Is this really true?!? who's the source, is it legit?! Us fans make things sound really good most of the time lol. This will be disappointing if it wasn't :(
I expect oit to be renewed regardless of this being true or false. Other FOX shows will likely be cancelled and they need something on the air that is established to "anchor" nights. So do not fret Fringe fans.
I can't see Fringe fetching much of an asking price for syndication. Besides, Warner Brothers produces Fringe, not Fox so the network wouldn't be the ones to cash in on syndication.
Such good news if it's true. Fringe is an excellent show, definitely worthy of a 4th season. They can take this show anywhere really, if they so wanted.
Wow. wow. Yeah, I'm going to pretend I didn't see this until it's confirmed. I'd rather not have my rising hope for this show squished like a particularly cute beetle.
:D This kind of makes my day. I have been looking at pictures of neurons for the last 10 hours and was basically going to let Fringe be the highlight of my day. Whether or not this rumour is true, hope is hope! Am even more excited for fall finale now.
If this is true I bet it is because FOX wants calm the masses. They want us to understand they are behind the show and not to get down about the Friday move. I've never been particularly worried about not getting a renewal. Even though FOX has a shaky track record of axing our faves, I've always felt they liked Fringe and its performance. I think they recognize that even though the audience is not all that large, it is solid. And that can go a long way.
HOLY BALLS. If they announce it this early, they really meant it when they said they had faith in the show. That would be absolutely amazing! You must find another source that backs this up, Andy!!! :)
While I completely agree with you on this (seeing how they didn't cancel it last season with such middling ratings and then completely renewed it for 22 eps this season as well...even if it does get canceled, we really can't blame FOX this time) but in all honesty, I think Fringe was supposed to be the new flagship show for FOX...and for the first season it really hit it off. (It did as well as Glee is doing--it got 4.0-5.0 in the 18-49 ratings and stayed around 11-12 million viewers) so when it crumbled down to 6 million viewers on Thursday, that's just absolutely rough to see such a good show fall like that. FOX really must care about this show to let it keep going as it is. If they renew it, even for just 1 more season, I'd be as happy as Directv picking up the canceled Damages and renewing it for TWO more seasons: which interprets to OMFGI'MGONNADIEHAPPYNOW!
I think they didn't expect high ratings for Thursday. Not with that unbelievably competitive time slot. From a business standpoint, I can see why they want to move it to Friday. They need a solid series for that night. Fridays have been a mess for them for many years. Fringe has the possibility of reinvigorating that night in a way Dollhouse or Terminator or Firefly never could. We, the fans just have to tune in. We need to pull in about the same numbers. If we can do that, this show is safe.
Well, you also have to note the changes in the next few months... It seems as though Lie to Me and Human Target are getting burned off to be canceled (or maybe just exiled to Summers from now on...) This is because they are getting "2-hour specials" for about 2-4 weeks before shows like The Chicago Code and American Idol settle in. I feel like in an attempt to not only keep Fringe going, but to get it out of the way of upcoming projects, they had to move it to Fridays. Next Fall, FOX is debuting ALOT of shows, from their new (ultra-expensive) sci-fi "Terra Nova" to the 3-hour X-Factor...and there seems to be quite a few more projects on the way--including a new JJ Abrams show (Alcatraz)...So, we're definitely still in rocky waters, but I think Fringe is gonna fare better than Human Target or Lie To Me...I think fans of those shows should be ready to accept cancellation...
I concur. I am usually not optimistic about these kinds of things but I just have a good feeling about this. Lie to Me not getting the back nine is definitely another reason to think things bode well for Fringe.
Good, now I don't have to worry about what would have happened "if" Fox is bringing the show back, and now I'll have a chance to find out in due time. Love Dexter! it's the best show on cable.
Personally, I think Fringe is a MUCH better show than either Lie to Me or Human Target(and I like Human Target), and I think Friday Night Lights is one of the best shows on TV this decade and Las Vegas was passable at best. So I would prepare yourself to be disgusted again....
I wouldn't be totally surprised of a renew, it's Fox darling after all, but I would be absolutely surprised of a renew RIGHT NOW. The time just doesn't seem right.
Nope. I've had the misfortune of being forced to sit through both Fringe and FNL. Other than a couple of nice looking kids on FNL (Fringe doesn't even have that) there is nothing of quality on either show. I'd rather be in a dentist chair. HT and LTM feature two great actors. Other than taping Bones I'll be done with Fox in February.
Fringe netted a 1.7 rating/4.74 million viewers last night. I reaffirm my statement that this is false, AT LEAST until they see how it does on Fridays.
Shut the front door! Someone's lost their mind! Anna Torv is GORGEOUS, mind you.
And Human Target is probably the product of some sort of contract Mark Valley had with Fox after he was KILLED OFF OF FRINGE... So, you should thank Fringe for even having Human Target! Obviously, you don't have the ability to comprehend the absolute genius of the writing AND the acting on Fringe... John Noble is overdue for an Emmy, and Anna Torv has just earned herself some credibility in the last year.
How is the search for new info going Dark? It just doesn't make sense to me why they'd announce it this early- especially before a Friday move! But I hope its true. Any luck?
I know it's a very popular show here and I watch Fringe too (although I need to catch up, missed the last 5 episodes), but somehow I never became a big fan of it. I loved Lost, loved The X-Files and Fringe combines important elements of those shows. But even though they have good characters like Olivia and Walter I never really connected to any of them and I guess that's what I'm missing. I really liked Charlie, but ever since he died it's not the same for me. And Charlie from the alternative universe also couldn't get me hooked again.
But I still hope for the devoted fans out there that this rumour turns out to be true. Still Fringe is one of the few watchable network shows.
2008-2009 Fringe season average: 3.97 rating 2009-2010 Fringe season average: 2.34 rating 2010-2011 Fringe season average: 1.88 rating (up to and including 12/9/10 episode)
The data speaks for itself. Whoever said earlier in this topic that Fringe could reinvigorate Friday nights is in clear denial. There is no question that Fringe will drop off considerably from its current average. How much is the real question and the most important question is what is an acceptable dropoff average to FOX. For all these reasons and more, FOX will not renew Fringe until they see how it does on Fridays. And really, it's a long shot anyway. I think we all know that. When people start using phrases like "small, but dedicated fanbase" and "high DVR numbers", you already know you've lost.
I think I would've just held onto this tidbit until I'd had more info/another source verify it, Andy... I'm seeing people say awful things about you all over the 'net now... Especially Tvbythenumbers... (which I like for the info, but you won't find a more cynical bunch of anonymous users anywhere, I'd imagine...)
YAY Dark!!! I hope your sources are correct. You always had the most legit Lost info. Gosh I rememer on April 1st getting the Suliet (Juliet, Sawyer) spoilers for the finale and everyone thinking it was an april fools joke. You had every single detail. That was the best spoiler ever w/Elizabeth Mitchell coming back. This is definately a close second if it turns out to be true.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteWOOOOOOP!! What a great week! Dexter, and now possibly Fringe!!
ReplyDeleteIs it April 1st already?
ReplyDeleteIs this really true?!? who's the source, is it legit?! Us fans make things sound really good most of the time lol. This will be disappointing if it wasn't :(
ReplyDeleteI expect oit to be renewed regardless of this being true or false. Other FOX shows will likely be cancelled and they need something on the air that is established to "anchor" nights. So do not fret Fringe fans.
ReplyDeletePlease let it be true :D
ReplyDeleteWohoo! The kitties are back! Lol
Praying to God... please let this be true!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel like believing in this would kind of be like believing in Santa. Here's to hoping it's real!
ReplyDeleteWho was the source? Was it legit, sorry you will get this same question from me all day. We wanna help get the confirmation if there is one.
ReplyDeletehhahaha I like the kitteh!!! but yah!!!!!!! Fringe ftw!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to find out. Will be watching this post with a close close eye!
ReplyDeleteThis better be true, I've already planned out the orgy celebration.
ReplyDeletefringe definitely deserves it! it's an awesome show!
ReplyDeleteI can't see Fringe fetching much of an asking price for syndication. Besides, Warner Brothers produces Fringe, not Fox so the network wouldn't be the ones to cash in on syndication.
ReplyDeleteOMG this good Fringe rules.
ReplyDeleteAre they normally reliable?
ReplyDeleteSuch good news if it's true.

ReplyDeleteThanks Dark!!!
I find this very hard to believe. I wouldn't expect FOX to decide one way or the other until they see how does on Fridays.
ReplyDeleteWow, that would be surprising for FOX, they finaly use their brains and not just numbers :DD
ReplyDelete...Damn I am trying my hardest not to get SUPER EXCITED about this but you are making it really really REALLY hard not to...
ReplyDeleteIt would sure be a nice Christmas present from FOX, I really hope this is true (can't wait to see the 9th episode by the way) :).
ReplyDeleteFantastic news!! I hope this is true. Fringe is so good right now its too good too let go.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, what an hour this is. Fringe is on, and I see this :)
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo!
ReplyDeleteIf this is true I bet it is because FOX wants calm the masses. They want us to understand they are behind the show and not to get down about the Friday move. Yeah, FOX doesn't get anything for syndication OR DVD sales. :X

I don't think I've ever been in such a Fringe mood. Fringe here, John Noble there (Twitter), Marionette on the screens. :D
ReplyDeleteI concur. I am usually not optimistic about these kinds of things but I just have a good feeling about this. Lie to Me not getting the back nine is definitely another reason to think things bode well for Fringe.
ReplyDeleteoh god thank you for the wonderful news!!! *dance happilly*
ReplyDeletePlease please please make it be true!!!
Yes! Even though I'm still only half way through Season 1 this makes me VERY happy! xD
ReplyDeleteto early to believe in that (
ReplyDeleteGood, now I don't have to worry about what would have happened "if" Fox is bringing the show back, and now I'll have a chance to find out in due time.
ReplyDeleteLove Dexter! it's the best show on cable.
If this is true, it's a really great (early) Christmas present :D
ReplyDeleteOh please please PLEASE let this be true! I know I'm following it to Friday nights!
ReplyDeleteIf Fringe survives Lie To Me and Human Target I'll be as disgusted as when NBC canceled Las Vegas and kept Friday Night Lights.
ReplyDeleteNot getting my hopes up, but if it true, then I may actually watch more on FOX again.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think Fringe is a MUCH better show than either Lie to Me or Human Target(and I like Human Target), and I think Friday Night Lights is one of the best shows on TV this decade and Las Vegas was passable at best. So I would prepare yourself to be disgusted again....

ReplyDeleteThey have been in the past, but like all rumours should be treated as
ReplyDeletesuch until we get at least a 2nd confirmation.
Yep, we'll update as soon as we get any new information.
ReplyDeleteIt was one of my sources at Fox as I explained in the Post.
ReplyDeleteGotta love the kitties :)
ReplyDeleteDid you read the post?
ReplyDeleteha lol
ReplyDeleteYep, really hope this turns out true. Trying to get someone else to
ReplyDeleteconfirm/deny. Will update when I know more.
Also, they need a 4th Season to get Syndication.
ReplyDeleteShut the front door! Someone's lost their mind!
ReplyDeleteAnna Torv is GORGEOUS, mind you.

heh heh...you said moron (more on)
ReplyDeleteyeah! what you said! @ Smidnite
ReplyDeleteHoly balls indeed! If Fox could really support Fringe and renew this soon, I'd forgive them for their political BS.
ReplyDeletenow that's the kind of dedication we need around here...wait... what?
ReplyDeleteI agree- I wish it were true- but it doesn't make sense when they have a HUGE HUGE move ahead of them.
ReplyDeleteHow is the search for new info going Dark? It just doesn't make sense to me why they'd announce it this early- especially before a Friday move! But I hope its true. Any luck?
ReplyDeletePlease be true, would be a fantastic x-mas present. Seems early for this.
ReplyDeleteDon't break my heart! *Fingers crossed*

ReplyDeleteSadly, Boss speaks the truth.
ReplyDeleteWell, Beavis, they are the home of "American Idiot" Idol
ReplyDeleteI bet you and Butthead just love it! ;)
Beavis and Butthead are coming back next year! That's why I'm rocking the Cornholio avatar.
ReplyDeleteYAY Dark!!! I hope your sources are correct. You always had the most legit Lost info. ReplyDeleteDark, if you had to make a prediction, when would Fox announce it? Are we looking at Christmas? February? March? etc. How soon is "soon"?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean? You think you misunderstood your source?
ReplyDeleteOh well let us know as soon as you do. Fringe's renewal would be quite an awesome Christmas present.
ReplyDeleteAny news on this? Im just getting into it again after watching the first few episodes like months ago.
ReplyDeleteTHAT WOULD BE FRACKIN FANTASTIC!!!
ReplyDeleteHa, yes, I remember those days :) Good times ;)
ReplyDeleteNo idea I'm afraid
ReplyDeleteI've really no idea. I'm beginning to think that the new promo is
ReplyDeletemaybe what my source meant.
I don't know, maybe he misunderstood. I'll try to find out.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly would :)
ReplyDeleteJust ran across this but see it's a month old. Anything new to report?
ReplyDelete
