I was tepid about Rufus in the past but this looks great. I love how Rufus just shows up and demands Bobby help him bury a body - like it's a normal occurrence - but I love Bobby's reaction even more. They've got a good banter going here that I hope will last the whole episode. I also like how they know so much about monsters instead of having to research to figure out what it is. Less exposition that way. I was always interested in this episode because of Jensen directing, but I'm liking the writing/acting too.
This is going to be AWESOME! Love Bobby. I'm guessing all the fan girls will be outraged that Sam and Dean take a back seat in this one, but it's ABOUT FREAKIN' TIME Bobby got his own episode.
Haha, yeah I thought it'd be to take a load of Jensen. And you're right, the first two alternative suggestions sound pretty bad but having Samuel tell a story about young Mary would be worth it just to see Amy Gumenick back.
I agree that I want to see more about the boys, but this is the episode Jensen directed. He couldn't be in it much and still direct and Jensen said that directing Jared would make him nervous. So the writers wrote an episode where Sam and Dean only make brief appearances. Hey, we could have gotten a look at how Lisa copes being the girlfriend of a hunter; or an episode showing the Campbells being mysterious (because its' too early to let us know what's going with them); or a flashback to one of Mary's hunts as told by Samuel just like every episode in How I Met Your Mother where we rarely see Ted's kids. All in all, I'll take Bobby and Rufus hunting over any of the above, although a flashback to Mary would have been somewhat interesting
Last night's was great. This one looks like it will be too but I hope shifting the focus away from Sam and Dean doesn't become a consistent thing, I'd prefer all four major characters to play their part in an episode rather than focus on a certain one each ep.
Rufus is back! Steven Williams still looks good after all these years. Remember when he was on "21 Jump Street" as Captain Fuller? I always liked that show. Anyway, this looks like another great episode this week and I like the idea of Bobby being featured. This was probably the best episode that Jensen could have directed where the attention was off of him and Sam and focused on someone else for a change. This is not a bad thing, people! Jared and Jensen don't mind sharing every once in a good while!
"So, you got a shovel?" Hahahaaaa. I'm excited we are seeing the return of Rufus!! :) Jensen did an amazing job with this episode!!! He should direct more :P
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Oh man, I actually cannot wait for this episode! Much, *much* Bobby love.
ReplyDeleteIt may surprise you. At least wait and watch it before you call it boring and mediocre.
