  2. I know. I met a lot of German, Spanish and French people over the summer, and they all said they dub everything on TV, which affected their everyday English. If you look at countries who do not dub everything (or anything), their English is overall better :P

  5. I hate dubbing, ever since I started watching movies and TV shows in English 8 or 9 years ago, there's no way of going back. Maybe other countries do it better, but in Germany/Austria it just sucks in my opinion.
And of course it helped me improve my English or to be precise helped me keep it on a consitently good level.

  6. I'm really looking forward to "The Walking Dead" and I will definitely watch it in English, as I do with all of my TV shows.

Especially comedy shows are far better in the original, as many puns and jokes are only hard to translate and keep them funny.
On the other hand, I don't mind watching a action movie in the dubbed version as these are not as heavy on the conversation and it is easier to "shut down" your brain and enjoy the action.

What I absolutely don't like are subtitles - well, it would be fine to have an English movie with English subtitles - but English with German subtitles is the worst, as your brain subconsciously tries to read the text while you try focusing on the the spoken language.
I think subtitles only work if you don't understand anything of the spoken language ...
