I guess I don't watch the show to see the guest stars sing all the time. Way too much Gweneth Paltrow and not enough of everyone else. Rather disappointing.
Another great episode. Who knew Mrs Chris Martin could sing? Maybe coldplay can use her on their next CD. Killed me to think of a Spanish teacher (a sub too) that teaches Spanish by asking how many times LiLo has been to rehab!! She is the substitute we all dreamed of. Plus let's face it... anymore that makes Rachel mad has to be good since Rachel is evil! Another episode of Kurt being a dick to people, but yet he is lovable to some. We had a lot more Sue in this ep.... always a good thing. Mike dancing with Will was fun, as were the repeatedly Shuster comments about needing a new Journey song for Glee Club! A timely episode too being about schools banning fatty foods.I am Spartatots!
Not the best of episodes but the storylines were great, especially the banning fatty foods section, because that is rarely discuss in TV shows/films. I was suprised to see Will give in so easily to Terri but it was nice to see her back on the screen for more than a couple of minutes.
i thought the mike chang / mr. schue dance number was rather unnecessary. the umbrella/singin in the rain sounded awkward together. not because of the generation gap, but it just sounded weird and contrived.
but holly holiday as a character is soooo awesome. makes me wonder how she teaches other subjects when she subs for them.
they're really trying hard for us to relate and sympathize with terri. and with sue as principal, im guessing terri would become the new cheerleading coach. that brings her more into the fold.
Making Sue the principal this early in the series seems like a stunt (and I don't think it will last) that will just backfire. Sue is fun as an foil for Will but to give her THAT much power now makes her an insane super villain. Reigning her in gives her a struggle for power and that is much more interesting. As for the rest of the show, I hated the fact that Matt shaved his chest for the Details cover shoot he did. He looked amazingly masculine and beautiful in his "Rocky Horror" scenes just a couple of weeks ago and now he just looks generic. (Sorry, there just isn't a better term I could think of.) How is "Nowadays" a more modern and danceable number, Rachel? It's older than Will's choices. Ok, it's flashier but it was totally out of place for this episode. The CeeLo number was fun in showing the kids letting loose, "Make 'Em Laugh" was not a good choice ("Good Morning" might have been a better number although the whole "Singin' in the Rain" theme felt shoe horned in just to use both songs) and "Singin' In the Rain/Umbrella", as a mash-up, was a weird sounding combination but not any worse than past mash-ups on the show. All in all, this was a weak point in the series. I did like Gwyneth but the best line award for the evening had to go to Kurt: "Oh my God! Look. I just open my mouth and a little purse falls out!" Hysterical!
Didn't really care for it, too much Paltrow, but it was nice to see Mercedes get some screen time. and the Adventures of Kurt Hummel theme is getting old, with the exception of Rocky Horror he is overfeatured in every episode, and other charcters are getting screwed because of it. The best part was when Rachel tried to take over and Santana went after her. Rachel is funniest when she gets cocky and obnoxious, and Satana is funniest when she is angry and trying to fight someone.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Sucked
