----------
-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS ruled the Tuesday overnights, as always, with its combination of NCIS (#1: 12.2 rating/19 share), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (#2: 10.3/15) and older-skewing The Good Wife (#1: 8.5/13). Comparably, the Eye net bested second-place ABC by a hefty 41 percent. In the distant No. 3 spot was NBC, followed by Fox (which aired game 4 of the American League Championship Series one year earlier; hence the steep declines) and lowly The CW.
The standout on ABC, of course, was the live Dancing with the Stars Results Show at a dominant 10.9/17 in the overnights at 9 p.m. Considering the target audience for Dancing with the Stars is older females, it was both a surprise and a disappointment to see that lovely lady, Florence Henderson, leave this early. Nervous Bristol Palin needs to be sent packing already.
Lead-out Detroit 1-8-7 continues to squander the plum lead-in support, with a second-place 5.8/10 at 10 p.m. Comparably, retention out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of Dancing with the Stars (11.1/17) was only 52 percent, and the crime-solver dipped by a too extensive 17 percent at 10:30 p.m. (6.4/10 to 5.3/ 9). ABC could, and should, be doing better here. Five-week overnight track for Detroit 1-8-7:
Detroit 1-8-7 (ABC) – Tues. 10 p.m.
9/21/10: 7.1/12
9/28/10: 6.1/10
10/05/10: 5.7/10
10/12/10: 5.3/ 9
10/19/10: 5.8/10
Earlier in the evening on ABC was week four of No Ordinary Family, which leveled off at a second-place 5.3/ 8 at 8 p.m. Compared to year-ago occupant Shark Tank (3.8/ 6 on Oct. 20, 2009), this was an improvement of a notable 39 percent. Four-week overnight track for No Ordinary Family:
No Ordinary Family (ABC) – Tues. 8 p.m.
9/28/10: 7.4/11
10/05/10: 5.9/ 9
10/12/10: 5.3/ 8
10/19/10: 5.3/ 8
Over at NBC, veteran The Biggest Loser remains on the downside this season, with a 4.8/ 7 in the overnights last night down by nine percent from the 5.3/ 8 one year earlier. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:
The Biggest Loser (NBC):
8:00 p.m.: 4.9/ 8 (#3)
8:30 p.m.: 4.8/ 7 (#3)
9:00 p.m.: 4.7/ 7 (#3)
9:30 p.m.: 4.9/ 7 (#3)
At 10 p.m., NBC’s sophomore Parenthood finished a distant third, as usual, with a 3.7/ 6. One year earlier, former failed occupant The Jay Leno Show was stronger at a 4.1/ 7 on Oct. 20, 2009.
Fox traveled the repeat route last night from 8-9:30 p.m., with encore telecasts of Glee (#4: 4.0/ 6) and recent entry Raising Hope (#4: 2.6/ 4). With weaker lead-in support, week five of Running Wilde sunk to a series low 2.0/ 3 at 9:30 p.m. In case you are wondering of why Fox wasted an original installment of Running Wilde last night, so am I actually. Five-week overnight track for Running Wilde:
Running Wilde (Fox) – Tues. 9:30 p.m.
9/21/10: 3.9/ 6
9/28/10: 3.3/ 5
10/05/10: 2.6/ 4
10/12/10: 2.4/ 4
10/19/10: 2.0/ 3
Last, and very least, was The CW’s combination of One Tree Hill (1.5/ 2) and Life Unexpected (1.1/ 2). Comparably, this was equal to year-ago occupants 90210 and Melrose Place, and that is not a positive.

I agree! Life Unexpected is the cutest show! :) We need more shows like this one!
ReplyDeleteTune in, people!!!
I really like it too but, to be honest, its chances of renewal at this point are grim.
ReplyDeletePeople need to start watching Life Unexpected! Your mising out on alot here people!! Its a really amazing show!
ReplyDeleteThe love triangle is long gone. Kate and Ryan are married and Baze is single.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on Life Unexpected after mom and dad (can't remember mom's name) slept together again while mom was engaged to Ryan. I couldn't take another trite love triangle. Has it improved since that point or are they still wishy washy about everyone's relationship?
ReplyDeletebut the first season is kinda about this. But they only sleep together once.
ReplyDeleteI like the triangle, girl side of me, but Lux story is really nice. I love it.
