Sometimes I feel like I'm one of the few people who is enjoying this show!
I remember when Dark first setup his Lost site that he had a great list of outstanding mysteries. I thought it would be cool to try something similar for The Event.
I thought we'd create a thread where we can list all the outstanding Mysteries/Questions from the show in one place.
Feel free to add replies and I'll periodically go through them and update this post.

Doh!
ReplyDeleteyes that makes perfect sense now!
By 'Young Adam' I think they refer to the baby in the flashbacks in E05, right? 'Adam' would be the kid in present days.
ReplyDeleteI watched the first two episodes, but just haven't gotten around to watching the rest yet. Is it still as good? I was enjoying it before I just stopped :P
ReplyDeletegood list so far. i have a couple
ReplyDeletewhat was the technology used to transport the plane to the desert
why was arizona chosen? anything special it?
Why is Vicky's boy credited as "Young Adam". Is there an old Adam? Or a future Adam?
How Does Sean Know About the Plane Assination in First Place?
Yep, that does seem more like a script/continuity error. Thanks for posting that, as I'd not thought about that much.
ReplyDelete"What happened between the time that Sean was on the cruise and that he was on the plane?"
ReplyDeleteThanks added.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great question
OH and What did Thomas mean when he said "They're all going to die anyway!"
ReplyDelete:) Points to time travel or something like that to right a wrong.
While I love this list, and am generally enjoying the show so far, one of the main mysteries for me is "Why is the dialogue so horrible on this show?"
ReplyDelete:)
About 3), not necessarily powers, but probably knowledge
ReplyDeletethank you
ReplyDeleteWho took the plane?
ReplyDeletethank you. i've updated the question.
ReplyDelete>Why are they trying to kill Sean?
ReplyDeleteIt's rather "Who and why has tried to kill the President and is trying to kill Sean?", I'm sure it's not aliens.
oh yes! i had forgot that and i'll reword it later.
ReplyDeletethank you
Thanks
ReplyDeletei will try to update later. glad i am no alone
This is a good idea and you're not alone on enjoying the show. I'm really enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI had not thought about Sean's parents, actually that's a good point. He seemed overly cautious about them. Does he know more?
Questions that I would add
1) Does Thomas's knowledge of The Manhatten Project show that they were from the future?
2) What is the 1% of DNA difference for. Is it the ability to not age
3) With all their powers, why have the detainees not already escaped
4) What is their big secret that they had one of their own killed before he spilt the secrets
I'm sure there are hundreds more but my head hurts!
Why don't the detainees age?
ReplyDelete^They do age, just slower ;)
Other than that good luck with your list :)
This show sounds interesting... I was thinking about trying it after I finish a couple of other shows that I started watching. But I think I'll wait and see if it gets renewed first, because I don't really want to get into it if it gets cancelled. I get easily attached :(
ReplyDeleteyes I agree.
ReplyDeletethank you, i will update the post later.
ReplyDeleteQ: Who and why were the people Vickie and others killed in the house?
ReplyDeleteA: I think that flashback was just to show the background story of Vicky. To let us now she has some humanity in her, because she wasn't able to kill a baby, and not only that, but the fact that she was capable of blowing up the entire operation for some kid that's not even hers. She's evil, but she've got a heart.
I am still loving it!
ReplyDeletewhy did you stop?
Thanks mike I've posted your questions in the main post. Cool idea about Young Adam. I did not notice that
ReplyDeleteThe FBI was going after Sean because he was accused of killing Vicky's boyfriend, Greg, but according to the cruise records, he was never on the ship. Shouldn't they know something was wrong in the first place?
ReplyDeleteAnd how is it possible that if some guy died on a cruise room, they were able to call the cops, investigate, process and take photos of the crime scene (according to the police report in E02) and then give it to other passengers, in just a matter of a few hours?
Not actually a 'mystery' per se, more like a script error, I think.
Good one
ReplyDeleteHow did Michael know that the helicopters were not coming to help?
ReplyDeleteWhat are the secrets of the Buchanan family? Are they (or one of them) aliens?
Is there any significance to the scotch that Michael gave to Sean?
Why are Blake and Jarvis at each other's throats? Which of them, if either, is a bad guy?
How were they able to cover up the disappearance of the plane when there were dozens of people who saw it disappear and press cameras filmed it?
By the way, I like the show a lot too.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the little girl who was kidnapped from bringing in her bicycle?
ReplyDeleteHow did Sean get off the boat when he was looking for Leilia?
How did Sean know which plane Leila's father was going to pilot?
How did Sean get on the plane with gun with screening in place?
Why did they just kill the wife?
Again, how could so many detainees survive a plane crash like the passengers from "lost"?
Who and why were the people Vickie and others killed in the house?
If the 'aliens" believe we have something that can help them get back home why don't they just ask us for it?
Why are we all assuming Sophia is "the leader" of the group?
Can there be a "third group" of them that don't want to go back home and just stay on earth?
That was Thomas and his people wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteAnd it was a major presidential news event. All the media would have been there. Probably just a major continuity flaw, but it would be nice if they provided a more plausible explanation.
ReplyDeleteHow could the people at the party NOT SEE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PLANE? COME ON!
ReplyDeleteAnd are you going to tell me that the people at the party WOULD SAY NOTHING TO ANYBODY ABOUT THE PLAN? COME ON!!!
When did it ever show Simon talking to his girl friend and telling her to kill her boy friend?
ReplyDelete"How did Sean get on the plane with gun with screening in place?" They showed him sneaking onto the plane when it was in a runway in a navy uniform
ReplyDeleteI believe it was a maintenance worker's uniform. We of course do not know yet how he got from the ship to the plane and learned about the plot in the process. Sean did see a group of agents running down the concourse as the plane started to taxi, perhaps they were working together. Also unexplained is why Sean waited for the plane to take off before he tried to stop Michael.
***************************************************
"How did Michael know that the helicopters were not coming to help?" Because he knew things from before he got on the plane, we just don't know what else happened yet
Yes, obviously Michael was not just threatened by an anonymous group, they must have revealed some info to them, or he is/was one of them.
*********************************************
"How were they able to cover up the disappearance of the plane when there were dozens of people who saw it disappear and press cameras filmed it?" They did explain this but I can't remember what exactly
They just said something lame like "nobody saw it," but in the very first scene of the pilot episode you can hear people screaming and running and a live reporter shouting, "Something's happening! Drop the camera! Run!"
I thought Simon told her to kill him after Sophia told Simon to make sure he was 'silenced'
ReplyDeleteOk some of these have been answered:
ReplyDelete"How did Sean get on the plane with gun with screening in place?" They showed him sneaking onto the plane when it was in a runway in a navy uniform
"Why did they just kill the wife?" They needed Michael to pilot the plane and the kids for leverage
"Who and why were the people Vickie and others killed in the house?" This is most likely irrelevant
"Why are we all assuming Sophia is "the leader" of the group?" This is obvious
"How did Michael know that the helicopters were not coming to help?" Because he knew things from before he got on the plane, we just don't know what else happened yet
"How were they able to cover up the disappearance of the plane when there were dozens of people who saw it disappear and press cameras filmed it?" They did explain this but I can't remember what exactly
Why hasn't the President found out about someone going to reveal the secrets was killed? Did Blake Sterling keep this info from the President? Why does the President still trust Sterling when he had hidden the information on the detainees from him? Didn't Simon Lee give the President the info about the detainees?
ReplyDeleteWhen the President threatened Sophia that others would reveal what was going on and Blake Sterling got one of the detainees who said he would tell everything and they had him in a safe place and then his girl friend killed him from revealing anything, only a limited number of people knew about it so how did his girl friend know and kill him? Was it a "shape shifter" or would all the detainees want nothing revealed?
ReplyDeleteI've added them to the post
