Smallville - Michael Rosenbaum willing to come back

Oct 22, 2010

Thanks to SmallvilleSupernaturalCastle for the heads up.Will Michael Rosenbaum reprise his role as Lex Luthor on TVs Smallville before it’s curtains for this tenth and final season?

Quite possibly. Maybe.

The actor, who left the popular superhero series at the end of season 7, says he’s open to the suggestion of reprising his bald alter-ego on the series.

“You know… that’s a tough question. I don’t know. We’ve tried to work things out. I don’t know if they’re going to work out. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. I never say no to anything. I don’t know. I’m open. It just has to work out right, it has to be right. So if it happens - I miss the guys, I love the crew, the cast. I had a great time. I was there for seven years, a lot of people don’t realize. I was there seven years. I thought I was finished, but who knows? You never know.”

Apparently the reason - and it’s a good one, I guess - Rosenbaum has refused reprising the role thus far is because he doesn’t want to shave his head again. Someone get the dude a convincing bald cap now!

Meanwhile, Teri Hatcher has taken to Facebook to tell her/the show’s fans about her upcoming guest appearance as Lois Lane’s mother on Smallville.

“I shot my Smallville part. While I’m sworn to secrecy, I can tell you that it was a blast from the past and it was with love in my heart that I tried to deliver something that served the part, honored the show in it’s 10th season, and gave a tip of the hat to all the deserved fans who’ve supported me all these years. Many thanks. It was lots of fun. Ah…Lois. I love Susan but I’ve missed you:) Stay tuned for info and air dates.”

  1. I think he left for the same reasons Allison Mack kinda left this season, he got a little tired of playing the same character for 7 full years...in part I agree it must be exhausting and imagine having to be bald for 7 years when you don't like it ha

  5. Hum, I don't think that the reason he doiesnt want to come back is his hair...

  6. As he says it, it seems like he's just waiting a call by TBTB, but maybe he's asking like a shitload of money because he has to shave his head lol

I pray I'd only had to shave my head to get an high-paying job lol. Also, I don't think he's THAT busy...I've only heard of him on animated shows recently.

  7. Of course he's open to coming back. He's not doing anything. He lends his voice to animated projects and acts occasionally in one no-name project after the other.

Unless he's writing the script to "Sorority Boys 2", I'd say his schedule is open. Shave your head and say your lines, you wuss.

  8. That's not news. That's Rosenbaum being a little b!tch and avoiding the answer like he has done since 2008.

HEY MAN!! This show is mainly about Clark vs. Lex and even when Michael left it was like that, with season 8, apperances and sort in s9, and even now in s10. Its not Clark vs. Doomsday, Zod, and Darkseid. As much as i like tess and yes i agree it was good for a refresher, no one can replace michael and lex as the greatest villain and i quote from Dr. Fate ""Although Lex Luthor is your ultimate opponent, you will triumph over him."

  10. lol I completely agree about trading Lex for Tess. I love Tess so much lol

Speaking of homoerotic undertones, Did you just hear Oliver's "Coming out" speech? That was pretty funny to me.

  11. Despite the taunting I did in my earlier post, I'm basically indifferent to the whole "return of Lex" shtick. I guess it would be nice for the fans if he can pop by but I'm over it. I was glad to trade Lex, his daddy issues, his obsession with Clark, and all the homoerotic undertones that came with it for Tess Mercer. Besides, having Lex gone freed up the show for baddies like Zod, Doomsday, and now Darkseid. I doubt they would of went there if Lex Luthor was still in the mix.

  12. He doesn't have to shave his head. Lex's baldness resulted from the childhood accident shown in the series. Since his child clones haven't been exposed to the same accident then his adult self from that same genetic structure should have a full head of hair. OK it may have to be colored since it looks like Lex is a ginger but there is a plot devise that allows Michael to come back and still have his hair. Gene Hackman had a full head of hair as Lex in the original movies (later revealed to be a wig) so why can't Rosenbaum's version?

  13. In all honesty, I can understand why he left, and also I was REALLY getting tired of how they were rehashing stuff with Lex every year, so it was sort've a good refresher for the storyline. However, I really think that he needs to do this--for the fans, for his own (extra) closure, and for the writers who want to accomplish something grand in their final season for a show he helped make great. :P

Hear that Mike!? I'm talkin' to you!
