1. It was GREAT at the beginning at the episode to see Elena and Stefan together. Since we don't get to see too many of these moments, I always treasure them when they come. I hope the producers will put more moments like that in future episodes once Elena and Stefan get back together. Also, I loved the look on Stefan's face when Jenna told him that she was a light sleeper. That look said it all!!
2. Stefan and Elena's breakup had better not last for long. Those two are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too good together to be apart for long.
3. It was nice to see Caroline connect with her mother for once. It was too bad that she compelled her mother to forget everything. I think Liz could have been ok with Caroline being a vampire. But maybe Caroline compelled her mother out of love and fear for Liz's safety.
4. It was nice to find out some more about what the moonstone can do and why Katherine and Mason might possibly want it.
5. I can't believe Katherine got to Matt!!
6. Seeing Stefan after he was immersed in the vervain-water was soooooo hurtful!
7. Seeing the pain on Stefan's face after he and Elena broke up was waaaaaaaaaaay too much for me to handle. I hate anything that puts him and Elena in any type of pain or hurt.
8. Did anybody else notice a ring on Katherine's finger when she was talking on the phone to Elena? I wonder who else she has under her spell....
9. Mason is now out of the picture. Does anybody else miss him or not miss him?
I don't know HOW 2 people could have watched that episode and rated it Poor OR Awful... the two words don't belong in the same category as this episode, or this show in general. People are stupid!
I'm PRAYING that since they told us basically it's gnna be Matt who dies next week, that it won't be.. Seems too obvious for this show, they like their twists and turns TOO much! again, Praying! I don't wanna lose Matt..
Wow, this episode. They really knocked it out of the ballpark. It was a stellar performance from every actor on the show. I was sad by the unceremonious way Mason was killed off. I wish they could have given the character a better exit. And wow, the breakup scene!!! It was so full of emotion and heartbreak that I found myself tearing up. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Paul Wesley is consistently one of the strongest actors on the CW, let alone in The Vampire Diaries; the powerful sorrow that he emoted in those one and a half minutes packed more punch than any of the previous episodes combined.
Looking forward to next week! Although from the promos and this episode's cliffhanger it appears as if Matt may be the next to bite the dust. It's a shame, I wish they had given his character a little more opportunity to shine.
One of the best episodes ever!! It was eventful, emotional with WTF moments...The only thing I disliked was the Matt-part in the end, it's a really cheesy move I think...
vervain is an actual real plant. And a lot of people in REAL world are allergic to them. It can also cause deaths of pregnant women and their children and is overall poisonous to humans if used in too big quantities.
Tonight's episode was.. INSANE! This was an episode you might expect in the MIDDLE of a season.. a sort of peak or turning point? Or even a finale.. but we are only 6 episodes in! I can only imagine what the rest of the season has to offer.. I'm literally "giddy" with anticipation. (And I'm not that kind of girl ..really. lol)
And I just have to comment specifically to the last couple scenes of the show. WOW! There have been quite a few heart wrenching moments in this show thus far but nothing even close to tonight's break-up scene between Stefan and Elena! Stefan crying was absolutely heart breaking.. I had to rewind and watch that scene over just to admire what a brilliant performance it really was. Kudos to Paul Wesley!
This show has a brilliant cast and some really great writers at it's disposal. I have to say.. as someone who originally started watching the show with the anticipation of laughing at it.. I am impressed! ..and completely HOOKED!

I've got to go back and rewatch the ep...but there are two things I feel compelled to note. :-) {minor spoilers ahead fyi}
1) Re: Jenna -- Long years of watching cheesy action movies and soap operas have taught me. That if you're protecting someone. They *never* stay protected if you do not tell them who, what, and why.
2) It just occurred to me. If the founding families/council *really* wanted to protect the town they'd have started adding vervain to the town's water supply.
It occurs to me.....if I were on the town council...I'd be adding vervain to the town water supply so that everyone is safe from vampires.
for me, the scene between caroline and the sheriff happens to be the most subtle yet emotionally powerful scene thus far.
and im amazed at the amount of metaphors they've attached to the whole vampire idea -- drugs, alcoholism, insecurity, loneliness, and the most beautiful in a twisted way, empowerment.
the break-up, i was kinda expecting that. but not this early.
katherine has just proven herself a formidable villain.
this episode sets up the scooby gang. i wonder if that pays off in the next episode ...
i think Matt getting killed is a cheat. im hoping he doesnt die at the hands of tyler. but if matt's gonna set up a twist, then that means caroline could be the death of the one who shall be missed. coz for sure, caroline wont let matt walk into a fight with tyler.
i again i believe matt's involvement is going to be a cheat
but then again, ive read synopsis of upcoming episodes and im spoiled
Loved this best episode yet AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Loved how Bonnie and Damon worked together maby they will come to truth's . Damon should had not been so rash and stupid with killing Mason cause now Katherine is trying to turn Tyler . But at least he admitted the truth to Elena , and the look on his face when her and Stefan broke up . In a way i am so glad they broke up cause boring zzzzzzzzz like a say sorry for all you fan's . I felt sorry for Caroline cause her mum just accepted what she was and she had to sacrifice all of that for Stefan and Damon . I think Jeramey is qite cool now and hope him and Damon become friend's lol . But even though Mason is dead am glad i hated him .
Caroline is finally growing on me (and growing up a bit too I think.) Loved the scene with her mother and the way the actress played that scene with Bonnie (a character that has grown down right annoying) when she agreed to let Caroline go with her.
Elena was careless and stupid in this ep and she paid for it or rather Jenna did. I'd be ranting about a high-school kid having sex under her parents roof but they fully established they type of guardian Jenna is so it worked.
Damon. Damon. Damon. He just can't help himself. I love this character. He's all shades of grey. Rip a guy's heart out. Rub in to Katherine and then be heart broken when he sees the consequences. He just an extremely interesting character and played so very well. My favorite moment of the season was when Stefan told him he wasn't going to fight him over kissing Elena because he was seeing sparks of his humanity and he didn't want to be the one to crush that. When messed with his head to the point that he snapped Jeremy's neck I thought they were going to back off that complexity. I'm glad they didn't because if they had we'd be missing out on the glorious ride that is Damon.
One thing that concerns me. I'm wondering how long Katherine is going to be an interesting villain to me. I can't articulate my concern very well right now. But it started to niggle in the back of my mind with this episode.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG I CANT BELIEVE JUST YET!!!! THIS ONE WAS THE BEST EPISODE EVER!!!! BUT REALLY IF MATT DIES... WILL BE NO FUN!
ReplyDeleteI thought the episode was okay, well no, good. But the last 10 min were great!
ReplyDeleteGeez, that was intense.

And let's not forget the look on Damon's face when he saw what his rash action had cost Elena.
ReplyDeleteWell yeah, that would be the smart thing to do, but then the vampires wouldn't stick around and we would have no show.

You got any idea what it's like to have a good rant foiled by logic and reason? :-D It's annoying. LOL.
