I think they haven't changed this category ever since the shows listed started to air... and I pray for Kyra Sedqwick NOT to win. C'mon, so many great characters and hers is the best? No way. Of course it's not a bad performance, but it isn't the best either.

Other than that, I was kida surprised with Chris Colfer for Glee. I know the GG have already nominated him, but still, I didn't believe the SAG would do the same.

  2. Soooo agree about Brenda/ Kyra! The character is fun at times... annoying at others but in no way her best work!

  3. One or two exceptions maybe, but another great list of nominees. Best part is that the SAG remembered to nominated Glenn Close!! Love that they nominated the hidden gem 'Hot in Cleveland' too.

Winers (In order listed) : Mad Men, Modern Family, Bryan Cranston, Julianna Marguiles, Ty Burrell, Jane Lynch, Al Pacino (Don't Know Jack -he was AWE-inspiring in this), and Claire Dames(Temple Grandin).

Not my favorites in some categories, but how I think the SAG will vote.

  4. why is it always the same set of shows?
all these award thingo's need to start considering other shows as well

  5. The purpose of awards shows is not to spread around the awards, it is to reward the artistic achievement of the best in a given category. Part of the problem is that it is the same people on the nomination committees year after year. I think they do consider other shows, but they always come to the same conclusions because it is the same people that are looking for the same things. The same shows and actors get in to most award nominee lists because usually they are 1. better actors or series than most on TV or less likely 2. They are in vogue and are a trendy pick for critics. Some award shows (People's Choice, MTV) do have a different standard or ignore critics and comittees all together and let the public vote.

  6. I appreciate the Dexter nod, but I don't really consider it an "acting ensemble" show... The show's equation is really Michael C. Hall + that season's focus.

Also, sad news about MCH and Jennifer Carpenter splitting. Sad for them, and possibly bad for the show.

  7. I was surprised they were in ensemble category too. Sure it is a cast but as you said it is really all about him and his focus each year unlike some shows. Maybe it their equivalent of Best Drama Series? Has most of the contenders for the Globes Best Drama category.

  8. I dunno, since when you look at the previous winners (in the last four years it was Mad Men twice, Lost, and The Sopranos) they do tend to award actual ensembles, Lost in particular. The supporting cast of Dexter is very strong and "well-cast," but they are much more just that, "supporting cast," than the other characters in those other shows. Weird.

  9. Good point. It's hard to know for sure since those winners you mentioned could easily be the best show on TV or "Best Drama" of the year as well as Best Ensemble Cast. Not too surprising that great shows have great casts.... or is it great casts help make great shows?

  10. Probably both! :P

  11. i know that it all makes a lot of sense but thats why i prefer peoples choice awards and stuff like that because its stuff i'm interested in
i just lose interest when all those awards shows just nominate the same 5 shows or actors year after year
