  1. Harry Potter most likely drew some of the Smallville and Supernatural audence to the theaters.Funny how
Meduem Is almost certainly cancled and CSI:NY Is In danger yet win both their timeslots.CBS has such
    high standards.

If Supernatural comes back next season still on friday It could face trouble without smallville as lead in.And
I think fringe could be the loser VS Supernatural

  2. CBS has cancelled Medium now... It's a shame as they have the highest ratings of the season the week they cancel it! Arghh

    Oh dear, Supernatural has dropped.
And, I'm soooo glad Blue Bloods is doing well because I love it!!

  3. Why have Supernaturals ratings suddenly shot down? :(

  4. wow, has Supernatural ever been below 0.9??

  5. OH C'MON! This ep was good. My guess is that in Jan it will be up :S. But any way SPN beats some other cw shows that arnt on friday so FU if it gets canceled

  6. Supernatural needs to be back on Thursday nights. People are seeing movies on Fridays. Only good side with Supernatural is people love to see it online. I just pray they move it to another time.

  7. SN also wasn't aired in all markets last night due to some of the CW affiliates airing a basketball game.

  8. I can honestly say I do not know what all the rating numbers mean but do they not take in account the areas that end up missing the show on the acutal night and then have to see it on another night. That would only seem fair so you can see how many viewers actually did see an episode even if it was on another night.

  9. Don't panic about the low SPN ratings these last two weeks. Preemptions for basketball and local sports have been plenty and it's holding it's own despite losing major markets. It'll bounce back up as soon as the sports are done.

  10. It seems to be pretty steady with the Live +7 numbers. My guess is that this is because of pre-emps.

  11. Supernatural has continued decline where as Smallville has maintained. Both programs have been preempted. The fall in Supernatural's ratings is an actual fall off of people no longer watching. Where as the show was holding onto a considerable amount of the audience from Smallville, as the season's progressed, its started losing close to a third of that audience. For the entirety of last season, Supernatural outperformed Smallville. This season, it isn't doing as well. Even with the DVR numbers, its tapered off precipitously.

In short, the ratings are plummeting. Never before in the show's history have fans been so up in arms over the creative decisions made by the writers. Normally, you have the few who will bitch about anything. Now, you have at minimum half of the responses harshly castigating the writers and their choices.

The exodus has escalated. I anticipated a rebound of the numbers with last night's episode, however, the decline has continued, another 100,000 viewers disappearing over the week before.

If indeed the correlation between dissension over the direction of the season and the ratings decline is accurate, and it is at present the only working theory, Warner Brothers and CW have something to worry about.

However, the most attractive demographic seems to be declining at a slower rate. At this point, a seventh season is all but assured. The litmus test will come after winter hiatus. If the fans stay away, this could be it for Supernatural.

  12. No, they weren't. In Chicago, Smallville aired. Supernatural was pre-empted.

  13. I didn't know this. Thank you, really! :)

  14. I think the Friday night time slot hurts the show. The demographic that it draws is usually out and about then. There's also a lot going on right now, with sports and other things.

Friday night's episode was great! I laughed through the entire thing. Jared and Jensen were wonderful. I miss the old Sam and can't wait for his return, but the boyish soul-less Sam and the big brother protector Dean are hilarious.

  15. Though Supernatural's ratings are down b/c of fridays, they still do better than shows like 90210 and Gossip Girl, shows that are on a prime night at prime times

  16. Same thing in my daughter's market (which is only 2 hours from me). Smallville aired then SPN was preempted for HS football. So Smallville numbers are pretty steady, but SPN does come back in the DVR levels. It sucks, but not exactly time to ring the bells of doom.

i agree considering it drew me away from them. Also Supernatural was pre-empted for me in chicago.

  18. I hate the CW, how they put one of the best episode of this season the same day of the premiere of Harry Potter???? They have already a calendar with repeats, this Friday we have a repeat of Exile on Main ST, why they don't change the dates, WHY????? CW don't care our show, the problem of Supernatural is not if this 6 season is bad or good, the problem of Supernatural is THE CW, a lot of idiots who don't appreciate the best show they have, even better than TVD, sorry for the fans of this show, but I'm sick of vampire storys every where I go, books, movies, show's....nothing original but CW make a calendar with repeats of this show in all the week. Even in Fridays SPN have better rating that other show's in better days, SV have better rating and is the last season....CW is the worst Network, I hate them, if SPN don't have the merits that deserve is because of they

  19. So, in the Friday ratings finals, SPN lost a few -- down to 1.95 mil in viewers, but held steady at .9 in the 18-49 demo and did the same as Smallville in the 18-32 and Women's demos. With only 92% of the nation showing it, it pulled in good numbers (better than most other shows on the CW) with less coverage. So, please don't listen to the harbingers of doom who believe the show is falling due to the plot or mythology or fan dis-satisfaction. The numbers just don't support that. It's doing fine and will undoubtedly go back up in the ratings when it's not preempted in 3% of the national markets.

  20. You always make me feel better. Thanks for your rational look at the numbers and for keeping our spirits high.

  21. Supernatural ratings should go back up after this whole Harry Potter/holiday season calms down. I hope.

  22. My pleasure, Dahne. I check another SPN site often (less and less now that I've found this one!) and get tired of the negative posters there that use the lower (pre-empted) ratings to justify their own dislike of the current mythology. The numbers just don't support that and it makes other fans who don't really follow ratings worried about the future of the show. I just want everyone to relax and realize fans are not abandoning it in droves, no matter what a few disgruntled posters want to make you think.

  23. I don't follow ratings - so much of it means very little to me (especially since I'm not even in the US) but I do worry when I see SPN at the bottom of a table like this.

So I just want to echo what Dahne said. Thanks Sue for your positive, encouraging words. It means a lot to those of us who are loyal, enthusiastic fans. :)

  24. All the negativity does get depressing. My biggest concern is that the most vocal naysayers will start a chain reaction of casual watchers dropping out. You're right when you say that the low numbers might start a panic that are not justified and that leads to self-fulfilling prophecy. (Does that even make sense?) I'm just happy to know the balanced viewpoint so I don't have to worry about SPN's fate. Thanks again!

  25. We're always toughest on the shows we like the most. It's not big deal, like some people would lead you to believe, and the ratings are fine.
