Hmm, no comments in The Mentalist poll. I'll post something!
Rigsby and Grace need to do something about that sexual tension already. It's obvious in every scene they're together. She's gotta ditch the new guy first, though.
Patrick could use some release as well. Out of tradition I would suggest Teresa, but the two of them have sooooooo very few scenes that have any indication of sexual tension. They're still in that "just friends" zone. I have a sneaking suspicion it will never happen though. Either way, they should introduce some new character to seduce him.
As for Cho...he can keep being emotionally ambivalent.
I liked it. The new investigator is a great match for Patrick. I was a little disappointed with the lack of Gregory Itzin scenes. I was hoping for a nice moment with him and Lisbon at least. I also think the writers could have showed a team moment or a nice Jane/Lisbon scene in the end. I mean it was a Christmas episode, I would have expected something. :/
Ditto. Gregory Itzin was great as always, I could have done with a bit more of him. I was expecting a scene between Jane and Lisbon but it probably did not make sense with that Scrooge-like Lisbon. Anyway the last scene was genious :) I think Laroche is an interesting character, very well portrayed. He's creepy, the kind of guy you would not want to be alone with in an interrogation room. The case was average but the bits with Laroche/Minelly were fabulous. I'm looking forward to the arson investigation.
Scrooge-like? oO A small moment between them wouldn't have hurt a little. Instead I thought the last scene with Jane on the beach was a little off- I mean for a Christmas themed episode (and also because where I live it's snowing so seeing him an the beach felt weird to me LOL):
Yeah, she was a bit like Scrooge (A Christmas Carol): "I can't believe people buy this crap [the dancing Santa]", or "I just think people can celebrate a holiday without lying to children about a magical fat guy with a sack full of toys". She needs to soften up a bit before having a nice Christmas scene with Jane ;) And about the beach, well, it's California. It looks about right to me :D
Well that was because the revelation of Santa not being real was a trauma for her "It crushed my heart like a cigarette". That's her, that's Lisbon- she's always like that but she does have a soft side that we saw often enough. Besides Jane and Lisbon had nice moments before so I don't see why they couldn't in this episode. I mean OR with the whole team together. That would have been nice. But I'm biased anyway ;) I know it's California of course, just thought that they could have found a more fitting ending for a Christmas episode.
"It crushed my heart like a cigarette" LOL! Nice one! Anyway, the scene when Lisbon was supporting Drunken Jane was nice (I half expected him to kiss her cheek when she left). I guess the writers did not really want to give it a big Christmas touch to the episode. After all, they had never had Christmas episodes before. Good or bad as it may be, this is not Bones (which I do like very much, don't take me wrong, but I think it tries not to be very cheesy and I appreciate that). My humble opinion :)
I don't watch Bones but I think the writers manage to leave the cheesyness out of all scenes they write, especially the emotional ones so again I don't think it would have hurt one little bit (kinda liked the ending scene in 2x08). Imho the writers need to start taking a bit more risk.
Yeah the drunken scene was funny. I have to admit I didn't know if Jane was faking again or if it was real.
I agree. They have to start taking more risks, otherwise, when it does come time to put them together (I know- I'm being bold), it's going to look forced and unnatural.
Like most have said, it didn't feel very Christmas-y. I was expecting an enthusiastic Jane exchanging presents or forcing everyone to have a "jolly" good time. Overall, though, I just thought the episode lacked "omph"- if that makes any sense :P
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
