When Lesley Ann Warren returns to Desperate Housewives for the first time in six years as Susan's spacey mom, Sophie, she'll be bringing along her sister, Claire, played by Rhoda Morgenstern herself, Valerie Harper! Housewives executive producer Bob Daily tells me Aunt Claire, who likes her booze, will come visit niece Susan (Teri Hatcher) in the hospital after she sustains injuries in a dangerous neighborhood riot that will close out 2010. Look for Valerie, 71, to appear in the second new episode of 2011.
Where's Sophie's husband, Morty (Bob Newhart), you may ask? He's fine -- just off camera this time around. With Newhart, Harper and Carol Burnett having all passed through Wisteria Lane, are there any other TV comedy legends out there you'd like to see visit Fairview?

This is very exciting! :) I've missed Sophie, Lesley Ann Warren was great in those first two seasons' guest appearances. Too bad Morty isn't coming back... Bob Newhart is guest starring in another show, right? So why not this one?
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda loving this too! As weird as it may sound, I loved watching old Rhoda reruns on Nick at Nite when I was a kid and it will be so much fun seeing her on Desperate Housewives hahaha
