Dexter - Episode 5.05 - First Blood- Recap

Is Dexter starting to lose it?

That certainly looks possible after last night where we nearly saw Dexter kill the wrong guy in the season’s fifth episode, ‘First Blood’.

The episode followed Dexter and his efforts to help Lumen find the men who were involved in her attack. I think Dexter sees himself in Lumen, that’s certainly the impression I got last night. He wants to get the men that hurt her but he doesn’t want her to be involved, he doesn’t want Lumen to turn into him.

Last night’s episode also looked at Harrison being affected by what he saw. At the start of the episode, it appears Harrison scratched another child. Will he turn into Dexter? It makes me wonder if the producers are planning a time jump next season. It would be rather awesome to see Dexter having to teach Harrison the rules and the ‘code’ like his father did to him.

I do feel this season of Dexter is moving a bit slow especially in last night's episode. The writing is still brilliant but I feel we are lacking a bit on the drama and suspense side. I love that Quinn is suspicious of Dexter, I just hope they don't make the outcome too cliché.

Whatever is in store, I can’t wait especially after seeing next week's promo which looks to be full of drama, blood and suspense! This week will not go quick enough.

  1. Little short recap, but like you said, not much suspense this season so far.
You should have mentioned the last scene where Harrison scratches Dexter. Funniest ending from all seasons so far!
