It was ok, pretty predictable. I didn't see the rocket turning into what it did. I guess "The Event" is going to be a sort of "V" attack by their planet. This show could definitely have the "24" feel to it. I can't pinpoint it, but there is just something missing for me. I will continue watching and am pretty much hooked. I just think they need to step it up a notch when it returns.
no more "3 days ago" or "20 years ago" coz "events" happen in REAL TIME ... and in 24 hours, jack bauer will find out what The Event is, who works for The Event and who's being targetted by said Event
I guess they really are aliens. Funny, I've been holding against that ever since it was first suggested.
Not really surprised Buchanan is one of them, it was pretty obvious either Shawn or Leila or someone connected to them or some combination thereof would be.
I could not disagree more! JAck and 24 were good for what they were... an adreniline fille d action series. The Event is not that an dshould not feel liek that in my mind. The formulaic appraoch 24 took each season was old 3 or 4 years ago. Start with a terroist event, learn whats behind it and have the first event for Jack to stop... mid way thru the season solve event 1 and find out it leads to event 2. Then find out how the two relate all the while blowing things up. The event is not that type of show at all. While it is definately not the new LOST (in my mind a good thing), it is more of a mysteriy or suspense show than action.
I think they revealed a lot of nuggets about the show in this episode. We still do not know what the event is, or who the 97 vistiors are exactly, but the first half of the season has peeled back many layers as to motives, who is involved, how far their reach is and their capabilities. I think that The Event is better than many naysayers have said, but I agree with many on here that think it is just missing something. Maybe it is the WHAT THE F@#$% moments? Lost had so many of these that blew minds that even despite my attepmts at not comparing the two shows, The Event seems tame or predictable by comparison. Maybe it is the dialog that comes off as community theatre at times (no offense meant to community theatres)? Or maybe it's just the inability to pull the audience in COMPLETELY. I have watched every episode and enjoy the show, but I still do not look forward with anticipation every week. Atleast not that urgent sense of needding to know what happens next or what just happened like I have for other series. Overall a good to great episode since it connected some dots and avoided answering everything, but I am still not sure I will be eagerly waiting for the winter restart or reboot.
I think you just hit the nail on the head for it with me. The dialogue was absolutely terrible last night - particularly with Sean and Leila. I don't know if they are just horrible actors or if it's the writing, but it comes off terribly. As for the shock of what's around the corner with the episodes...I think there is still a lot to find out about the different aspects of this show. There might be a few What the F@#! moments still to come.
I agree with you and IMO the two factors missing from this show are.... soundtrack is not memorable at all and there is no charisma with the acting which is so-so to begin with. I don't eagerly await each episode but rather watch it on demand when in the mood...... yea, don't want to compare to "Lost" but I would count the minutes until the next episode or season for that matter.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
That was great.Damn NBC for making me wait till March to find out what will happen next.
ReplyDeleteI never saw that with Leila coming.
And It looks like Thomas Is try to get more of their people to arrive.
