I have trawled through the SpoilerTV archives, and worked out all the ratings for Season One as well, to add to the previous two seasons. I do however have to sadly announce that SpoilerTV was not running the episode polls for the first THREE episodes of Fringe, so we will never know what people on the site thought of 'Pilot', 'The Same Old Story' & 'The Ghost Network.' A lament is due for not ever quite knowing the full story :P

* = Unearthed first aired out of place. It was originally a Season One Episode. This may have affected it's score.
As you can see, the most recent episode still sits atop, albeit join with 'Jacksonville' & 'Grey Matters', however 'The Abducted's' results is likely to drop a little before it's final result. Since I last checked it dropped from 9.81 to 9.73. The worst episode as voted for by SpoilerTV is 'Brown Betty', clearly the musical idea and the timing of the episode did not sit well with Fringe Fans.

ReplyDeleteyeah wonder whats the ratings for season 1 episodes. "The abducted deserves its score but I like ALL 3 seasons though
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!!! :D i haven't seen the abducted yet, but Jacksonville is the best episode of the series, it was even better than the 1st and 2nd finales :)
ReplyDeleteIt's really interesting to see the ratings with all the season 2 episodes added in. It really doesn't reflect how I would rank the episodes at all... Some episodes are up way too high (Northwest Passage was never one of my favorites, so I can't see how it could possibly be rated over What Lies Below or Amber 31422) while others are way too low (I think Olivia is one of the best episodes yet, so I can't see how it's relatively low on the list. Same goes for Olivia. In the Lab. And, contrary to popular opinion, I quite enjoyed Brown Betty).

ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, the order is a little funny. I would put White Tulip at the top. It's my all-time favourite Fringe episode!!

ReplyDeleteI completely agree re: Northwest Passage, Olivia, What Lies Below, Olivia. In The Lab. and Brown Betty! Of course, I know Brown Betty is a contentious one in fandom, but I really found Northwest Passage a bore both times I watched it, whereas Olivia has been re-watched on my DVR too many times to count.
ReplyDeleteDarthlocke: This is pretty interesting...I have to say I generally agree with the table...although I think Brown Betty should be higher on the list. I understand why people didn't quite like it, not that I didn't, but I think it gave us insight, some that is being played out now...
ReplyDeleteBut I also think "Olivia" should be higher too, but I think it's hard to say where because most of those top season 2 episodes where also really good ones.

ReplyDeleteThis updated list is just full of surprises! I would have never guessed that Safe would be ranked as the highest episode of Season 1. And it's strange to see fan favorite episodes like Bad Dreams, Ability, and The Arrival coming in so low on the list. This definitely isn't anywhere close to how I would rank all the episodes. And I have to wonder how the ranking would change if fans were to rank all the episodes now, as opposed to right after each episode aired. Maybe that's something to look into during a summer break, or after the show has ended (many seasons down the road!).
ReplyDeleteAbility is ranked relatively high. The Arrival was still around the time people were unsure exactly how much potential Fringe had. I think it's better in hindsight :P
