  1. OMG! What an awesome end to the first season! Thank you, AMC for such an amazing show!

  2. Absolutely heart wrenching, adrenaline pumped, and thrilling as well as boomtastic. What a finale should be for every show. WOW.

  3. Great episode! Holy crap the CDC exploding like that!

I think Andrea's pregnant. And Dale may be the father. I was getting weird vibes that he was in love with her.

Wish there had been a cliffhanger ending, though I can't wait for season two!

Shane continues to be creepy and he crossed the line with Lori.

  4. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest for the last ten minutes at an insane rate. What a finale! What a first season!

  5. It just hit me we gotta wait like 8 months for some more. Boooo!

  6. Definitely an intense and emotional ending. I was really hoping for more time with the two "now deceased". I was loving both their characters. But hey, if I lived through 8 seasons of 24, I can handle this lol. Season one was a great ride and great TV!!!! Can't wait for season 2.

  7. Booo? It's actually a good thing! Think about it. They'll have plenty of time for writing and all that. Would you rather another season be back to back but with everything rushed or wait another eight months and get the surprise of a lifetime? Hell, I'd be willing to wait a year, with a show like this.
But I get your meaning. Awesome show and want more, though : )

  8. Wow that was awful. If the show continues to take this revisionist take the comic might as well take their name off of it as they will look nothing alike.

  9. for a story arc that wasn't in the comic, i must say that was great. really liked the jenner character and i think now they set it up to get back on track. i expect to see the prison in season 2.

  10. In six comic issues we got great character development and tons of set up for future stories. In six episodes we got laughably bad VFX and a bunch of redshirts who took up excess screen time.

  11. This one was a small let down for me honestly. It was predictable that the CDC center would be no help and they would have to leave. The writing and acting of the episode was AWESOME, but it was the only episode of the season where I was not on the edge of my seat not knowing what would happen. The doctor dying with the center was as obvious as the captain of a ship going down with it, and I assumed one other would be caught in the center's destruction. I was not sure which honestly, but that was because I did not think it would be Rick, Shane, Carl, Lori, Dale, Andrea, Daryl or Glenn. As soon as I saw that Jacqui was not in the list (and I had forgotten her completely) I knew she was the second to die. The other characters will all be needed for future plots, but she was unneeded. It was very well done and emotional too, but without the shock or at least surprise of the previous 5 episodes it just was not as good as the other episodes to me.

The true greatness and emotion of this finale will pay off next season as it affects the survivors.

  12. Like watching HBO True Blood, it takes time to accept the series on its own merits as a different entity from the comic(or books in True Blood's case). I was annoyed by all the tweaks for the first 6 or so episodes, but as time went on I accepted the series as different from the book and enjoyed it AS MUCH as the books. If you want something exactly like the comics you can go read the comics again This is the TV series. I loathe FX and CGI and I have not been bothered by the FX in the series AT ALL. So, I disagree completely.

  14. go to borders and pick up the first book of the comics and then get back to me

  15. Yes but with the southern vampire mysteries you just had text and you could image the rest. With the Walking Dead you have both text and art so if you are going to base any kind of story on it, it should probably be similar to the comic or else it is probably not going to do well. I like tv just as much as I like comics and want the TV series to be just as good as I know it can be.

  16. Oh I don't doubt you that the comics are AWESOME. I have heard from everyone I know that has read them that they are.

    ReplyDelete
  17. They really are. The characters make such huge changes in so few issues that its hard to watch 6 episodes and not see a large number of the group get killed/die or something else major happening. Felt like shane should have died

    ReplyDelete
  18. Maybe some things are not so easily executed in reality as they are with pen, ink and paper? I'm not sure since I have not read them. If it is completely diffrent than the comics to you already... I might disagree with it not going to do well. Itt is the most successful cable TV first season EVER including all the ways it diverges from the comics. I hope it gets better for you, because I am loving it!

  19. Yeah I can see how that would be confusing if I read the comics! I think they just do not kill off characters as often or as fast on most TV shows, because it costs time and money to recast new characters after every death, people become attached and dislike their favorites being killed, sometimes a chemistry between actors is so good they adjust scripts( or in this case existing comics) to take advantage of good chemistry. I guess maybe I am lucky I did not read the comics first since I am VERY anal and obsessive about movies or TV series matching books! I still bitch everytime I watch Fellowship of the Ring... "THAT SHOULD BE GLORFINDEL NOT ARWEN!!"

  20. I have the same idea about Andrea! Dale cares too much about her (and Amy), so, probably you're right!!

  21. It's more like 11 months. As far as I know the next season will start some time around Halloween 2011. But it'll be worth waiting that long.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Haha, I'm pretty much the same. I pretty much always find something to bitch about in a movie or TV show that adapts a book I read. You can never achieve the same level of detailedness and somethings are and have to be different in order to work on the screen. I was tempted to start reading the comics when I first heard about this show, but decided not to do because I reconned it would just ruin my experience and I'm glad about that.

  23. Great episode, but I kind of expected a bit more. I was really hoping we would see a big showdown between Rick & Shane, but I guess it's just postponed, it simply has to coming. I also felt Daryl was a bit underused, Norman Reedus needs something to do, love every scene he's in. Seems like we have to wait until Merle returns.
Almost forgot about Morgan. After last episode I thought he might show up, but I completely forgot him while watching the episode. At least there's still some great stuff to look forward to.

I would have liked to see some walkers approaching the explosion site in the last scene. This blast should have attracted at least some of them.

  24. To those who insist on comparing the show to the comic: This is spoilerTV, not spoilerCOMICS.com!

  25. I agree with all of that. It sucks that the season was so short. I remember this feeling...wanting answers to so many questions...but having to wait damn near a year. It feels like Lost all over again!

    ReplyDelete
  26. The grenade blowing out the window should have attracted the walkers. it was another minute or two before they finally drove off and every other time in the series there's noise walkers are there in well under a minute.

    ReplyDelete
  27. There's always one.

I didn't read the comic and I'm thoroughly enjoying this TV SHOW!
They're not making this show especially for you, they're making it for a TV audience.
It's a good show, and just because there are differences from the comic doesn't make it "awful"... I can't even see how that makes sense. Besides, you already know what happens in the comic, so why can't you just appreciate the fact that they're adding some original stuff... lucky you.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I really thought Mearle was going to show up for the finale, but I guess he'll show up next season.
Great, explosive finale. Can't wait for Season 2.

  29. Sorry that I'm giving my opinion on an episode poll dude. I guarantee there were tons of people who felt the exact same way

  30. My point is: so what if it isn't the same as the comic. Good TV is still good TV and deserves credit as such, regardless of what it was based on. I'm sick of pretentious people who think they have to rip on shows or movies that are otherwise excellent, just because they read a book or comic and have to show some false sense of superiority for having done so.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think you are grouping together criticism over a story that people have a deep emotional connection with and ripping adaptations because they aren't fully truthful. I still think it is a good show but when making an adaptation you still have to stay true to some aspects of the story. Otherwise why hire the creator of the comic, Robert Kirkman, as a producer and let him pitch story ideas if you are just going to take the characters in directions you want them to go in. Watch the AMC video where Frank D. talks about his idea for the episode, he essentially says he decided they should go to CDC and veer away from the comics because that is what he would do. Now if you ask me that is pretty pretentious and showing some false sense of superiority.

  32. I guess I don't see the issue. The comic book series is what it is and every detail in it does not need to be followed verbatim for the series to have shown respect. The spirit of the comic, the basic premise, the characters, many screenshots that match up almost exactly to comic cells. Some things on paper just do not translate to screen. Anytime they make a book into a movie or tv show the first thing thats done is to hire a writer to adapt it for the screen. They edit content, change content and create content to express the book/comic in a screen friendly way. I do understand that there are already visuals in a comic book compared to a book, but it is still not live action motion. They take elements from various chapters and move them around to make a better story.. build tension, make a character more dynamic. The more detail in a book the more it is likely parts will be outright ignored to simplify story-lines. I have read more than one review by fans of the comics that consider the series a very successful adaptation of the comics that is true to the comic. It just is not possible to please all fans all the time. I hope it gets better for you next year or i hope you decide to quit torturing yourself and expecting the comic on TV. That is what I had to do with various adaptations, because I miss elements from the books.

  33. I can appreciate that not everyone is going to like everything about every episode. I just don't feel it deserves to be described as "awful" simply because you want it to be something that it's not.

You say "it should probably be similar to the comic or else it is probably not going to do well"... Have you seen the viewing figures? It's doing well, my friend... very well. And I'm willing to bet that the majority of those viewers have never read the comic, so why should the makers of the show be expected to cater for the minority you represent when there's a television show to be made?

  34. I don't think she's pregnant. In all the interviews I heard with Laurie Holden (the actress who plays Andrea) she says that right now she just looks at Dale as friend. She said whatever relationship they have in the future will progress slowly and naturely. Basically they might hook up but it's not happening right now. She got sick because she drank so much and is devestated over her sister who was her heart and everything she cared about.

  35. I thought this episode was great & as a comic reader I love the deviations. Sometimes it doesn't work but so far all the little changes they've made have made a lot of sense to me.
Anyway I was curious what everyone is thinking about what the doctor whispered to Rick? I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the blood he took earlier. Maybe something to do with the infection? I know some people who seem to think maybe he found the infection in everyone's blood? Anyone else have any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Through blood tests you get to know about several diseases (not just the zombie viral infection) and pregnancy.

If someone was zombie-infected that would be a panic for Jenner and he wouldn't let them in (or at least would try to isolate them) because the doctor was mad but not that mad! He wanted to die but obviously not by a zombie. So that could lead to some other illness, but IMHO would be a futile story as they already have a serious disease to be confronted with.

Pregnancy issues... we now have 3 ladies able to the function: Andrea, Lori and the third one I can't remember the name (the one with that 'lovable' husband and a daughter). If pregnacy is the case - and if I was the writer - the drama would be Lori not knowing who's the father of the yet to born child, while Andrea would regain some reason to live when she adopts the girl previously mentioned being the daughter of the I-can't-remember-her-freakin'-name-that-probably-is-next-in-line-to-become-zombie-chow.

Anyway, I believe there are other chances we might speculate. For instance, Jenner giving to Rick the secret location (or even just a general direction) of where other CDCs are or any other kind of place where Jenner suspects someone might still be alive.

    November 2011 we'll see ;)

  38. Yeah I heard about the pregnancies, which for other readers of the comic would make sense. I was wondering though because can't some viruses be inactive? I don't know just curious. I do think the pregnancy is possible. Another thing I was thinking maybe he did tell him about another location. If it's another CDC, I don't know because that's the only CDC in the country. But yeah maybe another secret facility that does testing of some kind. Though if Rick were to go after that it would be a huge deviation from the comic and honestly wouldn't fit much with the story line and what it is about, which is the people living their lives. That would take it into a different direction. At this point I'm starting to think maybe Lori is pregnant and he told him that. If that's the case there hasn't been enough time for Rick to have inpregnanted her and for them to know so i'm guessing it would be Shane's.

  39. O and you're talking about Carol, and I agree. I do think if she's not next to die then she will sometime in season 2. She's really different from the comic Carol and so far she's been more of a background character to me.
