POLL : What did you think of Supernatural - The Third Man?

  1. Well that was one more of the things I loved of this ep, the previous two were resolved in those 42 minute and you could barely predict what the next one was going to be about. But now with The Third Man we know this story will continue, soon I hope, and Balthazar and Raphael will definitely be coming back, maybe Raphael being the antagonist of the season.

  2. ha yes, those scenes made me kinda look away but then I loved them for making me do that...the first one was the most graphic definitely

  3. WELL this episode was awesome, finally a good episode this season for me, after imo the worst season premiere of the series and a kinda mediocre episode last week, the epic stuff returns. I love the angels stories, I don't know why so much of you hate it. And for the people that say you can't top the Apocalypse, you should re-watch this episode. And TPTB: if you can't top the Apocalypse, at least try and not make the first episode about some silly Djinns :D

Castiel was indeed hysterical in every scene. I liked Balthazar and glad they remembered Raphael after just showing him once.

What I like in this type of episodes about religious stuff is how they turn something that Michael Bay would add angels flying, explosions and worldwide level problems, into some thing so simple you don't require special effects. When angels land, you hear their wings, because seeing a man with wings would look silly, you just imagine how it looks, and that's better. The Staff of Moses is just a stick, Angels fight with some swords and fists. Simple.

So many bible stuff, locusts plagues, people turning into salt, and some gruesome ancient diseases.
I'd wish the whole season was at this level.

  4. Each episode seems better than the previous one - I commented somewhere else that I thought it might take a few episodes for Sera & Co to hit their stride - and they may be getting close with this one. The only thing that bugged me was the lack of resolution. I may have missed something but it just seemed to stop after Cas let Balthazar go - with no explanation or plan for recovering the various pieces of 'Chuck Heston's disco stick'. I hope they're planning to follow it up in some way. That was my only real gripe - and such a small thing really.
And yeah I love that they can convey so much with so little. It's always good to leave something to the imagination and keep things simple.

  5. You know I've never been a fan of horror movies/TV until I started watching Supernatural. Couldn't stomach the gore - but now man! I was watching the beginning of this episode going J***s f******g C*****t that's disgusting! And laughing the whole time. And I don't use language like that much either.
Had to kind of scrunch my eyes up and look sideways at the TV for the boils and the locusts but I loved it. So thank you Supernatural for turning me into a gore junky!

    ReplyDelete
  6. oh man don't just hate an episode because it has some gore, just remember that it's not real and have a laugh for how brutal it is :D

  7. I just hope the reason he is different is not because he is not really Sam. That has been made a thousand times already, same with the Campbells. For now I'm glad Castiel acknowledged "we don't know who raised him" (paraphrasing). If he was some demon, Castiel would've known.

  8. wow man, I think exactly the opposite, while I didn't like first two episodes, I think this was one of the best episodes in a while.

  9. Cas made the night for me, Him being more of a soldier, than a friend, but still having friend qualities, I enjoyed that. He had me cracking up when he said him and Dean had a more "profound bond", than him and Sam. "I wasn't gonna say anything". LOL I'm so glad they put that in there. Cuz now we know they even know that. I was actually impressed with Sam at the beginning. Being so good in bed that he made a Prostitue 4get the money??!!!? WOW!! Go Sam! I also liked how Dean was getting a little jealous and "Raced" Sam.....Sam: "did you just race me?" Dean: No, I kicked ur ass." lmao That was funny. Idk if I'm liking the more sensitive hesitate Dean right now, although I know Y he's become that way, but idk, maybe i'll get used to it. But for now I'd like the "I don't take crap from ne1, suck it, douchebags". Dean back.

  10. well i guess the ep was very interesting in a gr8 way also cracking mind with all the laughs in it not locusts lollllllll
again different for what we used 2 c
i guess people did not like SN at first coz of all the changes
you know like when you move on from place 2 place it takes awhile till we get used 2 it
so it 's better 2 keep an open mind
the change from Eric 2 Sara got to some people
i luv that season it's awesome keep us want more and want 2 know what is gonna happen next
i think Sam will get better with more time with Dean
remember cold Dean in Episode 4 s5 but we learn something in that episode
when Dean told Sam after he got back from future that they keep each other human
so Sam been off with those Campells 4 a whole year give Dean 4 episodes more of this season and he will get Sammy back

  11. ha! I did say, embarrassingly loudly to my tv screen, 'Well he's spent all that time in they gym...." LOL

  12. dsl speeds are affected by how far you are from a telephone box of some such. Have you considered Hughes Satellite? Got a friend on the outskirts of Arizonia that went to them for just that reason.

  13. What a mission - the episode took HOURS to download which did not make me happy!
You guys have said pretty much everything there is to say, but of course I absolutely have to add my bit.

The opening scene where the guy basically turned to mush - gag inducing! The boils were disgusting too.
I HATE seeing Sam so cold and disassociated - but I also think it's brilliant, and Jared is pulling it off perfectly.

I loved that the Charger is toast. And that Cas was the agent of its destruction.

I do not want Apocalypse Revisited - maybe they threw that in as a red herring?

And they didn't play Back in Black and that sucks. But the Impala is back in black so I forgive them.

And SOON just means they can put bits in that don't just come from next weeks' episode - I saw bits from 'Live Free....' and 'You Can't ....' as well as some from 'Weekend....'

Overall I like the ep for the way it developed Sam's character change. And Cas' 're-angel-ing'. We are left even more curious as to why Sam is SO different, and what he is hiding - and there were NO Campbells this week! Yay!

I've 'liked' all the comments cause there was so much that I agree with (and like) and didn't want to repeat everything. ;)

  14. My face was covered during the locusts too. I like my gross out to be behind hands or completely non-visual. Just the sounds gave me enough of the effect. I am a complete wuss when it comes to gross.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Aww, no Back in Black. That makes me sad.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Not a fan of the Egyptian plagues. Those were gross and when I show the ep to my best friend I will be tortured. (It's gonna be almost as bad as the roach ep of x-Files.)

Cas' reappearance was hysterical. The dissertation on his people skills had me rolling.

Dean continuing to parent Ben was great to see and Dean being Sam's big brother was great to see.

Loved the way they got Sam back into Dean's ride. Awesome.

I've read most of the comments. The comments about tonight's plot have forced me to kind of step back from the fun and think about that part of the ep. We learned one thing...Castiel is NOT the detective. He definitely need the guy's help. They found the guy who stole the weapons, Castiel asked for the stolen goods back....but the way the ep ended I didn't get a sense that Castiel had any plan to get the stuff back. (I love the actor that played Balthazar.) I think that was my only problem. I believe this is one of the arc stories for the season but it didn't fell like there's more coming. It felt like it got dropped.

As to the arc stories...the Sam story has me intrigued. Heartless Sam is interesting and much more subtle than I expected when I heard the teasers of the story. I'm liking it and I like that Dean is truly taking the 'Sam' position of earlier seasons. He knows something's wrong and it trying to figure out what it is and Sam, maintains that everything is fine. But I'm a viewer that doesn't need her favorite characters to always stay the same. I love it when my favorite characters are pushed to the edge. I not worried. This is the first beat of a bigger story. I'm excited to see how it plays out.

I really liked the ep. I'm enjoying the season.

  17. OMG this first scene with Cas is so great. I love when he says his poeple skills arent great are what ever and he does the : " " with his fingers LOL!!!! omg. AW.
Cas got powers again. good and bad. Bad cause he is wayyy more fun when he cant do much but good cause i guess they can use him more.

NO CAS DONT Torture him, what the hell. OKAY BAD EPISODE BAD EPISODE BAD BAD BAD.!!!! I agree with wilson for this 5 mins. :((( Cas u break my heart. aw but no I STILL LOVE IT!!!

Guys I'm sorry if this is boring :D

MEN I missed the window thing... okay i hate myself. great stunt :D did ... did he landed on sam's car?? cause that is SO AWESOME.
AW "to many angels" DEAN lol. you see I didnt like the fact that there is a new angel but with this line i feel like the writers know it. it makes me calm down lol. and balthazar is the coolest name ever.

aw, little mistake. Cas did make a thingy that needed humain blood before but i thought it was okay since he was kinda using Jimmy's but guess not... now its not working tsktsktsk.. i'll let it slide..

UH! discusting...the frog thing. awesome actor wow. GOD how awesome is CASTIEL? My friend thinks he is not great at all cause he doesnt do any thing and well... she is crazy ahaha but she would love him now hahaha.

"peace out douch scquad" dean... Okay we clearly over used that word hHHAHAHA who can blame us ahhaahah (us=writers i know -_-)

SAM BACK IN THE IMPALA the word is right again. LOL BEN'S HALOOWEEEEN costume.. awe-some

I like Sam.s reaction to deans conserns lol. "yeah I've change duh!" LOL i love it!!! I'm starting to love sam more. not more then dean though DUH mission impossible dude. 18. It's an allusion to the old show "The Brady Bunch"... lol

    ReplyDelete
  19. yes it 's true
but after all i still like Sam i don't hate what he become
because we should consider what he 've been thorough
even when he is saying he is fine i don't think he is
i think he is denying his emotions
i really love SN i love watching it every week
and with every thing they do with changing the character
i guess it's good 4 the show < and the prove of
that every body keep wa8ing 4 next week's episode 2 c what is gonna happen

  20. I think Gabriel may be gone for good :( - although this IS Supernatural so who knows?
I hate the waiting too, but I just know it's going to be worth the wait when we eventually find out what's up with Sammy. This is great TV - keeping us all guessing and feeling frustrated for not knowing. That's exactly what Sera & Co want and it's working. Where's the fun in knowing everything 3 episodes in?
And Sam's car - SPLAT! - and he seemed kind of upset about it for some reason! Proves there's something off about him.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah I torrent them, and yeah it takes for-freakin'-ever! I live in a small rural area and the broadband speed is slower than in the cities (I have no idea why - I know nothing about technology) and especially slow on a Saturday afternoon (Supernatural is up on the torrent sites from about 4:30pm local time) for some reason. We also have a 'cap' on our broadband usage so my 'significant other' prefers I download rather than streaming because I ALWAYS have to watch it several times.
But hey - at least I get to see it instead of waiting months for it to come up on local TV - they haven't even started screening Season 5 here yet!

Oh yeah and bring on the gore-fest!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Have to say that I really liked this episode. I enjoyed the return of Cas, and there were some awesome one liners in there. I can't wait until they unravel the mystery of the new Sam attitude since he's returned to hell, but I hear on the grapevine that they're supposed to sort that out in like, the first 8 eps or something? Which I think (if it's true) is an excellent time-line, because it gives them enough time to play out the mystery of what happened to Sam and why he's changed, but it also gives them enough time on the other side to develop a story having sorted the whole Sam issue. Here's hoping anyway! :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I like your theory... I believe Dean can break through to Sam. Sam knows he is "off', and he wants to be fixed.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't think he didn't care... He just knew they needed the intel. Plus Castiel said their would be nearly no permanent damage. During "the procedure" Sam looked curious, but by the end he looked upset. Just because it "had" to be done, doesn't mean Sam didn't care.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Why would you say Sam was outright lying? Just because Dean looked like he didn't believe him? I need more evidence to make that call. Besides, they had just talked about Dean being cursed with hearing the truth. He could have been testing the "curse" out on Sam, and thought it wasn't working... until he tests it against Bobby.

    ReplyDelete
  26. LOL, bring on the jensen ackles directed episode?

i like that supernatural is bringing back a lot more of the horror, blood and guts... its been very black smoke/white light for a while now.

also, it takes you hours to dl? do you torrent them and take forever or something? it never takes me more than an hour... i can post links here if its not against the rules or something, does anyone know if it is?

    ReplyDelete
  27. also, i know this is old, but everytime i see it, it bugs me. i thought only an angel can kill another angel (in that ep where we found out 7 angels had been killed already in season 4), even with the angel knife, does anything have the power the wield it suddenly?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Liked it but wasn't too impressed with the episode. It enjoyed the gross parts but the rest was meh. The pacing was weird, the Raphael - Cas fight was another instance of lame angel-fistfighting and the Baltazar - Cas scenes were disappointing. The entire episode felt very rushed. The SOON promo wasn't as exciting as last year. Maybe it was the boring score or the missing of great scenes but besides the vampire part nothing really got me.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I *hate* the "SOON" clips. There are eps I want to see and the soons don't give me any idea of when exactly they're get to those eps. And let me keep my security blanket of knowing exactly when the next ep is airing. btw I checked my schedule and we are supposed to get an ep next Friday. so they didn't do it because of skipping.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Not boring. Kinda fun. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  31. soz but a totally want the show to finish what it started i mean SAM as the devil was amazing acting from Jared "see you in 5 year's Dean" in the epoised the end amazing . Also why is Sam acting so strange ? and when he jumped in the gate of hell he was still the devil xx

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think tbh last season wasn't finished. I think sam is still the devil cause when he jumped in to hell he was and he is acting strange so ??????????????? douno like x

    ReplyDelete
  33. both...trying too hard and they didnt work out too well...

    ReplyDelete
  34. I second that. Sam is whoever the writers write him to be and whoever Jared portrays him to be. Not who the fans want him to be. They have a plan. Give it time to unfold. Sera said things are not as they appear. I believe there will be a few twists and a few surprises coming down the pike.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't know, I think the playing out of the mystery of what saved Sam is the way to go. I don't want to know right away. I'm enjoying watching it build, watching Dean's reaction to his brother, watching Sam's attempts to sidestep the questions. I loved his answer to Dean about what 'Hell did to YOU. It tortured You. And I think it still does. But me, I'm fine." Riiiight. You're fine, Sam. He's in denial and he's definitely hiding something. If they just came out and told us, people would complain that it wasn't dramatic enough or that it was rushed... playing it out slowly is frustrating, but it makes you want to know even more. I like it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I doubt they'll go there, but the threat of them going there would be an added incentive for the brothers to get back on the same page. Whatever is wrong with Sam, just the mention of the apocalypse re-starting looked like it freaked him out and I think the thought of replaying the whole Lucifer/Michael thing would be enough to at least start to snap him out of whatever strange state of mind he's in. I did love Dean's "why?". He looked freaked, too.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Does the Soon preview mean that there is no SPN next week?

I will kill someone if this is true. NEXT WEEK IS THE ONLY FRIDAY OF I GOT AT MY JOB DAMN IT
    sorry lol

OH and we will learn whats going on with sam in lik episode 5 cmon, its not that bad

    ReplyDelete
  38. yes, yes you did. I just didnt see the one that were overkilled...

dyou mean they didnt work or they tried to much?

    ReplyDelete
  39. a more profond one lol. or deeper im not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  40. what? C'mon the Sam story line is awesome! I think jared never acted this good also. He is nailing it. I have no clue if he knows whats going on or not. aw its perfect. Though I am a Dean fan so maybe im not able to see your point of view but with this season im actualy begining to LOVE sam so much. He anoyed me a litle before (dont hurt me i love him :P)

any way. I say trust the writers, they always been right this far. Sera wrote ones of the best episodes we can trust her for sure.

AW IM SO SAD! With this episode i really thought every one would at least like it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. OH I forgot to put this in my post earlier. When I heard "restart the apocalypse" I almost screamed
OMFG NO! at the tv. If they do that, I'll abandon the show. That sounds like the worst possible direction this show could go in.

    ReplyDelete
  42. In all fairness, I did miss the beginning and I didn't get a chance to tape it so I have to wait to see it again before really analyzing it, BUT what the heck is going on with Sam and Cas? Not liking the changes in Sam. At all. I like Cas as more angel than human, but didn't he just fight to save humans? Now he's torturing little kids? Really? This is not just fallout from last season for them. This is something completely wrong, especially with Sam. Not to mention, why didn't Dean push the issue? He clearly thought it was wrong but after a token protest, he gave up and let them do it. This doesn't seem Dean-like either.

The best thing of course was Sam's car getting annihilated. I also liked the return of the one-liners, but I agree Wilson that some of them fell flat. I'm fine with Raphael returning and the angel civil war but only as long as they keep it in heaven. This episode's angel theme was okay but I really don't want it to be a recurring thing. I did like Balthazar. He's funny and I like that he is on Cas's side; he just doesn't want to be bothered by the rest of it. His laissez-faire philosophy reminds me of Crowley's "only for myself" philosophy.

The rest of the plot was meh for me. Are they going to look for the rest of the staff? Are they looking for other weapons? Is Cas going to tell them what went missing? Will Cas confront Balthazar about it? How hard could it be to find examples of boils and locusts? This doesn't seem like a particularly hard task. The episode seemed unfinished and rushed to me. Plus the pacing is off. Just tell us what is going on with Sam already. I'm not buying Post-Traumatic Hell Syndrome and it's ticking off a lot of fans. It's time to let us and Dean in on the secret.

As for Cas, I did like Cas telling Dean that he didn't come for him either. I also liked that Cas didn't come for Sam because he had no answers. The rusty people skills line was awesome! But most, I liked that Cas had contradictory loyalties. I liked how he defended Dean to Balthazar but then turned right around and let him out of the holy angel ring of fire. It seemed to fit where Cas is now and the role he is playing. He very clearly showed that he is not on Dean and Sam's side this time. He is fighting a much bigger fight and he is going to do whatever it takes to win. (Of course, that being said, I still think kid torture is too much for someone who risked everything to save human lives.)

Time to stop rambling and say that this episode did not impress me on first viewing. Perhaps when I am less tired and have seen it again, I will find the SPN-magic that seemed to be lacking tonight. Either way, some clarity about Sam needs to come soon or they will have alienated at least 1/3 of the SPN population. This reminds me of season 2 when we had to wait half the season to find out what John told Dean. Let's NOT do that again. It was too frustrating.

Questions - Did they play Back in Black when the Impala is first seen? Does the Soon preview mean that there is no SPN next week?

  43. SO SORRY for all these comments lol. I guess talking WHILE watching is not the best idea. so now that im done I can say IT WAS AWESOME! awesome awesome oh yes and AWESOME.

  44. This episode had a little bit of everything. So glad to see the angels back. This is the first episode I have really enjoyed this season. I voted awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well, you are right some of the one liners were excellent. I believe I posted that. But some were just borderline overkill...

  46. Cas = :) ♥ .... "We have a bond" = XD XD XD ♥♥♥♥♥

    ReplyDelete
  47. *Jaw dropping to the floor* What? Men I love it its un explainable. okay okay still got 20 mins to go but AW! the one liners are the best i heard in a LONG time. (though I'm counting the summer hiatus.... haahha) AW

  49. What a horrendous episode, this show's treatment of Sam has ruined the season for me so far. As someone else said on twitter, by gutting Sam you are gutting this show. I hate it so far this season. They are being ridiculously unfair to Jared and Sam and all Sam fans with this crap.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I really enjoyed this episode. I liked that Cas was back to being awkward with humans and that he recognized it too. I found it interesting that he let Balthazar go near the end, leaving it open for him to return. So Raphael will need a new vessel. I am going to miss Denmore Barnes, I really liked him. I don't trust Sam. I am looking forward to Weekend at Bobby's.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Some of the best lines I've heard so far. LOVE Castiel in this episode. LOVE IT. The hand quotes!!!! _hilarious_

Next episode is going to be sick awesome. I really want to find out more about what's going on in Sam's head, and it there is seriously something going on with him or if it's just the new "him".

    The mystery...it tingles... :D

  52. Now that was i was taking about . Good luck jensen xxxx hope u make us happy and it's a hit for u . xxxx

    ReplyDelete
  53. oh and heheh something else. you said "you're actually the first persone .... " blabla well. Go up one post and see who I replied to and that makes 2 and I heard it before. Sometimes really in a harsh way and then I take his defense cause he is damn good. any way, I'm so pissed sorry this is why i write a lot and dont make much sense.

    ReplyDelete
  54. *this was had after i wrote the rest*: Okay maybe you wont read so summary: I love Jared's acting he is awesome. I only thought his Lucifer wasnt that Phenomenal as you said. yes it was hard im not stupid but i dont like when he does evil. its wrong to me. but i loved it in the end he nailed that. (liked the white suit to ahaha)

of course i am .(this is about the "i am the only one who said that comment) lol we are all at their feet ahhaahha! No but its just. wow this is so useless.

Okay! I really think they are awesome actors like wow. but yeah the lucifer part was a let down for me. I thought he was great in" the end" but in at the end lol of the season it had some weird moments.
wait lol now im reading your comment sorry ahaha.

men I knew i would get a hater for seing this. What I meant by the theater thing was just that I love to watch a show and look at the acting. like sometimes i dont really look at what is going on, so i watch twice. I'm basing this on my friend but they dont do that. I'm not an expect did i say this? no. thanks dont say that. Aw I would ned to watch the show with you to tell what i mean. He did a good job and it was freaken hard i know jared said it too im just saying i didnt think it was phenomenal as you said. And if I compaire to Jensen in the end I thought he did a better job. wow im hating myself.

Oh and theater thing again, I didnt mean to say i know acting cause im good ahahah USED to as in i was 15 and bad. but i love it and watch a lot of it and got use to watch the acting and not the story. I'm getting myself deeper in hole. I'll shut up. But i cant. i know you are not thinking what im saying (wow im confused now)

    ReplyDelete
  55. You're actually the first person I've seen say that Jared wasn't that good as Lucifer. You've got to be joking right? I'd love to see you try and stand in front of a mirror and switch back and forth between Lucifer and Sam, Lucifer and Sam, Lucifer and Sam. I think he did phenomenal. So, because you used to do theater, you're automatically an expert on acting? Jared's been doing this for how many years as opposed to you? Yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think it was the best episode of this new season. I loved it. So many great moments! AND the "wonder" surrounding Sammy is building which is great because it means we will soon get our answers...or some of them, anyway. ;). Loved it. <3's.

    ReplyDelete
  57. oh they say Next friday at 9/8 jensen's director debute. so i guess WE WILL HAVE IT.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Someone just told me it was on next week... ARGH IM SCARED AGAIN NOW.. gonna go chek the cw

    ReplyDelete
  59. Well the soon never gives you an idea to when they will air. We know that its probably clips from ep 4 to ep 7 maybe 8. thats like a month its not so bad. I didnt see it well cause internet sucked last night but the last half of it was just awesome ahaha.

AW THANKS SO MUCH!!! I would have died without an episode next weeek lol. I'll be in bed with my mouth super big lol. (dentist)

    ReplyDelete
  60. LOL thanks. wow I got 3 likes. Aw i feel better now, I know I'm always a little crazy when I write comments while watching. and sometime its hard to follow cause I react to something you guys dont see. haaha. any way good hahaah.

OH and now that its been 12 hours and im more calm and myself I think I WAS SO RIGHT mwahahah its was awesome. pure awesomeness and i love sam. and wow we ddidnt see the campell did we? MWAHAHAHA!!! See how great it is without them hahaha. didnt even notice until now

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well.. Jensen said he didnt like the way the writers wrote dean at all. The challenge for him was more to give us the dean we love and know but changed a little. Dont know how it was on the script but men im fine with it hahah perfect jensen bravo.

And yes Jared as lucifer wasnt that good ahhah. And I just... okay when I watch a show I look at acting a lot cause i use to do theater and its just fun for me (well not really cause a lot of show sucks cause of it but still its funny i guess) and it wasnt that good. He is just way tomuch nice sam ahaha. But this cold thing wow. hands down bravo. I gotta say i dint feel it in the premiere but thats cause i was thinking of old sam but after watching ep 2 and 3 if i go back to ep1 he is awesome.
and i mean he is only 28-29? any way he can still grow a lot. its so nice to see him on gilmore girl okay im going out of subject again ill shut up.

  62. I'm not sure if it's not on next week but seeing as The Vampire Diaries is taking a weeks break, it doesn't look too promising. =(

  63. No he wasnt the devil when he jumped. He had the devil "in him" but he was in control otherwise he wouldnt have jumped.
What do you mean "finish what they started?" It is done. The episode "the end" was to show dean he had to say yes to micheal cause Sam was gonna say yes. But instaid he called his brother to meet. In the futur we saw dean didnt and thats why it ended this way. Sam(futur) probably had the same plan sam(oursam) but it didnt work cause he couldnt take control of his body cause he needed Dean as we saw in the finale last year. (wow is this confusing.. Sam sam sam lol. any way)

And for the acting strange part H.E.L.L! C'mon he went to hell in most have done something to him. It wasnt the same as Dean cause well they never reacted the same to any thing before why now and he was in the box, its an other demention of hell.

  64. I loved the episode. The main bit I loved was that Cas got his own storyline which I'm pretty sure will last the whole season. It is actually quite a good plot and hell, spin off series have been based on less in the past. (Not that I'm hoping for that, I'd rather it stay how it is)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I thought the same thing. It would be a major cop-out but after my 1 second thought of "What the hell are they doing?!" I thought "Nah, they're smart. They would actually do it"

    ReplyDelete
  66. loooove cas..so glad he's back
this season is so intriguing....i just want to know what happens right now.i hate waiting.
i think sam acting different is good, its brining change to the show.
when they showed gabriel in the previously section i got excited but he didn't come back :(
loved the way they got rid of sams car..classic!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm not saying that it's going to happen, I'm just saying it better NOT happen. lol

    ReplyDelete
  68. not sure about the soon thing. didn't they also do it last season and i think there was still an episode the next week. i could be mistaken about that bit though.
back in black was played in the pilot when they drove out of the gas station so it was one of the first scenes

    ReplyDelete
  69. I loved it! Not only did we get both boys shirtless in the first five minutes (and my GOD Jared has been doing a LOT of working out O.O *drools*), but Cas came back!... and he can say it was for the case as much as he wants to, I choose to believe it's because of his and Dean's "bond" :D

Poor Cas, though. The whole thing with searching the kid for information... and he really CAN'T afford to care, can he? If he even wants a chance to keep Heaven from imploding, he really has to force himself not to give a crap on Earth.

Raphael is still a colossal douche. Apparently he's replaced Uriel AND overtaken Uriel in that regard.

The plagues were freaking disgusting, lol. Like, REALLY gross. Especially the one with the locusts. I heard the buzzing, and I knew exactly what it was.. I had my face covered with a pillow and was going, "CRAP no, not bugs again!"

Anyone think we're going to be seeing more of Balthazar? Because, you know, apparently there are other pieces of the Staff of Moses that are missing... Which means other people still have them, potentially...

The "Soon" preview made me so nervous. Particularly the end of it. Sam was outright lying, so it must be during episode 6, right? Before Dean gets hit with the truth-telling curse? Ohhh, I can already tell I'm going to be in tears this season.

I really hope Gabriel comes back soon :(

    ReplyDelete
  70. Good ep. It's furthering the mystery of Sam's return. Castiel doesn't know how or who saved Sam, so there won't be any quick fix. It actually looked like, for the first time, Sam actually wanted to know and was disappointed he couldn't get an answer. Dean's still suspicious and rightfully so. He knows something is off, Sam knows something is off, but Sam's willing to blow it off and Dean wants the truth. I liked Balthazar and I loved watching the 'plastic piece of crap' get totaled. Sorry, Sam. The Impala is way cooler and irreplaceable. The scene where they both got out of their respective cars -- completely in sync -- was wonderful. Wonder how many times they had to film that?

So there's a civil war brewing in Heaven, huh? That should keep Cas busy. And if Raphael wants the whole Lucifer/Michael apocalypse thing to still happen, does that mean the Winchesters are still on the hook? Sam actually looked a little scared of that prospect. I know the mystery is unfolding slowly, but that's the way to do it. A quick resolve would be cheap and having us see Dean's suspicions grow ep by ep is actually upping the drama and intrigue. Loved the 'Soon' montage of the next three eps. Bobby in his socks. Couldn't help but chuckle.

  71. The episode was really great, but Sam is getting more creepy... He didn`t even cared how they got the information from the kid! And what he said to Dean about hell and that they`re different at the end of this episode... made me kind of sad. I thought this week would get them closer together, with all , you know back on the road again , working together, but it kinda felt like they are miles apart! The motel room scene with cas and everything was hilarious, but the sneak peek for the next episodes left me really afraid that that bond between Dean and Sam has changed for good ;(

    ReplyDelete
  72. No Back in Black for the Impala this week.

I don't know if SN will be on next week, I don't see why it wouldn't be on.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Just because they mentioned that someone wants to restart the apocalypse doesn't mean it is going to happen. It is just one of the things the boys and Cas will have to deal with. I am not surprised that there is someone who wants to restart it. I would have been disappointed if they didn't mention that a group would like that to happen. However I don't think that will be the focus, just one of many things the boys will have to fight in order to get back to being brothers.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I think that if Sam came out of hell acting like the old Sam then that wouldn't have been giving his experience in hell the right perspective. Whatever happened to him in hell and in this last year since he came back, has changed him. Jared even said that Sam's new attitude is one that have any sympathy for anyone. I think Jared is doing a great job and if you don't like the new Sam then too bad, because he is going to be around for a little while yet.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I can't believe I'm saying this.
Tonight's episode just wasn't that great.

    Pros:
    Cas is back.
    Sam's douchey car is scrapped.
The gore of the first kill.
Ben's taking it like a man

    Cons:
The one-liners were mega hit-and-miss... Some were great, some reminded me of those awkward first 10 eps of the show where Dean came off more as an asshole than a funnyman.
The special effects: The salt crumbling, the dead body of the cop that looked nothing like the original pre-boils, (I mean, did he lose weight?), those damn angelic swords... ugh... so fake...I like it when Supernatural uses their lack of a budget to come up with a different way to handle effects...even if blowing the guy up into salt was like instantly, it probably would've been better.

    On the Fence:
Newton from Fringe playing Balthazar--I love him as Newton and while I generally liked his character on SPN it felt wrong lol
Dean vs. Sam's changes: Those scenes were a little too overblown for me...but it makes sense to progress the story like that.
Also, the "SOON" segments are usually super-exciting...outside of the Twihard peek and the veritas spell, it didn't look too promising.

While I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes, this one let me down just a little bit. I still really enjoyed it, but there were a lot of things in this episode that just irked me.
Still, it was alright--the car crash made everything work out for me in the end.

    EDIT:
Oh yeah, and the casting for those random angels Castiel was fighting? Dreadful acting. I didn't like that stupid thing Balthazar did to signify the release of the child either...and Castiel's chanting annoyed me too...It's like facepalm-worthy, and too cheesy....

  76. I have to agree with you regarding Jared's performance as, what I think I'm going to be calling "Heartless Sam" :-) I think this work is much better than his performance as Lucifer (IMHO) I always found it difficult to think of Sam/Lucifer as a completely different caracter than Sam. In fact it was quite distracting. I would be watching those scenes and suddenly find myself trying to figure out if the writers were giving Jared 'Sam Dialog' and just labeling it Lucifer.

Just before the season premiered several outlets were posting quotes from Jensen about him getting scripts with a wussed out Dean. I read that article and my first thought was that Jensen was happy to have found the new season challenging for him as an actor (which I would think/hope is a good thing). this discussion has me thinking that maybe Jared has been given a challenge as well.

    I'm loving it.

  77. i just finished watching it and thought it was ASDFGHJKL, OMG SO AWESOME!!!! and also that australia should totally fast track it so i don't have to download shit loads of tv shows since i'm an addict and it just burns my net up.

i really like the sam mystery and his coldness and the whole reversed situation, how dean used to be the one pushed the limit more. i actually have this theory that its not really that related to hell that's made him like this, i mean he wasn't down there for long.... sure hell time works differently, because as if i recall correctly, dean was down there for 40 years? but still, at most a few months and he was trapped in the cage wasn't he? its not like they made him go around torturing people. i think it might have more of the campbell's influence, they have SOME kinda huge plan and i'm pretty sure sam knows at least SOME of it, right? then again, they didn't let sam on the whole capture-the-djinn-and-head-shapeshifter business (btw, the first shapeshifter we met in skin said “Maybe this thing was born human but was different. Hideous and hated. Until he learned to become someone else.” i don't like the new explanation in last episode even though the old one wasn't absolute... but this doesn't belong in this thread)

regardless, the veritas episode should be coming up soon and that should reveal everything, or at least quench our thirst a little

the angel stuff is only probably gonna come in sporadically, whenever sam and dean happen to run into something, so it should be alright. and i love cas anyway and i'll be sad without him =(

I LOVED ALL THE STUFF TO DO WITH THE CARS... dean racing sam, and sam's trendy new car being struck down by the hand of god quite literally!!

BRING BACK OLD SCHOOL SUPERNATURAL!!! in the wendigo episode they mentioned things like black dogs and skinwalkers, and also angiaks were mentioned somewhere in season 1, can we have those now? and i swear i didn't remember them from watching it the first time!! it was during season 3 ish and i as missing the monsters so while i watched season one i took note of the randomly mentioned creatures and for some odd reason still remember them xP

  78. OK so after reading the comments I'll admit that the episode didn't suck as I think it did and I can't stay mad at supernatural for very long anyway cuz I'm a true fan. I don't know... something was off for me. Maybe I need to rewatch it..
I don't like how different Sam is. RoboSam is so not cool. I guess it's necessary for the plot, but still - bad RoboSam! (but oh so good - the smoking hot bod ;) )
All the scenes with the angels, the fighting, the chanting... aaaawkward.... and basically - I DON'T care! show me some Sam & Dean action!
The preview for the next episodes looks epic though.. !

    ReplyDelete
  79. While I thought the episode was subpar too, I, nor do I believe the writers give a rat's ass about how sam fans feel about how he is being portrayed. Its an obvious tool of the plot--eventually we will know why Sam is acting so strange... This is almost as annoying to me as it was when I all I heard over the summer was "OMG Sera Gamble is gonna be showrunner!?? We better call it the SAM show now! She's gonna ruin Dean and make it all SAMSAMSAM" Now it's obvious that they are trying to go in a different angle and all people can do is bitch about how things have changed on the Show and Sam isn't being shown in the light that they want them to...You and I may not like this new Sam, but the writers (supposedly) have their reasons, and usually these writers hardly let us down, so just wait it out, ok?

  80. FIRST COMMENT!!

Have to say, best one of the three so far.

The gumbygirl&pokey moment where Dean got his nookie was awesome. I loved seeing them have a moment before he goes off to hunt because it's like, instead of a 'have a good day' kiss it's 'have a nice hunt' screw. And he's so adorable wen he's sleep-rumpled. And telling Ben to be a man was classic, good papa!Dean action there.

Absolutely LOVED Cas's entrance and that Dean was the one who could get him. After all, Cas is Dean's angel more than Sam's and well, Dean's got the handprint to prove it still. Where the hell did he get the air quotes from anyways? Balthazar being the new player in town is pretty cool, no matter how retro and how like Trickster/Gabriel he is. Maybe that's why he's like that? And poor Cas, unofficial leader for all rebelling in Heaven an now he's got Raphael back on his case. And the last scene with Dean cornering Sammy...I'm definitely with the older brother on this one. Dean went to hell and hunted four years without Sam when Sasquatch was in Stanford. Now Sam comes back from hell and he hunts just one year and is as douchey as Uriel? Nope. Even Cas was more emotional about torturing the kid than he was and Cas still has 'rusty people skills.'

Bestest part? Ben's Wendigo costume LOOKING like a Wendigo. That boy's gonna be just fine =) Also love the Charger being totaled by angel butt because that's just a big awesome 'haha' to the Dodge.

  81. If you go to AWESOME episode in the dictionnairy you will find this damn episode as an exemple damn! I'm only at 13 min (had to work..) and WOW epic much?

AW! GOD. From Dean's dream to him talking to Ben on the phone. And Sam being weird but still kinda Sammy we love and OKAY I'LL ADMIT it he was so damn HOT but gosh not why I watch. just a little bonus ya know!!!

AW and Dean "racing" Sam LOL! IMPALA POWER ofcourse he won duh. ahhaa. I want to see that damn car in an accident.. by the impala. ahahah. but of course our baby will be intact. Now they are calling Cas. AWESOME episode so far. Gonna come back later for the rest. WOW

    ReplyDelete
  82. Aw true. As much as i love this episde, damn this show I HATED THIS LINE lol. I was like no no no dont go there.. DONT even think about it lol. But I think its gonna be Castiel's mission and the boys wont need to do any thing about it. *crossing fingers*

though if im wrong i will not abandonned the show. just grief cause it WILL be the last season if they go there.

    ReplyDelete
  83. They better not be on the hook for the Apocalypse again. We already went through that. No more vessels, no more angel manipulation, no more fighting destiny. Let's get back to two brothers looking after each other, fighting evil and saving people. After all, no new mytharc will ever be as big as the Apocalypse.

  84. I have to say, thumbs up, Sera Gamble, this season is turning out to be amazing! #supernatural

  85. and i'm prettyyy sure there's supernatural next week, all the sites seem to say so (although i know vampire diaries is skipping a week)

  86. I loved the episode!! Mostly because Cas was in it, damn, you can complain about the angel storyline present in the show again, but you have to admit, Castiel was super needed to get this show back on track!! I just love the guy to pieces, no matter if he's that though heaven-trained cold soldier or rebelled, broken, lost and drunk "huggybear" ;)
I love the connection he has with Dean, I have loved it since season 4 and it never gets old. I mean, no matter how cold Cas is, he still has that little spot for Dean in his heart, he can try to hide it, but he cannot deny it lol Like for me it was obvious that he would like to be as human as in season 5, damn, once you learn how to feel, you don't just ditch it like that, but the whole post Apocalypse heaven civil war won't let him. My guess is, he's still considered the rebel up there, so perhaps he just doesn't want to show any weaknesses like his bonds to humans. Also, you could see right through him, how heartbreaking this whole situation was for him. He's still that poor little believer that everything can be solved and brought to peace with rainbows above it... he's a total cutie, even if his playing tough. He's that amazing ;)

Also, I must say, I love Dean even more with every episode. For me it's not like he's become weaker or anything, he just cares like he always has, only now he shows it more, maybe because Sam doesn't at all. I love Dean's relationship with Ben, so I hope he won't disappear from the kid's life just like that. Hell, Ben knows now so much about supernatural that I wouldn't be surprised if one day he asked Dean to show him how to kill some evil sons of bitches :P

And I don't quite understand this whole complaining about Sam. I am actually supercurious to find out what made him this way. If he just came back and cry about hell, like Dean (don't get me wrong - I LOVE Dean's hell tears ;)), there would be nothing mysterious or strange about it. And man, it's hell, hell changes people. You may not love the changed Sam, but it's interesting to see him like that and I can't wait to see how it evolves. Plus, it adds a bit of the brother drama, which is always needed to prevent the show from being dull.

So, I loved the soldier Cas and I loved the scene with torturing the kid and Sam holding Dean back. You can doubt my sanity, but I really liked it lol enoying the mysterious, dark, twisted Sam - of course I want the old Sam back, I am sure we're getting him back eventually, but hey, there has always been sth dark about him, right? that's one of the things that make him such a cool character.

Balthazar was kind of fun, but I'm not okay with him calling Cas Cas. Hello, wasn't Dean the one who invented that nickname? why are the angels calling him that too all of a sudden? Oh, and not liking the Uriel feeling about calling Dean an ape. Damn, is Cas really the only angel who actually likes humans? But I'm looking forward to more of Balthazar for sure. It will also be interested to see more of heaven weapons and more of Raphael trying to restart the Apocalypse.

So all in all, I really liked the episode, it had that season 4 feeling about it. It had it's shocking and gross moments which is good!! now all we need is some scary horror moments ;) and I loved that it was Campbell-free, at last!! (but I would like to see the Campbells confront Cas one day, it could be entertaining ;))

    ReplyDelete
  87. Yeah you know I've been wondering about Sam's soul too, but I didn't quite know how to express it. If someone has got their grubby little mitts on it, it will be interesting to see who, how, and why, and how they get it back.
    Good theory rochey_1 - I like it.

    ReplyDelete
  88. It seemed like Sam was outright lying because I sensed a little bit of hesitation when he replied to Dean It had nothing to do with the look on Dean's face (though he did look like he was two seconds away from calling Sam a "liar liar pants on fire") and everything to do with the way Sam looked when he replied. We know there's something that isn't quite right with Sam (missing soul, perhaps?), and maybe he DID mean it -- to the best of his capabilities. But maybe inside, he's thinking that he can barely back himself up, so how in the hell is he going to be able to get Dean's back when Dean needs him?

That, and in the Season 6 preview, the whole Dean punching the crap out of Sam has got me thinking it's going to happen during Episode 6 (which is the Veritas curse episode).

    ReplyDelete
  89. Finally! This episode had the Supernatural-feeling, it wasn't the best episode in the show's history, but it was far better than the episodes recently, And I don't mean just the two episodes of this season, but the 5th had bad episodes as well! I want more like this:)

    ReplyDelete
  90. Just realised this episode was written by Ben Edlund. So of course it's brilliant! The man is incapable of writing a dud episode - 'On the Head of a Pin', 'The End', 'Abandon All Hope', 'Nightshifter', 'Bad Day at Black Rock', 'Wishful Thinking' - they're all on my list of favorite episodes. Even the less than stellar efforts rate fairly high on my list. Wasn't he writing 'Clap Your Hands......'?

    ReplyDelete
  91. "If he even wants a chance to keep Heaven from imploding, he really has to force himself not to give a crap on Earth."
that is so well said about Cas! I mean, spending about two years on Earth with two boys you really care about, working your ass off to fight the unfightable FOR them and BECAUSE of them, doesn't leave you the same as you were before. I believe Cas is still emotional inside, he just tries to hide it for the greater good. the "I was ashamed", "I'm sorry" and "I can't afford the luxury to care" was a proof enough for me.
And I cannot wait to know the truth about Sam!!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Survey says-it's a winner! I loved it, even though I was a little grossed out at the beginning. But, it is always good to have a biblical history lesson and having Cas back is always a pleasure, even though I found that he was more like he was at the beginning-a little harsh and still does not have a clue as to what the boys say sometimes. I am not a fan of Raphael, but Balthazar was a rather interesting character. Anyone notice that the guy playing him was from General Hospital?
Sam certainly was different and from what we saw-when Cass found out who sold the staff of Moses and what he had to do-it was almost like he enjoyed witnessing pain and did not want Dean to stop it. And the prostitute? What has happened to our Sammy? I love him, I really do, but just what is going on with him? We should find out soon enough and I think we are all going to be in for a big suprise!

    ReplyDelete
  93. This episode was amazing!! I loved the return of Cas and especially the scene where we first saw him again :) I think I'm liking Ben, he has good taste in monsters. Right now, this episode is my favourite in season 6.

The thing I'm happiest about is that Sam's car is DEAD. That 'car' deserves to be salted and burned.
