I'm struggling between three days : sunday, monday and thursday.
1- Sunday has awesome shows : The Walking Dead, Eastbound and Down, Bored to Death, Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, Family Guy, American Dad, and there also was Rubicon the last three months. That makes sunday nights a great competitor.
2- But mondays are great too : In Treatment, The Big C, Chuck and The Event (I also watch HIMYM and Hawaii Five-0).
3- And thursday is the best night when it comes to comedy : Community, The Office, 30 Rock, The League, Outsourced (which is quite great after all) and The Big Bang Theory. There's also the best drama on a network (Fringe) and two quite good shows (The Vampire Diaries and Nikita).
It won't vote for tuesday night, because even if Raising Hope and Sons of Anarchy are trully great, Running Wilde is disappointing so far, No Ordinary Family is not as good as I expected and Caprica was taken off the air. I won't vote for wednesdays either, even if there's Friday Night Lights, Modern Family, The Middle and Blue Mountain State.
And I won't vote for friday or saturday, given thaht I don't watch any show airing on those nights (in the next few weeks/months, I plan on watching Blue Bloods and Supernatural though).
All in all I'm going to vote for sunday night, even if I also want to vote thursday and then monday.
Oh, I know that The Shield has been over for a few years and that 24 is been over for a year but I can't deny that Mondays and Tuesdays will never be the same again...
Tuesday: Life Unexpected, The Good Wife Thursday: Vampire Diaries, Community and Fringe Friday: Smallville, Medium, Supernatural, The Soup Sunday: (Rubicon, Mad Men), Dexter, The Walking Dead
Thursday is a close second, but I went with Friday just for SPN. :)
Monday - Chuck, Gossip Girl Tuesday - NCIS, NCIS:LA, Glee Thursday - Grey's Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, The Vampire Diaries, Nikita Friday - Supernatural
I'm a bigbigbig, Supernatural fan... but sometimes 40mins is just not enough which Thursday TV is just pure entertainment, although bad for you when there's something I actually have to do. And i do love Chuck and Gossip Girl heaps as well. WHICH ONE?!?!
I just won't tell what i voted (very painfully) for xP
The only show I care about at all is "Fringe". I used to watch "CSI" religiously, but I think Petersen & partner's influence on the writing is missed far more than his role. I can barely sit through one now. In the meantime, "Fringe", which I watched lackadaisically through half of S2 because the pseudoscience was so preposterous, hooked me solidly in mid-spring with strengthened writing, fantastic continuity and beautiful relationships.
I picked Friday because it has the best genre line-up for me: Smallville, Supernatural & Sanctuary but I could have easily picked Wed or Thurs. Or any other day of the week! I love me some TV. Sun: Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Family Guy, Walking Dead Mon: Chuck, Castle, Hawaii 50 Tues: Glee, Raising Hope, No Ordinary Family Wed: The Middle, Better With You, Modern Family, Cougar Town, South Park, Hellcats Thurs: Big Bang Theory, Shit My Dad Says, Vampire Diaries, Bones Fringe
Sunday : Lost Girl & The Walking Dead Monday : Gossip Girl , The Event , Weeds ,Mike & Molly and Lie to Me Wednesday : Being Erica and Cougar Town Thursday : Vampire Diaries & Nikita Monday i watch the most shows but Vampire Diaries and Lost Girl are the shows i obsess about the most right now.
It used to be Thursday when I went from Burn Notice to Supernatural back to back. Now I pick Friday simply because I would hate to miss Supernatural even more than Burn Notice. They are the only appointment TV I have. Everything else can be caught up on other days.
Oh, we are supposed to talk about our countries' schedules too? Then my fav night is friday (NCIS in english, NCIS in portuguese, then McGyver reruns and in Plain Sight) or Wednesday (Law and Order:UK, NCIS:LA, Numb3rs [yes, we are 2 seasons late, what a shame] and MacGyver and NCIS reruns in portuguese. I wish I had more time to watch TV, cause lately I watch less than 1/4 of all the shows I enjoy. =/
I wish CSI:NY was not on at the same time as Supernatural, It is my other favorite show and I cant watch both! I like Friday night the best tho, I watch Supernatural then skip over to Syfy channel to watch Sanctuary.
Yes, I think you left out one really big one: Fringe. :)
It's really not a question for me: I watch a couple of different shows, but Fringe is the only "must see" show that I watch, so without hesitation, Thursday is my favorite TV night. I look forward to Thursdays all week long!
Well thursday is the day most of the series I'm following airs like Nikita, Fringe, BBT, and The vampire diaries, but I chose friday because of Supernatural which is my absolute favorite of current shows! (also Sanctuary airs then)
Definitely Thursday! My 2 favorite shows, Bones and Fringe, are on Thursday. So really, no other day can compare. Plus Vampire Diaries is on but I have to watch that later. I guess my second favorite is Wednesday for Psych, then Monday for House and Castle.
Gotta go with Friday - Supernatural is my only 'can't miss' show. Drives my husband nuts, but he watches, too. :) But I try not to mss NCIS, Glee and White Collar on Tuesdays and Big Bang Theory on Thursdays.
This was hard. I picked Thursday because of sheer numbers of shows I like In order of priority
Thursday: Vampire Diaries, Big Bang Theory, Nikita, Fringe, Mentalist Next would be Friday because I love Supernatural Tuesday is Glee another can't miss Sunday has my favorite reality show Amazing Race, but not much else Monday: How I Met Your Mother is it and that is getting weaker Wednesday: I don't watch anything.
I should add other than Thursdays and Fridays my list will probably change as the cable shows come back. Closer, White Collar, Burn Notice, Leverage and maybe Covert Affairs are all on my to watch list, but some are changing times so I didn't include them
I was just planning on watching Supernatural on DVD. Supernatural is not very popular in France, only the first three seasons aired on a major channel so I have to rely on something else to watch this show... besides, I don't really like dubbed films or tv shows anymore - since I started watching everything in original version.
If we have to talk about our favourite TV night according to our countries' schedules, I would have to say that I don't have a favourite day, except tuesdays and wednesdays where there are football games (the real one, played with the feet ^^) of Champion's League or international games, and each saturday/sunday nights with the Ligue 1. I also watch talk shows but those I watch air from mondays to fridays, so thaht doesn't help to figure out which TV Night is the best.
Otherwise, all the 5 major channels in France air pretty much only procedural series on primetime : Castle, NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles, The Closer, CSI, CSI Miami, CSI Manhattan, Law & Order SVU, Grey's Anatomy, House, Desperate Housewives, Criminal Minds, Lie to Me, Bones and The Mentalist, they all air or aired at 9pm this year. Sadly for me, I'm not a fan of procedural shows, at all.
In 2010 there are/were currently only two genre shows that air(ed) on primetime : Smallville and Medium, which I don't like. And don't talk about comedies, the few that crossed over the Atlantic only air in the afternoon at 6pm for instance (30 Rock and Two and a Half Men are the only still in production sitcoms that air on major channels, with Family Guy & The Simpsons).
There are several great american tv shows such as Fringe, Sons of Anarchy or Californication which air on major channels but only at 11pm!
There are good shows on primetime but on cable channels such as Canal+ (which I don't have a suscribtion for) with Showtime (Dexter, Weeds, United States of Tara, Nurse Jackie, The Tudors) and FX (Damages, Philadelphia, The Shield) shows + 24, Mad Men, The Office, etc.
Breaking Bad (best show still in production in my opinion) airs at 10 on a national channel (Arte, french/german channel actually) but it's mostly a documentary channel and noone watches it^^.
All that to say I don't really have the habit to watch TV, I'm much more a Blu-ray/DVD/computer guy.
I'm in the US and I find myself watching most shows through DVD or the computer these days too. My actual favorite TV night is whenever I get time to sit down and watch a few episodes in a row. Supernatural, Burn Notice, and White Collar I watch when it airs because I don't like to wait. All others, I do on my time.
I considered Thursday, since I have 5 must watch shows that night (Big Bang, Community, Office, 30 Rock, and Its Always Sunny), but House on Monday makes Monday the winner.
It would have been Sunday while Mad Men and Rubicon were still on (and poss True Blood) but at the moment I'm loving my genre Fridays - Smallville, Supernatural and Sanctuary. Even though Smallville is boring me to tears this season.
Having said that, Boardwalk Empire and The Walking Dead are both getting my attention.
Can someone sum up Eastbound and Down for me? I hear it mentioned a lot but have no idea what it's about. Should I check it out?
Hm, in the UK it would have to be between Wednesdays and Fridays - Bones and Lie To Me on wednesdays, The Mentalist on fridays. But then there's the Vampire Diaries on Tuesdays too! too hard to choose, haha
For me is it difficult to say. I'm from Europe so I see the episodes one day later. But I'm always watching: (normal day on tv+ 1 day) - wednesday: Glee, No Ordinary Family. - thursday:Being Erica. - friday: Grey's Anatomy, Fringe, The Vampire Diaires - saturday: Smallville. If I have to choose it will probally be the day with the most shows to watch. Sometimes (mostly every 2 or 3 weeks) I watch a view episodes of Bones, Burn Notice, NCIS and Private Practice.
in australia, nothing i watch is on when it is in the us so i pretty much watch every show on the computer i'm so used to not having ad breaks now that i find it unbearable to watch live tv!
Where I live right now is about the same. A 40 minute episode would have about 15-20 minutes of commercial breaks while shows like two and a half men or friends would have 5-10 minutes of commercial breaks.
But I don't get new episodes from where I live, so I have to download it off utorrent or watch it online so there is really no issues with commercial breaks for me and I know that loads of people outside the US do the the same thing.
A tie between Mondays (Chuck, HIMYM, Gossip Girl, Mike&Molly, 90210) and Thursdays (Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Big Bang Theory, Nikita)...
So what is this Sanctuary you all speak of? What is ti about? Can you watch mid-season? And how did I not know about a genre show people are this psyched about?
Yeah, that's the positive part. But it still isn't nice to see reruns for the 100th time, as they keep repeating the fourth season our of order as if there is nothing else to show anymore. We were already on season four when the show was cancelled in the US, and it was quite a while back.
Sunday Night Football, Hawaii Five-0 (and Monday Night Football when the show is not on), White Collar (when it comes back in January), Supernatural (of course). I don't have a regular favorite night of TV because now there are many choices than before!
I wanted to know something (this question is adressed to everyone) : how much advertising is there per episode on television in your country? I know there's 16 minutes (4/5 commercial breaks) of ads in an episode in the US but it might be different elsewhere, and that can change our habits (that and the messages that pop up on the screen while the episode is rolling, NBC and the CW made that their trademark, it can be annoying sometimes).
In France it's just one commercial break of 4-5 minutes per episode (even with original series) with no annoying ads on the screen while the episode is rolling so that's not the problem, it's not too much ads (the problem is more the dubbing and the fact that I don't like the kind of shows that airs on primetime on the major channels).
Tough to pick what with my love for Chuck on Mon. But, it was between Wed.(Better With You, Modern Family, Survivor, and Psych) and Thurs. (because Bones is probably my favorite show). But I picked Wed.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Definitely Sunday.
ReplyDeleteDexter, Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, Eastbound & Down and Family Guy :D
Sunday totally kicked buttock when it had Rubicon and Mad Men but it's still my favourite night thanks to Dexter and The Walking Dead.
ReplyDeleteFriday is runner up - Supernatural, Real Time.
Thursday for sure! Community, Office, 30 Rock, Parks & Rec, Vampire Diaries and Grey's Anatomy.
ReplyDeleteMonday=Chuck
ReplyDeleteFriday=Supernatural
Can't choose :/
I'm struggling between three days : sunday, monday and thursday.

Thursday! The Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Bones and The Big Bang Theory. :)
ReplyDeleteGlee and One tree Hill and Grey's anatomy and Private practice, can it get any better ? ;)
ReplyDeleteTuesday - NCIS, NCISLA & Glee
ReplyDeleteWednesday - Criminal Minds
Friday - Medium, Supernatural & Blue Bloods
Hard to choose but I went with Tuesday :)

ReplyDeletealthough in australia its really on saturday
It used to be both Mondays and Tuesdays because of 24 and The Shield. But not sure of what it is now!
ReplyDeleteOh, I know that The Shield has been over for a few years and that 24 is been over for a year but I can't deny that Mondays and Tuesdays will never be the same again...
ReplyDeleteI chose Friday for SN, but I love NCIS and NCIS:LA and Criminal Minds and Bones. Oh and can't forget Hawaii Five-0.

Thursday is a close second, but I went with Friday just for SPN. :)
AUSTRALIA FTW.
ReplyDeleteFriday for Supernatural even if it's only one show and I die on thursday for watching to much tv hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI like those days as well, just for different reasons.
ReplyDeleteMonday: Chuck, HIMYM, House (not as much this year), and Castle.
Tuesday: NCIS, NCIS: LA, and Stargate Universe
So much on I have to DVR. Monday 8PM EST is packed for me!
Friday = Supernatural
ReplyDeleteThere is really no competition there.
TT.TT this is just nasty.
ReplyDeleteMonday - Chuck, Gossip Girl
Tuesday - NCIS, NCIS:LA, Glee
Thursday - Grey's Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, The Vampire Diaries, Nikita
Friday - Supernatural
I'm a bigbigbig, Supernatural fan... but sometimes 40mins is just not enough which Thursday TV is just pure entertainment, although bad for you when there's something I actually have to do. And i do love Chuck and Gossip Girl heaps as well. WHICH ONE?!?!

ReplyDeleteThursday all the way !!

This was hard. I picked Thursday because of sheer numbers of shows I like
ReplyDeleteIn order of priority
Thursday: Vampire Diaries, Big Bang Theory, Nikita, Fringe, Mentalist

ReplyDeleteI think you are lucky to be 2 seasons late on Numb3rs. That mean you still get to see it on TV. So sad it was cancelled.

ReplyDeleteThursday. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteFriday's! Because of Supernatural and Smallville!
ReplyDeleteI had to put Friday. The three S's of Smallville, Supernatural and Sanctuary have my heart.
ReplyDeleteAnd then I only watch Glee. And occasionally Nikita but I'm going to start watching TNA and RAW so now Monday and Thursday I have something to do o.o
thursday: greys, private practice and bones
ReplyDeleteThursday! Even though i'm outside USA, i have to tune in via live stream to catch Fringe!
ReplyDeleteFor me is it difficult to say. I'm from Europe so I see the episodes one day later. But I'm always watching: (normal day on tv+ 1 day)
ReplyDelete- wednesday: Glee, No Ordinary Family.
- thursday:Being Erica.
- friday: Grey's Anatomy, Fringe, The Vampire Diaires
- saturday: Smallville.
If I have to choose it will probally be the day with the most shows to watch.
Sometimes (mostly every 2 or 3 weeks) I watch a view episodes of Bones, Burn Notice, NCIS and Private Practice.
I voted Tuesday because of NCIS and NCIS:LA. I do like watching Bones on Thursday but it's Tuesday night that I look forward to the most.
ReplyDeleteFriday!! Smallville and Supernatural!!!!
ReplyDeleteTuesday for TGW. I was between that and Sunday. But right now I'm not really watching many Sunday shows, so...
ReplyDeletein australia, nothing i watch is on when it is in the us so i pretty much watch every show on the computer
ReplyDeletei'm so used to not having ad breaks now that i find it unbearable to watch live tv!
1. THURSDAY - Fringe, Community, 30 Rock, Mentalist, Grey's , Private Practice
ReplyDelete2. MONDAY - Castle, Chuck, House, The Big C, Weeds
-> It has to be Thursday because I love Fringe too much, but Monday actually has 3 other top shows.
Where I live right now is about the same. A 40 minute episode would have about 15-20 minutes of commercial breaks while shows like two and a half men or friends would have 5-10 minutes of commercial breaks.

ReplyDeleteCSI Manhattan?!
ReplyDeleteSome shows I'm still able o watch on tv, but only because I haven't seen them on the computer! It is addictive! :D
ReplyDeleteSo what is this Sanctuary you all speak of? What is ti about? Can you watch mid-season? And how did I not know about a genre show people are this psyched about?

ReplyDeleteWhat's my favorite tv night? Well let me see ........

Tuesday: NCIS, NCIS: LA and Glee
ReplyDeleteThursday: Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice
Sunday: Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters
I went with Thursday because I have been watching that longer but NCIS is definitely my favorite now!
That was like the hardest decision ever. LOL!
ReplyDeleteMonday: House, Gossip Girl, & Castle
Tuesday: Glee
Thursday: Bones & Grey's Anatomy
Those are my main tv watching nights and I picked Monday, because I'm obsessed with Gossip Girl & Castle at the moment. ^_^
thursday
ReplyDeleteThe Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy & Private Practice
Sunday Night Football, Hawaii Five-0 (and Monday Night Football when the show is not on), White Collar (when it comes back in January), Supernatural (of course). I don't have a regular favorite night of TV because now there are many choices than before!
ReplyDeleteBored to Death as well!
ReplyDeleteYes! Real Time is great.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to know something (this question is adressed to everyone) : how much advertising is there per episode on television in your country? Thursday it is!
ReplyDeleteBones, Fringe and Grey's Anatomy all together !
I want a check box version fo this poll. One night is simply not sufficient to note my favorite nite of television.
ReplyDeleteDaaaaamn.
ReplyDeleteMonday = Gossip Girl, The Buried Life, HIMYM
Tuesday = Glee
Wednesday = Modern Family, Hellcats
Thursday = VAMPIRE DIARIES
Friday = SUPERNATURAL
So, I'm totally torn between Thursday and Friday. I'm a HUUUUUUGE Supernatural fan but I'm also a HUUUUUGE Vamp Diaries fan. :$
Tough to pick what with my love for Chuck on Mon. But, it was between Wed.(Better With You, Modern Family, Survivor, and Psych) and Thurs. (because Bones is probably my favorite show). But I picked Wed.
ReplyDeleteCHUCK ON MONDAYS OF COURSE ! CHUCKGASMS :D
ReplyDelete
