. I for one am glad that Sam is getting his soul back. Souless-Sam was starting to creep me out.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's a sign ;D
ReplyDeleteSo no new show for you?
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead, Dexter and Michael C.Hall
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to actually come to something like this without seeing somebody insulting the Supernatural fans.
ReplyDeleteFor the second 2 I went with Dexter and Joshua Jackson. Dexter really blew me away this season... but I had to vote for Fringe in something, and I love Peter, so... ^^
ReplyDeleteSorry! I went directly to vote and didn't read it! He,he!
ReplyDeleteI went with:
ReplyDelete-
Dexter
Michael C. Hall
Well, everybody defines 'Best' differently. And some emmy choices seem to be more motivated by boredom and picking the same thing every year than by watching all the nominated shows. So critics play the favorite games just as often as fans.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a fan of any of the new shows. I voted Supernatural and Jared Padalecki.
ReplyDeleteThat's really an interesting choice.
ReplyDeleteFringe, John Noble... Don't care about the new shows because I didn't watch any.
ReplyDeleteThe Event (I don't watch many new series and I am disappointed of TWD), Fringe (AWESOME season 3), Terry O'Quinn (i don't have to explain, really)
ReplyDeleteThe real bad thing is to choice between Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. MY GOD HELP ME.
ReplyDelete"I think the reason why people love more Jensen/Dean is because mostly fans are too emotional and don't like evil sides like Sam side, because Dean is always "the poor guy in the story" jajaja sorry but I enjoy the dark side of the good characters :) lol"
ReplyDeleteSorry, Andrea, but you'd be wrong in my case. I voted for Jensen because I believe he has done a fantastic job this season.
Ruin the poll??? Really??? That's a little bit mean don't you think? For the fans of SN, J & J are great actors. Maybe not the best, but they're still young and they're very talented.
ReplyDeleteThe Event and Fringe !
ReplyDeleteYou're joking right? Lol I could say the same thing about your vote. Matthew Fox is a terrible actor and doesn't even come close to Michael Emerson, Terry O'Quinn or Jensen Ackles. Fox might be a fan favorite among Lost fans but he's certainly not one of the best actors on TV.
ReplyDeleteThe Event and Fringe rules :)
ReplyDeleteIt seems impossible for some people to accept other opinions.
ReplyDeleteRuin the poll? Really??? That's a little bit mean don't you think? For Sn fans, J & J are great actors! Maybe not the best, but they're still young and yet very talented!
ReplyDeleteOh, that sucks... Hopefully, things will change when the SN freaks "wake up", ha, ha!!!
ReplyDeleteHawaii Five O, Supernatural, and Jensen Ackles, who is still one of the most overlooked, incredible actors around
ReplyDeleteI went with : Lost Girl, Fringe, John Noble ;)
ReplyDeletevoted for The Walking Dead, Lost and Matthew Fox
ReplyDeletei voted for all smallville!!! go smallville. and nof i voted for best new show
ReplyDeleteHere are the Top 6 in each category although they are NOT in order. You'll have to try and guess the order :)
ReplyDeleteBest Lead Actor in a Drama
Hugh Laurie (House)
Jared Padalecki (Supernatural)
Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries)
Jensen Ackles (Supernatural)
John Noble - (Fringe)
Matthew Fox (Lost)
Best Returning Show of 2010
Chuck
Grey's Anatomy
The Vampire Diaries
Supernatural
Fringe
LOST
Best New Show of 2010
Nikita
The Walking Dead
Pretty Little Liars
Hawaii Five-0
Rizzoli & Isle
DarthLocke: Boardwalk Empire, LOST, and Matthew Fox
ReplyDeleteI voted for Blue Bloods, NCIS & Michael Weatherly :D I love them all!
ReplyDeleteGo Matt Smith!
ReplyDeleteI also disagree. Really, Dean/Jensen is so much more than "the poor guy in the story".
ReplyDelete-
ReplyDeleteSupernatural & Jensen Ackles. Do I need a reason?
What's about comedies in Best Returning Show poll? I hope Glee on the Top? =)
ReplyDeleteMy guess:
1. LOST
2. Fringe
3. SPN
4. TVD
5. Chuck
I voted for Pretty Little Liars, Supernatural and Jensen Ackles =)
ReplyDeleteI know, big difference between Pretty Little Liars and Supernatural XD
Not my reasons either. I watched the pilot of Supernatural for three reasons: liked the genre, it was compared to the X-Files, and I liked Jared as Dean in Gilmore Girls (before they married him off). However, in the first season, I was drawn by how much better an actor Jensen Ackles was. Jared has improved drastically throughout the series and I think this season has been his finest acting so far. Now I enjoy both actors - I have always enjoyed the interaction between both characters.
ReplyDeleteI went with Boardwalk Empire, Doctor Who and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad *best show on tv*)
ReplyDeleteSupernatural fans don't ruin the poll. People like you do. To me it looks like you're too obsessed to see that your favourites are not exactly the best actors around. To put it in your words that is.
ReplyDeleteI voted Nikita, Fringe and Hugh Laurie. :) Was very very tough to choose between Lost and Fringe...
ReplyDeleteQuestion: why isn't the poll on your Chrome extension?!
ReplyDeleteSorry! I checked again and ... It's right there! Next time I promise I'll check again before asking stupid questions!
ReplyDeleteSUPERNATURAL is just amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteXD
Well it was easy to choose Supernatural for Best Returning Show but to choose between Jared and Jensen was difficult. I just love how they portray Sam and Dean but I have to say I favor Sam a little more so I chose Jared. If Jensen won though I would be happy as well.
ReplyDeleteAfter nearly 3000 votes in each of the polls
ReplyDeleteThere are just 200 votes separating the Top 4 in Best Lead Actor in a Drama
There are just 250 votes separating the Top 4 in Best Returning Show
Every vote counts!
same here :]]
ReplyDeleteI think Fox may be the 6th or 7th best male actor on LOST, Michael Emerson, Terry O'quin, Naveen Andrews, Mark Pallegrino and Titus Welliver are all better actors in my mind... I am not sure if Vincent (the dog) was male or female but the look he gave at Jack in the finale may place him above Fox too.
ReplyDeletei know it was just the shows and lead actors but i hate not having to option to vote for Anna Torv when Fringe is mentioned :P
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with you but not why you feel that way. think there is a huge difference between "favorite" actor and "best" actor. I can love a bad actor in a role or in a series like, but that does not make him the best actor.... It makes him my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree about Mathew Fox, I think he is an ok actor and had some terrific moments on LOST but he is not what I would call an excellent actor.
Deciding between Bryan Cranston, Michael C Hall, and Terry O'Quinn rips my soul into little pieces.
ReplyDeleteI had no doubts about voting for Lost. But still, I wouldn't mind splitting my vote between Lost, Fringe, Dexter, and Breaking Bad.
And then there was best new show...Choosing The Walking Dead was the easiest thing I've done in a year.
I think some people insult others with purpose (not very common), but most the time it is less an insult to the Supernatural fan and more of n emotional reaction by that fan to a character or show they love, and that is attacked on this forum a fair amount. Case in point, I saw some one refer to Jensen Ackles as Whackles in this thread or some other. OBVIOUSLY that was not an insult ... t was an attempt at humor. To me it was successful BTW. Numerous times that same poster said Ackles could act (at least better than Jared) so I did not see any insult in it. And yet... a SPN fan said it was insulting or over the top. That was the emotional reaction to a non-insult.
ReplyDeleteI love the SPN fans and their emotion! I am jealous at times that I do not feel the same about any show much less Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteI Think There Are some people who are just dont admit that they
ReplyDeletewere wrong and apologize 4 it
at least u dont see supernatural fans insulting other people 's fav show
we just talk about our show , so if u like an actor then just talk about him
it's not right 2 insult other actors
i guess u r the one should respect other people opinions
I hope Soulless Sammy sticks around a while. For me that is the best Jared has been on the series.
ReplyDeleteAt first I did not care for this Doctor ESPECIALLY compared to the last two BRILLIANT portrayals, but I will admit he is growing on me.
ReplyDeletenot really i am just sticking with supernatural till the end
ReplyDeleteI had the same debate in my mind with the edition of sons of Anarchy.... thankfully my soul was not ripped in anyway!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is an insult to Supernatural to say Jared is not a great actor. That does not mean he makes the show bad. I think most critical SPN fans would admit when Supernatural started he was not very good and has gotten better. It just is not an insult because one feels insulted. Personally I am critical of all shows and actors, actresses etc....
ReplyDeleteLOL, you're all defensive and worked up over nothing. What insult? Obsessive? It's not an insult for a fan. You're just trying to frame me as the baddie, but I'm not. Tell me you're not posting the links to this everywhere "OMGG guuyz vote 4 jensen and jared the best 4 evah" and ganging up for votes. That's ruining the poll because people are voting for their favorites and want their show to win. I know this is not too serious and just for fun, but this ruins it.
ReplyDeleteOh, and so predictable by assuming I voted for Lost and Matthew they're my favorites lol. I'm more of a Sawyer fan, but I know Fox owned season 6, that's why I voted for him. I'm glad SPN isn't on any leads, this should be fun, DarkUFO.
LOOL. Jensen better than Matthew Fox? You're joking. Or Bryan Cranston? You're deep in SPN marijuana, girl. And for the record, Terry is considered a supporting actor, and he got a well deserved Emmy for it. Now Fox or Bryan are leads, and he got an Emmy nom for it. I wonder where SPN's or Jensen's noms are.
ReplyDeleteThere was no insult, lol. You just can't hear the truth and some constructive criticism about your show.
ReplyDeleteThank you, sanity still exists lol.
ReplyDeleteI think they could both be improving with age, but I don't think age is an excuse for bad acting. Look at Alicia Witt and Dakota Fanning, They were scary good actors when they were still in elementary school.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but telling Supernatural fans that we're going to ruin the poll is constructive criticism to our show, how?
ReplyDeleteI accept your opinion, and I watch SPN myself, and it's awesome, but tweaking the truth and ganging up for votes is not ok. Jensen and Jared are good, but there are a lot of actors who delivered superior performances this year.
ReplyDeleteI voted for:
ReplyDelete1. Pretty Little Liars
2. The Middle
3. Simon Baker (The Mentalist)
I'm not insulted by the fact that somebody thinks Jared or Jensen may be a lesser actor to the actors on other TV shows. People have their own opinions in regards to how they feel about certain actors and that's fine. What I'm insulted by was the fact that we (meaning the Supernatural fans) were just told that we're going to ruin the poll. That's what I'm insulted by, and it would seem that I wasn't the only fan that was bothered by said post.
ReplyDeleteIn defense of the poll, it was stated that supporting actors can be voted for in the lead category. There is little doubt that some actors (O'Quinn) and Cranston) are BRILLIANT and any critic will be aware of that. Of course that is why they have won awards for multiple years in a row in one case.
ReplyDeleteAs For Mr. Fox I think he is a good actor but not great. He certainly has had some GREAT moments on LOST tho!! Just as Jensen is a good actor (but limited) that has had some GREAT moments on Supernatural. Neither can hold a candle to Emerson or Cranston or O'quinn tho.
Raising Hope, Supernatural, and Jared Padalecki. Jared has done so well with playing the completely different soulless Sam personality all the way up to the mid-season finale.
ReplyDeleteI think it just freaks some people out to see exclamation points and such a rabid following. Rabid fans have ruined a poll or two on here before *cough*Summer Glau*Cough*. I think for fan favorite sites like this one has to accept fans voting for whatever they want. That is why the respected awards shows like the Emmys and Oscars are not voted on by fans... but by critics.
ReplyDeleteGet some interpretation classes and read my post again, I didn't say Jensen and Jared are bad actors, they're just not the best when people like Cranton are on the run too. Stop trying to see insults lol, you just don't want to admit im right.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet here you are again, insulting. Deep in SPN marijuana? All because she has her own personal opinion on the actors as do you? Just because people don't agree with your opinion doesn't give you the right to sling insults. And it certainly doesn't make you right either.
ReplyDeleteLOL yeah IKR a critic doesn't equal an insult, but you tell her that
ReplyDelete:-) I'm not sure how you can call it ganging up for votes when everyone gets one vote each. This site caters to people who like genre shows. Of course those shows are going to get a lot of votes - no conspiracy needed. If by "tweaking the truth", you mean people are voting for who they like then I would say that it is all opinion.
ReplyDeletewatching the argument because it's amusing me lol I am a SUPERNATURAL fan I love it & will defend it always i haven't watched all the shows on the lists so i had to make my choices by what i've seen
ReplyDeletebest new drama
i loved Pretty Little Liars but The Walking Dead surpasses it...if it was in a category for guilty pleasure it would've gotten my vote.
Best returning drama
i've seen Fringe was never interested in Lost Smallville lost my interest a long time ago I like Vampire Diaries, but nothing has caught my interest like Supernatural so to me that makes it the best
Best actor
I went with Jensen I love both of the boys they have made a connection with me that I hate when they are hurting & they can make me go from laughing to yelling at the tv to crying all in ONE freaking episode! And it seems that when Dean cries I cry, I want to jump thro that tv & give that fictional character a giant hug. his ability to inspire that in me is my reasoning for voting for him.
Well, I hate to tell you. That's not happening. Sam got his soul back this past Friday. :)
ReplyDeleteGood to hear. A long way to go though
ReplyDeleteThe criticism part is about the actor. I think spn fans will ruin the poll because they just want to win even though Jensen and Jared are obviously near.is yot the best actors of th
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead and Supernatural were the easy choices. Choosing between Jared and Jensen gave me a headache. In general I'm an equal opportunity fangirl when it comes to the characters, but although I actually nominated Jared (and his performance this season has definitely ratcheted up several notches) in the end I voted for Jensen. Don't hate me Samgirls......please.......
ReplyDeleteIMO Jensen is a great actor, who takes what can sometimes be mediocre writing and turns it into art. Some may disagree but, after all, this entire site is based on opinion.
I've read the comments here so far and once again the debate is becoming slightly heated. Many people just don't understand how passionate SPN fans are about our show, and that's ok - I wouldn't expect them to understand.....
Can I just say to the other SPN fans out there......
PLEASE chill out!
Those others are entitled to their opinion (and just because someone - them and us included - holds an opinion, doesn't make us OR them right)
We do our show no favors by becoming defensive. The others who obviously hold strong opinions will not back down, but neither will we.
This can be a fun contest, taken in the spirit it was meant, or it can degenerate because both sides of the argument can't agree to disagree on matters of OPINION.
SPN fans - we are awesome, loyal, and blessed to have a show we are passionate about. Can we please just relax?
I actually didn't insult Supernatural fans.
ReplyDeleteI never said they're bad, they're good, but not the best, and thats the purpose of this poll.
ReplyDeleteThat's perfectly fine. You criticize them all you want. We all have our own opinions, but it doesn't give you the right to jump down our throats, say we're going to ruin the poll and call us obsessed. We have our own opinions on how we feel about Jared and Jensen and you obviously have yours. So why can't we just call it day and you can back off of the Supernatural fans who prefer their choices and you prefer your own. You don't see us jumping all over your ass because you prefer Matthew Fox and whoever else, now do you? No, I didn't think so.
ReplyDeleteHow am I ruining the poll? Jack is not my favorite, I just think Fox was amazing this year, if I was going to pick my favorite I would have picked Josh, but he obviously isnt the best of 2010. And thats exactly what you guys are doing, picking your faves, not the best. It's like voting for the hottest on a poll asking you who's the smartest lol.
ReplyDeleteI never said you did...
ReplyDeleteI thought the "smoking supernatural marijuana" was funny and in no way an insult. IT is the equivalent of saying drinking the kool-aid or any other euphenism. And one can conceivably be factual when saying actors that have won multiple awards for being the best actor are indeed... the best actors. At least one of the best.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Walking Dead, Supernatural and Jared Padalecki.
ReplyDelete1. Justified (I hesitated with Hawaii Five-0 and Terriers, but my love for Justified is just too great)
ReplyDelete2. Doctor Who (even though season 5 had a lot of flaws)
3. Timothy Olyphant (because <3, basically. Hesitated with Donal Logue and Matt Smith)
I gree I don't think it is ganging up. Some fan bases are just more vocal or more emotional in their statements. But as long as it is one vote per person... no way it can be a conspiracy.
ReplyDeleteWell you see it one way, and I see it another. Sorry, but we're going to have to agree to disagree. I don't see things the way you do, and you don't see things the way I do. Not everybody is going to agree and that doesn't make people right either. In my opinion telling somebody that they're deep in SPN marijuana is an insult to the Supernatural fan just because they don't agree with the other person.
ReplyDeleteHmm, yeah, but people do ask other people who have nothing to do with this or dont watch any shows to vote. I mean tweaking the truth as considering two good actors the best when they're not, just because it's your favorite show
ReplyDeleteI saw the transition happen ... but that does not mean it will keep or he will be the old Sam immediately. I am hoping there is an adjustment period where I get some more soulless Sammy quips and actions. And as any SPN fan knows.... things rarely go smoothly for the brothers Winchester!!
ReplyDeleteain't that the freaking truth i wonder how long the wall Death put up will actually last. you could get your dark Sammy back yet
ReplyDeleteLike I said earlier. I think we have to accept the fans voting here for actors or shows that are clearly not the artistic "best" by any measuring standard. That is what the Emmy Award and Oscar Award shows are for. Now if they vote for Jensen or Jared I will be upset too! LOL
ReplyDeleteWell that wasnt intended to be an insult, and you're making it sound bigger than it is. And it's the truth, you are obsessed and you'll do anything to win this, just like some other fanbases did, but you guys happen to be all here on this site specifically
ReplyDeleteSee when I told you spn fans are obsessed? It's not a bad thing but you know, they love their show so much that it compromises their judgement
ReplyDeleteHawaii 5-0 for best new show! Alex O'Loughlin for best actor! The Good Wife for best returning show.
ReplyDeleteI don't have to back off because I'm not attacking or insulting anyone, I'm just stating something a lot of people can see. I know you have your opinions and I respect them but you just can't tell someone with a good judgment that Jensen or Jared are the best of the year when freaking Bryan Cranston is there too lol. And I hope there are more sane people here to not let a fanbase, the spn fanbase or not, to ruin this
ReplyDeleteAs a Supernatural fan I can say... this one was not offended. I can also say that th two leads are NOT the "best" actors on TV. That in no way makes me like the show any less. Opinions are good, we all have them, but there should be a standard for calling one the best at something. That is what being critical is all about. The shows or actors I vote for are often not my favorites, because that is often not what the question is. That is why I suggested earlier for polls in the future not to use the word "best"... use "favorite" in its place. A "favorite" is a persona opinion, but "best" should be more than that.
ReplyDeleteI just want to say that I voted for Jared Padalecki in this poll because he has done an excellent job this year of selling the completely different character than he has ever had to play in Supernatural. I think that Supernatural is under-appreciated and will always vote for it in any best of poll because both Jared and Jensen are excellent actors and deserver any award or recognition that they receive for selling the sometimes not so excellent stories. Somehow they always make it into an excellent show to watch every week.
ReplyDeleteHa! I thought it was you who posted that comment, and found this odd until I looked back at it again. I happen to like the humor of that poster even when I disagree one hundred percent with what he/she says. Though I don't think people misunderstood when he/she said, "I can't stand Jensen Whackles acting either." That was pretty plain. :-P
ReplyDeleteSpeaking for myself, I specifically have not done that, nor do I intend to. I'm NOT just telling anybody with good judgment that Jared and Jensen are the best. Jared is one of my favorite actors, yes, but I'm not going to go around being rabid and yelling at people and shoving his name in their faces just because they don't agree with me, unlike what you're doing to me right now. That's great. Freaking Bryan Cranston. Vote your heart out for him. You don't think Jared is great. That's fine. That's YOUR opinion. That's NOT mine. I don't see Supernatural fans all over this board freaking out at people and shoving Jared and Jensen's names into people's faces either.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I would be SHOCKED if old Sam was back in the next episode or three! HE has a wall that needs to be broken down... or at the very least accepted and dealt with, he has a tutored soul that has to be re-acclimated, and he has whatever foul stench the devil left behind. If he is old Sammy in the next epsiode... LOOK OUT!! Something bad will happen because of it be sure!!
