NOTE: Due to the NFL game all CW shows are currently showing inflated viewing numbers. These will be adjusted down when the final numbers come out.

-Ratings Breakdown:
A night of repeats on CBS finished a close second behind ABC, with a one-tenth of a rating point disadvantage. Third overall was Fox, which will benefit when American Idol steps into the Thursday 8 p.m. hour in January (into relocated Bones), followed by lackluster NBC and The CW. Although CBS traveled the encore route, it still beat a night of all originals on NBC by a hefty 77 percent in the overnights. And there is no reason to believe airing an unprecedented three-hour comedy block on Thursday effective on January 20 will be beneficial to NBC.
Despite airing a repeat, CBS’ successfully relocated The Big Bang Theory still won the 8 p.m. half-hour, with a 5.9 rating/ 9 share. That led into encore telecasts of $#*! My Dad Says (#2: 4.8/ 7), CSI (#2: 6.5/10) and The Mentalist (#1: 6.6/11) from 8:30-11 p.m. While kudos goes to The Mentalist second-run for winning the 10 p.m. hour in the overnights, ABC’s competing Private Practice (#2: 6.4/10) is a shoo-in for victory among adults 18-49.
The Thursday standout on ABC, of course, was soapy Grey’s Anatomy at a dominant 8.2/13 at 9 p.m. Comparably, that topped the charts for the evening, building from a repeat of annual holiday special Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town (#3: 4.2/ 6) by a significant 95 percent. Aforementioned Private Practice dipped by 24 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of Grey’s Anatomy (8.4/13).
Fox’s Bones finished first overall at 8 p.m., with a 6.1/ 9 in the overnights. That led into struggling Fringe, which moves to Fridays at 9 p.m. on Jan. 28 (out of returning Kitchen Nightmares), at a fourth-place 3.8/ 6 at 9 p.m.
Over at NBC, the one piece of positive news was The Office, which always scores among adults 18-49. And 30 Rock out of Community did build by 13 percent in the overnights (but a 3.5/ 5 is still a stinker). Here was NBC by program:
NBC/Thursday
8:00 p.m. – Community: 3.1/ 5 (#4)
8:30 p.m. – 30 Rock: 3.5/ 5 (#4)
9:00 p.m. – The Office: 4.8/ 7 (#3)
9:30 p.m. – Outsourced: 3.4/ 5 (#4)
10:00 p.m. – The Apprentice: 3.0/ 5 (#3)
Chances of NBC ever doing another season of The Apprentice, which concludes next Thursday, sans the “C” list celebrities is nil. The network, as a reminder, is revamping Thursday effective on Jan 20 with the new line-up as follows:
8:00 p.m.: Community
8:30 p.m.: Perfect Couples (new)
9:00 p.m.: The Office
9:30 p.m.: Parks and Recreation (season premiere)
10:00 p.m.: 30 Rock (new time)
10:30 p.m.: Outsourced (new time)
The CW closed the night with its most-watched series, The Vampire Diaries (#5: 2.6/ 4) and freshman Nikita (#5: 1.8/ 7), which may not be the best fit demographically.

I can't believe Fringe is struggling like this. What a great show - especially last night.
ReplyDeleteFringe went from a 3.6/5 for 'The Abducted' to a 3.8/6 for 'Entrada', which after a week off is good! It has the fans when they know about it :)
ReplyDeleteI understand it's a term given for ratings, but I'm starting to take Fringe being called a loser personally :/
ReplyDeleteThe more I read this persons summary, the more I think they don't watch TV, they just stare at numbers all day. Fringe has gone up a bit, and that's the sort've thing they should be talking about as well. It's so plainsighted to just what it's up against in the hourslot.
ReplyDeletelast episode was indeed one of the best episodes of the show. Initially the show was more or less like a procedural with some serialized elements added into it. But now, it's more or less a full fledged serialized drama; I think that is why it's struggling with the ratings as every other serialized show on TV. I just hope it performs well enough to get a renewal for season 4
ReplyDeleteI am aghast that Fringe still isn't pullling the ratings. It's fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI just don't understand why the ratings of Fringe can be so low D: Like... it's a great awesome amazing show
ReplyDeleteIt needs to improve in the 18-49s if the show has to be renewed. With the show moving to friday, thats gonna be hard.
ReplyDeleteFRINGE c'mon this season is awesome guys. But I get that people stopped watching since I did... But then I watched them all two weeks ago and DAMN! It'S AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI really wish people would quit falling into Grey's Anatomy's vagenda.
ReplyDeleteOMG ! FRINGEEEEEEEEEEEEE COME ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteoh i freaking love you haha
ReplyDeleteall these people falling into other shows vagenda that can't see how amazing fringe
i love how every comment on here is pretty much about Fringe. How is it that i see Fringe EVERYWHERE yet there aren't enough viewers? networking fucking confuses me. Shows should not be about numbers it should be about the quality of the show. and Fringe is freaking quality.
ReplyDeleteSpoilerTV shall soon be called FringeTV, and I will freakin' love it.
ReplyDeleteHa, me to.
ReplyDeleteall the comments here speak for themselves. Enought said.
ReplyDeleteWhat I hope right now is for Fringe to do better on Friday night. So guys, Please please make time on your beesyyy schedule and watch Fringe live on Fridays!!! Thats the only way to get Fringe renewed for the 4th [and possibly 5th, 6th and 7th] season.
This is a quality show and dont let it die a premature death :((
