The best part about this episode for me was less zombies! I think this show does best when it concentrates on the characters and storyline. Zombie attacks and zombie make-up has been done before and maybe at a higher level even. The part that sets this series apart from the other zombie movies out there is the writing. The strength and dimensions of the characters. If I want mindless zombie attacks I can rent scores of DVDs, but if I want writing and cinematography this powerful I can only find it on this show... atleast as far as zombie media is concerned.
The tricky thing is finding the right balance. Because let's be honest - zombies are cool. At least I like them and also enjoy watching those mindless zombie flicks. But that only works for a 2 hour movie and not a TV show. Every show needs a certain amount of action and the zombies deliver that. But you also need great characaters, well thought-out storylines and drama to make it work. And this is where The Walking Dead succeeded so far.
The episode was good, but not awesome. Also felt sorry for Jim, started to find him interesting. I'm kind of glad this other guy (can't remember his name) and his family left, didn't care for them. Apart from that I like Daryl. He has some extreme opinions I don't support, but also some realistic ones. Plus he's played by Norman Reedus.
This episode was good. The thing I like is the relationship change of Rick and Shane because it is slowly being torn apart. Shane might of taken a hold of the leadership at the end but Rick was the one that was right about someone being in the CDC. Next weeks episode looks amazing, things seem to get intense between Shane and Rick again and everyone seems to be acting nuts. Best character that I like is Daryl he's awesome
You have good foresight. It's an amazing episode. I found the ending to be very Lost-like. Had that same 'Deus Ex Machina' / 'Lockdown' vibe to it. Can't wait for next weeks season finale.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Poor Jim.. felt bad for him!
ReplyDeleteMan, the guy who played him too.. bad luck on TV shows.. first I feel bad for him on Supernatural, now The Walking Dead... lol
I knew I recognized him. Who was he on SPN?
