________
-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC led this final Monday of the November sweeps in the overnights (yes…it is the November sweeps!), with a hefty 39 percent advantage over second-place CBS. But all was not rosy in alphabet network land thanks to series-premiere of Skating with the Stars. A 70-minute edition of Dancing with the Stars kicked-off the night for ABC with a stellar (and very dominant) 16.0 rating/24 share in the 8 p.m. hour (with a 17.0/24 for the extended 10 minutes from 9-9:10 p.m.). Despite the hefty lead-in support, Skating with the Stars could only muster an approximate 7.0/11 from 9:10-11 p.m., dipping by half-hour as follows:
Skating with the Stars (ABC) – series premiere
9:00 p.m.: 10.1/15 (#1): from 9:10-9:30 p.m.
9:30 p.m.: 7.6/11 (#2)
10:00 p.m.: 5.8/ 9 (#2)
10:30 p.m.: 4.6/ 8 (#2)
Considering Skating with the Stars lost more than half the audience from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., this is an initial “losing” performance. Without the lead-in support of Dancing with the Stars next week, Skating with the Stars is expected to collapse in the 8-9:30 p.m. block.
As for Dancing with the Stars, go Jennifer Grey!
CBS had nothing unusual to report with its Monday combination of How I Met Your Mother (#2: 5.8/ 9), which always scores demographically, Rules of Engagement (#3: 5.0/ 7), which is unlikely to survive past this season, standout Two and a Half Men (#1: 9.5/14), respectable Mike & Molly (#1: 8.2/12) and Hawaii Five-O (#1: 8.5/14), which was on par from year-ago occupant CSI: Miami. Retention for Mr. TV favorite Mike & Molly out of Two and a Half Men was an improved 86 percent.
Over at Fox was demo friendly House (#2: 6.4/ 9) and 9 p.m. time period filler Lie to Me (#3: 4.1/ 6), which were both on par in the overnights from one year earlier. But NBC remained out of the competitive loop with its line-up of Chuck (#4: 3.3/ 5), which should not be anchoring the evening, and freshman entries The Event (#4: 3.7/ 6) and Chase (#3: 3.5/ 6).
As a reminder, upcoming NBC scripted dramas The Cape and Harry’s Law will inherit the Monday 9-11 p.m. block effective on Monday, Jan. 17. Previewing on Sunday, Jan. 9, The Cape stars David Lyons as a cop framed for murder who tries to clear his name by taking on the persona of his son’s (Ryan Wynott) favorite superhero. Harry’s Law from executive producer David E. Kelly is an ensemble legal drama about a crusty unemployed patent lawyer (Kathy Bates) who unexpectedly partners in a law practice with a young man (Ben Chaplin) trying to figure out life. The Event returns on Monday, Feb. 28 (with a two-hour broadcast), followed by relocated Parenthood at 10 p.m. effective on March 7. Chase will move to Wednesday at 9 p.m. beginning on Jan. 12 into Law & Order: SVU, which shifts back one hour.
Capping off the evening were repeats of 90210 (#5: 0.8/ 1) and Gossip Girl (#5: 0.7/ 1) on The CW.

The Event is shafted. Nothing more to it.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty much following Flashforward hand in hand to doom :P
In fact, I just checked and Flashforward was doing better than The Event is!
ReplyDeleteThe Event Pilot: 11.19
Flashforward Pilot: 12.47
The Event Episode Three: 7.56
Flashforward Episode Three: 9.05
The Event Episode Six: 5.97
Flashforward Episode Six: 8.97
The Event Episode Nine: 5.2
Flashforward Episode Nine: 7.98
It's just not going to survive in my opinion
Yeah but you do have to realize that there is a bit of a difference. Flashforward was on ABC...home of shows like Dancing With The Stars (That rules Mondays) and Grey's Anatomy...amung many others.
ReplyDeleteThe Event is on NBC...
NBC is more likely to welcome lower numbers, like that than ABC is. Now I fully believe that The Event will not survive past one season, but I do believe that it will survive till the end of the season.
I cannot believe that Chuck received it's lowest numbers of the season last night! Last night's episode was by far the best one this season, and the promo for the episode was beyond epic itself.
ReplyDeleteSo upset about Chuck :(
ReplyDeleteChuck's numbers was down because of DWTS finale, it will go up next week with reruns of House and HIMYM.
ReplyDeleteIf The Cape does better than The Event in january, there is a chance that The Event won't come back in March...maybe.
ReplyDeleteI KNOW!!!? SERIOUSLY WTF! Last nights episode was so BAD ASS!! I agree that it WAS the best!
ReplyDeleteYep, it's like a carbon copy of FF :(
ReplyDeleteI think the days of these non-procedural shows is numbered
unfortunatly. Lost may have been the last great one that we will see.
E
Holy crap, you're right. Bye Bye Event.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that is what the Event is... Cancellation.
It will be interesting to see the ratings and what NBC decide to do. I
ReplyDeletewonder if they may even move The Event to another night/timeslot.
