  1. First, I will apologize to Chuck fans who I know will not like my comments. I preface this with the fact I am a huge Chuck Fan who has watched seasons 1-3 multiple times and love the show.

Sorry, but this was my least favorite episode of any season. It felt thrown together, the whole thing was choppy; they had too many characters with 0 character development. Casey and Sarah were relegated to background. I think that Momma B was underutilized. Morgan was an afterthought they came back to at the end. Pile that on top of the fact this episode did more to damage any credibility that Chuck is a "Spy" without the intersect. It was extremely anti-climatic on how got the intersect back. I would classify this as "Jumping the Shark" episode of Chuck.

The only saving grace for me was that T. Dalton was funny in his role, other than that; I was disappointed with the rest.

I that last week’s episode was great and I realize my opinion may be harsh I just hope they do better for the remaining 14 shows left.

  2. I agree wholeheartedly and I'm a total Chuck fanatic... this was not... I just didn't like it all that much.

  3. I think this is the 2nd episode that they paid homage to Die Hard. Loved Morgan's failed attempt to save the day. The bleeding feet, the gun taped to his back (that he couldn't pull once taped there), and the signature phrase, "Yippee-Ki-Yay....." you know the rest.

Its going to be feel like forever till we get new episodes.

  4. While this episode may not have been the best this season, I think that it was very well thought out. I think that Papa B left that computer to Ellie for a reason, and not just so that Chuck could get the intersect back. I mean, if you think about it, both Ellie and Chuck would have been needed to use it, so I think that he left it for Ellie as a way to show her that Chuck need's to be a spy, that it's what he's meant to do.

I mean I can honestly say that I was hoping that when Volkoff was pointing the gun at Sarah that it would cause Chuck to flash, but I am excited that he finally got the intersect back.

While Casey was thrown into the background for this episode (which will happen from time to time...it's an hour long show with a lot of very well developed characters. Not all of them can be used every episode.), I feel that the way they used Sarah, after coming off her amazing episode the previous week was fairly regular, and as I said while watching the episode, while it didn't have the same momentuem as last weeks (which is not something that we should expect every week otherwise the show will end rather quickly), I thought that it picked up on a lot of great issues, and showed what the show is known for most...Chuck and his family.

I don't in any way see how Momma B was underutilized. You learned ALOT about her character in this episode...one of which is that Volkoff is in love with her....and you saw that even though we're still unsure of her side of things, we know one thing for sure...she loves Chuck and Ellie.

As far as Morgan goes, he was used through-out the episode, and the climax of the Volkoff-Bartowski showdown was of higher importance than Morgan attempting (and failing) to save Casey, Lester, and Jeff. Not that I don't love Morgan, cuz that little bearded man cracks me up, but I think that they tend to use him more at the end of episodes as a way to relieve the tension from the spy part of the show, and make you laugh. Remember, this is a spy show first...so action comes before and during comedy, but the action is more important.

I don't see how this damaged Chuck's "gotta be a spy" thing at all! I think it picked up nicely from where last week left off, with Beckman explaining that with or without the intersect that Chuck is still an asset, and that Sarah will love him no matter what. The beginning of the episode showed that he had accepted the loss of the intersect, and was teaching himself how to be a spy without it.

I don't see in anyway how this episode jumped the shark. This episode was no different than any other "filler" episode. It had vital information that I feel will be needed in later episodes, and it had great comedy, with some decent action and romance thrown in. It's a great mixture of all genres which is the number one reason why I fell in love with Chuck in the first place.

Believe me on this, something from tonight's episode (outside the volkoff stuff) will be used again, later on, and my bet is on Ellie finding out that he's spying again, and coming to terms with it...and I think it'll all lead back to that computer...and their father.

  5. We definitely have a difference of opinion on this, which is perfectly fine.

Casey is pretty much thrown into the background often, with the exception of the couch lock episode, you can always expect for him to get knocked out, held hostage, or hanging with the Nerd Herders. This episode was no exception.

As for Momma B, I felt she was pretty much used to fill in back story, yes we all know that she is there to protect Chuck, but I didn't feel there was much there at all. I think I was spoiled because her role in
First time the meet and "first fight" was so very well done.

I can only take Morgan in small doses, but he was locked in that closet an awful long time while Casey was being held hostage. On a side note, he has to be a very flexible guy to tape a gun to the back like he did LOL.

As for my comment concerning chuck, he was unable to defend himself, didn't cover well that the call was his sister, etc. He reminded me more of Morgan than Chuck.

    I think you summed it up pretty well on your second to last paragraph;

"This episode was no different than any other "filler" episode."

When you have guest stars of that caliber, it shouldn't have the same feeling as a "filler" episode. While I felt that T. Dalton did a great job, the ending was “blah” Kind of like they didn’t know what they wanted to do with the next episode.

Given the fact that Chuck will be off the air for the next 6 weeks or so, I was expecting more for this episode.

  6. I don't think this was the best of the season or even close. Not sure it was the worst either. Sure it was all predictable and we have seen it all before....numerous times. I did not get the rushed feeling or haphazard. It just wasn't as funny and to me the quirkiness of Chuck and Sara, and the anti-social quirks of Casey are what make the show what it is. It did flesh out some seasonal storylines in greater detail. I didn't even get the cred damage to Chuck seeing as he is still adjusting to not having it most the epsiode or in damage control once the Buy More was breeched. Tactics were never Chuck's strong suit... to say the least. Overall though I just think that this episode was mediocre- no exceptional plot reveals, no exceptionally funny moments, and just so derivative of all the spy and action movies.

  7. I was expecting more from a mid-season finale. Instead of anxiously awaiting the next episode for 4 months, I will be taking a vacation from Chuck for 4 months without really thinking about it at all. I will say I LOVED Timothy Dalton. so much fun to see a Shakespearian actor playing a snarky psychopath. Then again William had a few of those in his plays! LOL

  8. Casey being thrown to the background is what I'm starting to hate about this show. I want Badass Casey again, they need to use him better instead of treating him like a go to chew guy to abuse his character with. Something did seem off about this episode, I didn't buy Volkoff's 'love' for Ma B at all, he seemed like a control freak, not to mention abusive. >:( The ep was good just wasn't epic. Writers will you folks ever get a hint about this show? Something ain't right and I'm not really pleased with this season. :(

  9. I THINK THIS EPISODE WaS AWESOME. I LOVE CHUCK NO MATTER WHAT..HEHEHHE.. THEY'RE NOT BACKGROUNDS GUYZ. IT'S JUST, THE PRODUCERS CANT PUT THEM ALL, I MEAN USED THEM ALL IN A 42 MINUTE EPISODE BUT THEY'RE GIVEN A CHANCE ONE EPISODE AT A TIME TO SHOW OFF. So don't be disappointed guyz. i think this episode filled us with answers and twists. It was focused to Chuck 's family and volkoff and not with casey or sarah or moragan. The other characters will have their chance guyz. The Chuck story is more important and should be our focused in this episode. C'mon chucksters let's support Chuck! be awesome.! and by the way, devon did an awesome job !:))

THIS IS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT.. SO TRUE, I AGREE WITH YAH.. IF WE'LL JUST FOCUSED WITH THE CHUCK ISSUES AND IGNORING THAT BACKGROUND ISSUESL( but for me they were all used in different ways) , I THINK THE EPISODE SHOWS WHAT IT IS...AWESOME!!:))

  11. You see in nature you'll always find antagonist it's never gona be totaly perfect .In a 42 minutes show you can't pleased everyone,Zac Levi directed this episode and he did a grate job,it was a midseasons finally so we got some answer from the first 9 episodes and that's was all about,,,
I voted Awesome,,,this show is not about me or my aprehension it's a show a story about a familly ,you take it like it is,you may dislike some part of it and that's fine .

  12. i do agree with 24fan about Casey. I do get annoyed that they are not using him as much as they could. It just feels like hes their go-to guy to fill in a scene or to make an adding comment, as you say their "background". I think that they could develop his character even more or even give him better and more worthy screen time (im not saying focus everything on him". I honestly dont think they are using him right. I do understand this is a Chuck show, but i think they can have more stronger characters in it, without taking anything away from the main focus. I also think that they are doing the same with Mamma B. I honestly believe that with a stronger writing focus she could rock, instead i feel they are for some reason "hesitating" with her, and her screen time. I really feel they are holding back for some reason, with regards to action, comedy etc. I really feel they could use these "Actors" far better than what they are. However, i still love Chuck and im still a MASSIVE fan. :)

But Im honestly enjoying this season. I wouldnt say this epi was out-of-this-world, and it did seem a bit "choppy" in places and kind of "la-de-da" in others but its makes me appreciate the epi's that are out of this world, like the one before with sarah trying to get to chuck. Love it when i get some of the themes like Morgan and Die Hard. lol Did enjoy that.

But, heres to better episodes to come!! :) Seriously, counting down the days until its back on!!

  13. Well yeah, a bad episode of Chuck is still an amazing episode of anything else. I think I was stuck on BAMF Phase Three epicness!
