This looks more promising than The Event ever did. However, I still think the whole normal person becomes superhero is so tired no one will watch it...
Looks good. I would watch the first episode. A comic book inspired superhero with no super powers. A circus full of crime fighting types. I have to ask. What is the target audience? NBC is really stepping up with family oriented programming.
I hope you are rwong since this series was one o 2 or 3 I was looking forward to MOST before the season started!!! I find the average man doing extraodinary things far more compelling then somebody with extraordinary abillties playing hero, but maybe it is just me...
The other "hero" genre seriews that sounded fun to me was Three Inches about a man who falls into a "superhero" organization to do good because he fins he has the ability to move things with his mind... but only 3 inches... LOL! All the other heroes have quirky rather unimpressive abilities similar to his. That to me would make for a fun and fresh take on the hero genre... maybe more snarky and comedic than action and FX.
You really think it's more promising than The Event? It looked kinda cheesy to many people. And the promoting is not near the buzz created for The Event at the time. But there is no superhero here, it's just costumes and circus foolery.
This looks intruiging enough to get my attention for at least an episode.
I have a few I'm keeping an eye on going into 2011, including the 'Friends' resurgence with 'Mr. Sunshine' and 'Episodes'.
I saw David Lyons in ER a few years back and he wasn't bad. Interesting to see if he can lead a series. He was after all part of the 'Day One' pilot that also looks intruiging yet never even made the air in any sense :P
Poor old David Lyons, it looks like he’s put in some real effort for the part but no one’s talking about him at all. Summer seems to have got on at the last minute and she’s the only one creating any real buzz.I wonder if this will be reflected in the show’s publicity drive before the launch. It is interesting that latest promo is specifically Orwell/Glau. In fact is it the first promo that promotes specifically one actor in the show?
The Cape looks amazing.. It's like batman with a bit of zorro thrown in.. It's nerdy awesome The Cape maybe unoriginal but it has something Heroes doesn't, "ACTION!"
if its about non superpowered superhero fighting bad people fine but if no one has superpowers its going to get boring, even normal people like batman and iron man have poison ivy and the mandarin its got to have something seriously gripping for it to last. ill give it a go but
Someone give Summer a show that lasts, damnit! Each time a show she is on gets canceled, she just does guest spots for a year or two before finding yet another show that gets canceled.
I'd really like to see what she can do with a character that has time to solidify.
It's so great to see Summer in more stuff! I'm excited about seeing this. The Cape is going to be an awesome show for Summer. We wish her and the entire cast the best while filming the upcoming episodes.
Its going to be fun to watch for all ages from kids to adult. :)
I’m looking forward to see Summer on a weekly basis again and hope she’ll have lots of success with The Cape. The creator of the series, Tom Wheeler, is SO passionate about the show. I hope it lives up to his expectations and ours (or at least those of us looking forward to it)
I like the Circus angle, as it's where he learns his skills.Think of the heroes who have been involved with the circus or were trained there.Robin, Hawkeye and Nightcrawler. He also gets his mask during the second episode.
Like that scene where he disappears in a puff of smoke. That's one of Max's illusions that he's use as The Cape.I think it's a cool way to approach it.The illusion of superpowers when there really aren't any.
I think The Cape will do good behind Chuck. It will get all of the Chuck fans tuning in at first since it has a superhero story like Chuck does…. If Cape has a good story, it may do very well!
that's not always new material but at least they are trying. NBC will have to promote the show to a higher level if they want it to succeed in january. I'm wondering if a new midseason show like Harry's Law is having the same treatment since the new schedule was announced.
If all goes well, “The Cape” has the potential to turn Summer into a household name much like the show “Castle” did for Nathan Fillion. :) We hope and pray for the show’s success. Our best wishes to Summer and the rest of her cast mates on The Cape.
The Cape is labeled as a one-hour Drama by NBC and creator Thomas Wheeler said the show has a comic vibe but the characters and the plots are real and believable; that means a character could be in real danger, not in the 60's tv version of Batman & Robin.
Starting date quoted by Cape creator Tom Wheeler : "The Cape premiere Sunday, January 9th and the following day (Monday) they repeat both the pilot and the 2nd episode. The following Monday (January 17th) at 9 you will see Episode 3."
Holy s**t, I did not just see that, wow an actual show about superheroes that looks just as good as a movie, I love smallvile don't get me wrong, but this looks almost like a movie, can't wait for this show! Looks badass!
I had to watch it. Give my self an hour and then watch it again. On my first viewing I thought it looked pretty mediocre. It basically confirmed what I originally thought reading the description the other day. However on my second viewing I thought that the music and editing may have put it in a bad light.
The costume is okay. I like it because it reminds me a little of Moon Knight. The Capes cape actually has a useful purpose and that little disappearing act is very nice. It looks decent and i'm willing to give their first season a viewing.
This could be ok, but I can already see that the circus gang of bank robbers are going to be far more interesting than the hero's family which has lameness written all over it. They'll have to keep those to a strict minimum. I like the actual use of the cape- surprised that the style was never used in Batman. I'll give the show a whirl, but this looks like one of those one season shows from the late 70s- sort of reminds me a little of Sword of Justice- the hero didn't have a cape but he learnt his skills from criminals while in jail for a crime he didn't commit...as you do
Yeah, i know, the story about Vince Faraday trying to reunite his family has lameness writen on it; but The Cape has to have a bit of drama in it. I hope the crime fighting, action and comedy will have the greater part though.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
This looks more promising than The Event ever did. However, I still think the whole normal person becomes superhero is so tired no one will watch it...

ReplyDeleteIt looks good and promising. I'm definetly gonna give this a shot

I hope it won't be labeled as a genre show but rather as a family action-oriented drama.
ReplyDeleteOr it will lead TSCC p
The Cape : "Are you like twelve?"
ReplyDeleteOrwell : "You're the one wearing a long underwear and a cape." Lol
This looks intruiging enough to get my attention for at least an episode.

10 reasons to watch the show:
ReplyDelete1)Summer Glau
and i forgot the rest.
Wow, this looks good, maybe it might be my favorite show after smallville ends :P
ReplyDeleteLooking foward to The Cape Summer Glau rules!! Good luck to you Summer!
ReplyDeleteThe Cape looks amazing.. It's like batman with a bit of zorro thrown in.. It's nerdy awesome
ReplyDeleteThe Cape maybe unoriginal but it has something Heroes doesn't, "ACTION!"

ill give it a go but
you have only seen a trailer, if someone made a trailer about heroes showing 5 or 6 episodes worth of action you would think it was better.
ReplyDeleteSomeone give Summer a show that lasts, damnit! Each time a show she is on gets canceled, she just does guest spots for a year or two before finding yet another show that gets canceled.

"Don't loose hope. Never loose hope!"
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it could turn into something. Hey, at least THIS hero wears a COSTUME.
I like the Circus angle, as it's where he learns his skills.Think of the heroes who have been involved with the circus or were trained there.Robin, Hawkeye and Nightcrawler. He also gets his mask during the second episode.
ReplyDeleteLike that scene where he disappears in a puff of smoke. That's one of Max's illusions that he's use as The Cape.I think it's a cool way to approach it.The illusion of superpowers when there really aren't any.
ReplyDeleteNatahn Fillion had a hard time finding a sucessful show; hopefully The Cape will be for Summer Glau what Castle is for Nathan Fillion.
ReplyDeleteLooks promising. And I love Summer, so I really hope this works for her :)
ReplyDeleteThe bigger the hype you create, the easier and more ppl will be disappointed if it turns out not to be so good.
ReplyDeleteI think The Cape will do good behind Chuck. It will get all of the Chuck fans tuning in at first since it has a superhero story like Chuck does…. If Cape has a good story, it may do very well!

The Event is just so awful it makes this show look good. That's what I meant by that statement.
ReplyDeleteWhen I said that I was talking about shows like Heroes, No Ordinary Family, etc.
ReplyDeleteI’m not a huge comic book person and though The Cape definitely has the look and feel of a comic, i hope it won't overdo it.
ReplyDeleteIf all goes well, “The Cape” has the potential to turn Summer into a household name much like the show “Castle” did for Nathan Fillion. :) We hope and pray for the show’s success. Our best wishes to Summer and the rest of her cast mates on The Cape.

GOD It looks sooo good! I thought it was a movie trailer at first heheheh. But wow. I'm so watching this.
ReplyDeleteHe's Batman :D
ReplyDeletesorry haahaha
LOL true poor girl. And she is great I love her.
ReplyDeletehe has the CAPE duh. ;))
ReplyDeleteYeah, i know, the story about Vince Faraday trying to reunite his family has lameness writen on it; but The Cape has to have a bit of drama in it.
ReplyDeleteI hope the crime fighting, action and comedy will have the greater part though.
What i hate with the family thing is that I'm just screaming at my tv JUST TELL THEM! Poeple wont know that they know you idiot.
ReplyDelete:DD but the kid is so cute. I wont mind
Well they have a lot in commun in fact :
ReplyDeleteNo powers but a cape,
Carnies involved,
A sidekick (Orwell inthis case, played by Summer Glau).
I'm sure there is plenty of others.
I know, but my only purpuse (?) was to quote Supernatural LOL! :DDD
ReplyDeleteSummer Glau as sidekick i love it
Looks awesome, I can't wait. Seeing Summer Glau in it reminds me of how Terminator got cancelled before its time...Anyways, looks like it'll be great.
