I really like that they're making it a straight out superhero show, complete with all the trappings... costumes, masks, freakish villains, etc. instead of the watered-down "Heroes" take that television seems to be so fond of using. I'll definitely give it a chance, especially since each view of it seems to improve.
I find it "old school" in more than one way : it looks like it will appeal to those who likes their superhero with a twinge of old-school moral rectitude . The Cape may look fusty to some readers, but if you're tired of edgy, superhero deconstructionist yarns, this could be what you want. Of course, we'll reserve judgment until next year.
Vince Faraday is The Cape's main character; but don't worry, NBC knows that Summer Glau is the only one buzz-worthy! The first and second episode introduce The Cape himself and the general story; i highly doubt Summer Glau's character will have much screen time. Be patient!
I kinda like the tone and style of the serie; it's a mix of circus old tricks, antics and old school villains. Caprica failed at mixing the fifties and the futuristic technology (though i'm a fan of the show) but i hope The Cape will succeed.
When I heard about this I thought...oh boy..they are going to have another stupid network drama, and in the end the superhero aspect of it will be total cheese. I AM HAPPY TO SAY I WAS WRONG! This looks to be a fresh, serious take by NBC on the Superhero Genre! LOOKS BADASS!
Dude, this is the comic book television series I've been waiting for! All of this teenage-drama, realism-craving, drama-oriented like "Smallville" and "Heroes" were embarrassments to the superhero genre. THIS is what needs to be going on!
This looks good and things will happen in a better way than Hero's where you have to wait 30 minutes for action and a point to the story. I hope it does well. It looks like this might be only TV show that I will watch next year.
Well we have a new clip every two days. At this rate, we will seen the entitre pilot by the end of the year ;) I'm sure another clip with Summer Glau is on the way.
well I'll besurely watching this one!! looks great, but it troubles me that all the Comic-Con reviews and feedback was bad from the folks who've seen this ( if anyone else remembers that ) ... how come? Oh and more more Summer, this woman rocks any role in any show she has :)
You had the opposite reaction at Comic-Con with The Event, people went nuts in the room. But The Event's ratings keep droping week after week, since the premiere.
Comic-Con doesn't actually count for much .We don't know the pilot version which has been shown there. I am not sure if we have objective descriptions of the reactions. Comicon is no serious test environment. I am sure that positive feedback there means nothing. Comicon means special audience. If I remember right TSCC got a very good reception on Comicon with a bad pilot and it did mean nothing. This does not mean that conventions are of no relevance. We have to wait the premiere on Sunday, January 9th January and the following Monday
Here is an interview with Thomas Wheeler, creator and executive producer of The Cape, right after the preview of the show in front of 2 000 people at Comic-Con :
Let's be honest... ComicCon gers are a niche marke.Rabidly opionated and sometimes fanatical in their lowalty to this comic, this age of a comic, this genre, or any one thing that strikes their fancy. They hardly represent the TV veiwing public as a whole. Regardless though, a bad review of a pilot that has most likely been added to, had scenes reshot and tweaked in many ways, can't be given much credence... ESPECIALLY if they loved TSCC. Ok Summer Glau was in it and she is fanboy catnip, but the series on thw whole was terrrrrrible.
Love the new pics and promo!! I am hoping for a traveling circus that knows more about the underbelly of the crime world and is fighting it behind the scenes... a modern twist on the 1920's Carnivale without the supernatural elements! Seeing more pics of the circus performers gives me hope since Carnival acts make for great TV.... assuming they have real circus/carnival acts and freak shows in the series and not just actors. Maybe I wil lget to see Daniel Browning Smith disturbing bendy body contorted or something similar... I have hope....
I was lucky enough to test screen this show back in April. It was awesome! My girlfriend and I cannot wait until it premieres and we can finally see more of it.
I'll admit it, the show seems cheesy as hell when you try and describe to someone, but trust me when I say it's good!"
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Awesome! This trailer probably made me 100% more excited for the show now!
ReplyDeleteI said previously about the 3 min trailer it was old material but this one is new . And this looks great!
ReplyDeleteThnaks for sharing !
It looks really nice, can't wait for this show.
ReplyDeleteSuit up made me think of Barney btw :f:
Freaking awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteEven though we've seen this type of training in many movies or tv shows, i like the "old school" touch and circus atmosphere
Can't wait till next year for the premiere!
ReplyDeleteDavid Lyons is in good shape (unlike Tom Welling)
Nor bad but i have the feeling something is missing.
ReplyDeleteLet me think about it...oh yes...SUMMER GLAU!!!

ReplyDeleteSorry, for some reason that quote just popped into my head when I watched this lol.
I'm definitely convinced. I'll be there for the first couple of episodes, and if they're as good as I think they'll be, the rest of the season.

ReplyDeleteCurious to see it. Some cliche's in there but then what super heroes series doesn't have something like that.
